A Thing Of Beauty

By Guitar Geek

I've played other Gibson Les Paul Studio guitars, but this by far tops them all! It looks great in satin black, and the black chrome hardware like the Grover tuners are like icing on the cake. The EMGs are a cut above all the rest of the pickups that I've played. The tones that come out of this guitar are something to be heard for yourself! The features on this guitar rival the Zakk Wylde Signature Les Paul at a fraction of the cost. I am definitely satisfied with this purchase.

A real Les Paul for metal!

Forget the Les Paul and SG Menace guitars, this Les Paul is the real Les Paul for metal. I was originally hoping to get an ESP Truckster, but this guitar has all the features of the Truckster, it plays better IMO, and it also looks cooler to me as well. I'm not totally a rhythm guitarist, I also do a lot of lead work. With this guitar, I got no real problem shredding. The neck is very fast and the guitar plays great downtuned. Plus, it's got EMGs, and EMGs are hands down the best pickups for playing metal or playing in dropped tuning. Plays great through any amp, but this Les Paul is at it's best played through either a Marshall or Randall, the latter I use (a Randall V2 Head). If you are a metal player, and you want a Les Paul, get this one. You will not be sorry.

I got this guitar 2 days ago and haven't been able to put it down. Right out of the box it played and sounded like a dream. The action is low and fast and the dual EMG's are amazing. I expected it to be a lot heavier but it's lighter than most of my other guitars. If you have the means I highly recommend this guitar.

I own 5 other les pauls,a custom,a standard,2 studios and a special. This guitar is the lightest of all of them by far{maybe its hollowed out?}.Its actually neck heavy when you wear it with a strap. The finish seems like it wont last, and will chip easily,so if that bothers you ,you might not like it.The EMGs are great for metal but dont "clean up" as well as passives. The neck is a chunky 50s style..All in all a great guitar for heavy rock/metal.

Modern twist on an old classic.

This guitar looks, feels, and sounds great. I bought this guitar new at my local gibson dealer. What a great purchase, the emgs sound super. They distort much easier than passive pickups so you may have to turn your gain down to acheive the same sounds you might get with non emgs. This guitar is actually much lighter than my 1987 strat plus. The classic design gets respect from the old timers, and the satin black finish with the all black hardware gets the metal kids going. The shape of the neck is very comfortable, it's listed as a '50's shape but is actually more similar to a '60's. The action is very low and the guitar seems to be set up perfectly from the gibson factory. The guitar looks very striking in the white plush case, which for some reason smells like vanilla. I don't know if gibson does this to all thier guitars, but my case smells wonderful. lol.

I have to say this is one of my favorite gibson guitars. It's by far the best sounding guitar I've played. The flat black gives it a tough look, and keeps this in an affordable guitar. If your thinking of getting this guitar,Do it it's well worth the cash!!!
