Comments about Gibson Les Paul 60th Anniversary Electric Guitar:

Sorry, but Donald doesn't know what he's talking about... he probably doesn'tt even own one. These guitars (the 1952 Original Lester) ORIGINALLY was made for OVERWRAPPING the strings. However, on the original 1952 Les Paul the offset angle of the neck (which Les and Gibson did not account for prior to production) did not allow for over-wrapped strings... so players were FORCED to underwrap them... this virtually rendered the guitar useless, palm mutes didn't work, etc... (there is a fix for it now -- a product from the UK I believe)... but Donald, do your research before leaving such a smug comment on such a fine instrument. Again, it was originally made to have over-wrapped strings, but because of the neck angle it didn't work correctly (which is why they changed over to a hardtail the next few years)... So in reality, the only fantasy here is the fantasy of you knowing your history or anything about this product. This guitar rocks -- looks, sounds, plays and IS solid. Absolutely a gem! got her. she's absolutely a gem to play. 10lbs on the dot on the bathroom scale. VERY fat and round chunky early 50's neck... thicker around than my 50's neck on my trad pro. and just overall very very warm tone and feels great on the lap. if you're a bluesman a la huber sumlin, etc.. you will love this piece. gold top is beautiful, fretboard flawless, tailpiece works this time lol and she's just a heavy fat cow that needs some love... i'm with that! get one while they last! threw the .012-54's on her and she sings!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul 60th Anniversary Electric Guitar:

The original from 1952 had the strings wrapped UNDER the bar and a flatter neck angle. Another Gibson Fantasy "Re-issue"!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul 60th Anniversary Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a must have for any serious Les Paul player/collector. The feel and sound are amazing. It's a heavy solidbody single piece mahogany body and neck. Wonderful feel and warm sound. The pinned wrap-around bridge/tailpice is a uniquely elegant differentiator from other Les Paul models. The overal look and finish is exquisite.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul 60th Anniversary Electric Guitar:

I have # 158/300 and it is a beautiful thing I just had to have. It is similar to many higher end Gold Tops with the exception of it being the bestlooking Les Paul I've ever seen save for possibly the 52 Tribute model. The comments about the tailpiece are well documented. Mr. Paul requested the over the top design and when Gibson did not comply, Les, always the innovator, went aheah and did his own design and sent it off to be patented. His design allows one to mute/palm the strings... So as to Gibson fantasy I'd say it is a Les Paul fantasy come true! The only gripe I have is the selector switch, w/o the plastic washer, cuts into the finish, and can cause it to chip if one attempts to tighten it to normal specs. I intend to put one on as the 52 tribute has on. I think it looks better without but I'd rather protect the finish. And yes, it is one very heavy log!
