Solid, well-made Gibson guitar. The P-90's are rich & full if a bit trebly, but, hey, either you love 'em or hate 'em. Lots of bite when you dig in. This is a well-made instrument worthy of the name. The baked maple board plays like ebony with more mid-range to my ear at least. With gain, this thing cooks.
I would highly recommend this guitar if you are not normally a fan of single coils.

I had the original guitar this morhped into, the Les Paul Special. They are pretty to look at, but they just don't resonate in your hands when you play. The neck seemed a bit too flat for my liking. Perhaps they improved on this LPJ, but it looks awfully familiar. Mine came with a case though. The price is right, if you aren't that intrested in expressive, burnished Blues playing.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:
I bought the glossy tobacco burst and had to get a set up first thing (typical gibson) but beside that the guitar sounds great, the P90's give a clean sound. The neck is exceptional and the guitar is well balanced. Well worth the money for beginner or for a professional. You won't be disappointed.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:
This is a great value for an American made Gibson. The body is a very basic slab of mahogany, fairly light and comfortable at 7.5 lbs. The finish is ok, but nothing special (Mine is satin ebony, which was the only finish available when I bought it).
The neck, on the other hand is a pleasure to play. Mine was set up great out of the box, no fret buzz, very straight, and feels like a good quality Gibson neck. I like the baked maple fretboard too. The classic P-90 pickup tone is so nice. Just a lot of fun to play.
If you aren't expecting it to be just like a high-end Les Paul, you won't be disappointed.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:
Best deal on a Gibson at MF right now. I had a MF Exclusive Gibson SG HH Special and it was a total disappointment in both finish and sound. This guitar on the other hand has been totally satisfying! I was happy the minute I plugged it in! The big question is the durability of the finish. Gibson satin finishes have left something to be desired in my experience, it seems they like to chip easily. Finish aside the sound is what I hoped for. I did have to make some significant intonation adjustments on the 1st and 2nd strings, otherwise action is pretty good out of the box. Gig Bag is also lousy and I would suggest a hardshell case. Overall a nice american made Gibson for the same price as many imports, VERY VERY VERY Good!!! Now I'm thinking about the Humbucker version in Yellow!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:
This is the best guitar I own. I ordered the gloss ebony one and hear to tell you it looks amazing. The guitar is exactly how pictured, no differences. The sound is great and even the gig bag is great. The neck does have the binding shown as well. The top hats are great knobs. I will be purchasing a hard case. The gig bag looks great with its white interior but it doesn't protect to much even though it's very padded. My only complaint is how soft the finish is. I bet it wouldn't take much to damage so i would just recommend being careful. I love this guitar and it's my all time favorite. Order it!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:
Has some heft to it, which was a bit of a surprise. (mine weighs 8.1 lbs.) I love the thin 60's neck with the binding, no fret issues at all, 60 cycle hum is very minor; I really don't even notice it. No finish issues, I wish it had Grovers instead of Klusons, but they work OK. The out of the box setup was minimal but that was easily solved. The only issue, which I have heard is common in newer Gibsons, is a small tendency to give off a static pop every now and then; something to do with the electro-static charge they apply during the application of the finish, and I heard it usually goes away in a few weeks.
Really not a problem in any event, this thing is nice, much better tone than a 2012 LP Studio that I was considering. I love it.

Amazing what they've done with the baked maple finger boards....a cross between rosewood & ebony feel to it.... The price just knocks me out! A Gibson Les Paul for less than other brands!!! It's a real keeper... right along side my vintage Les Pauls....

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:
I have been looking for a Jr for awhile . Finally bought one and I do not regret it at all! I have a Les Paul Traditional and thought that was my main guitar but am really impressed with the sound of the p-90's.I also own Fender and hamer guitars but the sound and the price of the Jr..well I recommend it highly. Great intonation and the feel of it is great. Holds its tuning good. I think you will not regreat buying it. Wish it would have had a hardshell case

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:
What an incredible bargain, American made Gibson for about a half a grand! Surprisingly, right out of the box this thing was set up great, no setup needed which is not usually the case. As others have stated, the P-90s on this thing are awesome! Great clean tone, and sweet, ballsy overdriven tones for blues and rock. I haven't weighed the guitar, but I find it to be a very comfortable weight especially compared to my other Les Pauls which are around 9 lbs and get pretty heavy after an hour on stage. Only 2 criticisms on this guitar, the strap buttons on this thing seem abnormally small, the guitar has fallen out of my strap a few times already (I see strap locks in my future) and the finish on the satin yellow model I bought seems pretty fragile and easily scratchable. I suspect the gloss models may be a bit more durable if that's important to you.
Overall though, this thing is a steal for the price. American made, great quality, tone and playability that you can't get from other companies at anywhere close to this price.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups:
Don't miss one of these at this closeout price. I bought two. One with P-90's. One with Humbuckers.
Both came well packed and undamaged. I went with the gloss finish. An unbeatable Value for a USA Guitar.
