I purchased the 2016 version earlier this year with the black painted back hands down one of the worst guitars I ever touched, needless to say it went back. When the 2017 model came out and I noticed a black was gone I thought I would take another chance. Keep in mind the black was not the reason the guitar was so horrible to begin with it was put together very poorly the Finish was terrible the action was horrific the neck could not be leveled it was buzzing all over the first second and third frets it would fret out all over the place and all of this with fairly uncomfortable action. On the contrary when I received the 2017 model it was fabulous the Finish is beautiful of course the natural grain back of the mahogany is awesome and the playability amazing, fabulous action super fast low no buzzing no dead spots no freak outs. This Les Paul was worth every penny if I'm honest it plays better than my standards I have two standards 2007 and 2004 technically I have a mid 70 standard but I never play it lol, I also have a faded Studio and a Studio Plus flame top. I would put this one up against any of them any day it's a great guitar and it made me fall in love with Gibson all over again. I did have to make one change however I had to add the poker chip switch marker as they don't come with it for some reason and I guess I'm a little old school lol. I have been playing for over 35 years and I would highly recommend this Les Paul to anyone and everyone you won't be disappointed.

Ordered a Lp tribute 2017 and got it on time. I wasn't impressed at all by the set up, intonation, or general playability. I have a few epiphone LP's and ran my favorite through an a/b y switch with the tribute and didn't hear the results I would have liked. In face, the Epi outperformed the Gibson. In a nutshell, this isn't the LP I thought it was and I think you can get a better/more affordable LP by modding an Epiphone, as long as you can live without the Gibson name.

Awesome guitar for a great price!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Tribute T 2017 Electric Guitar:

Great guitar! I have spent years as a fan of super Strats, but this guitar has changed me. It has a supe comfortable neck for someone that has been used to a slimmer neck. The pickups are very bright for alnico 2 magnets, and can easily cover nearly any genre of music. The weight relieved body leaves it very light once strapped on, but doesn't neck dive. The set up out of the box was not great, but with a small bit of tweaking, played great in less than an hour. No flaws in the finish, and the maple top has a slight bit of flaming in it. For being the opposite of what it would usually go for, I am happy to say that this had become my number one go to guitar.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Tribute T 2017 Electric Guitar:

Absolutely stunning guitar. My first high end guitar after an epiphone and cheap tele. The finish is stunning. Pictures don't do it justice. Sounds great. The neck is perfect and arrived in tune! Plays like a dream. With the veterans day promo I paid less than 800 for a real american made les paul. Fantastic. Looking forward to adding more Gibsons in the future.

      Great move on Gibson's part

      By Kris

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Tribute T 2017 Electric Guitar:

Apon arrival I was dissapointed. Unfinished back and neck seemed cheap to me. But the price is attractive. The top was well done to so I moved on with the tests. Plugged it in and WOW. The pickups are very clear and punchy , and the sustain goes on for days with sexy harmonics at the tail end. Very good bang for the buck for a middle of the way to lifetime guitar.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Tribute T 2017 Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar yesterday and can't put it down! I was skeptical about the performance because of the price. But it arrived set up already and I must say, they did a great job on it. I didn't make any adjustments out of the box other than tuning.

I've played and owned several Epiphone LP's and decided it was time to move up to the big leagues. I just wanted a guitar....no frills. And this bad boy delivered. No push/pull pots, no funky nut that sucks out your tone, no binding, and a nice satin finish. This is easily the best/most versatile guitar I've ever owned. The cutaway is perfect for reaching the higher notes. I haven't popped the back open and checked out what's under the hood. I'm assuming it's the circuit board type of wiring. Which, it didn't affect the sound as far as I know, so I won't be biased about which way is better or worse. I'm really into the classic rock/blues sound right now. Jimmy Page, Joe Walsh, Billy Gibbons, Don Felder....those guys. I'm sure it's great for more tones than that, I just haven't ventured there with it yet.

The case that came with it was actually very nice with several layers of padding. I'm just a hard shell kinda guy. So, I bought one of those as well. The only reason I'm giving a 4 star rating instead of a 5 is because I literally pulled the strap out of the plastic and put it on my guitar and 5 minutes later, if I had not had my hand on the neck, this review would be a lot more negative than it is. That poor excuse for a strap ripped and broke in that short amount of time. WHAT EVER YOU DO, DON'T USE THE STRAP!!!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Tribute T 2017 Electric Guitar:

This guitar (honey burst) arrived today from Musiciansfriend.com, and probably this is the best Les Paul model in the price range. I love the pick up combination (490R and 490T), and really digging the satin finish. I have several Epiphone Les Paul models and Gibson Les Paul models along with 15 other guitars (Strats, Music Man, Jackson, Tele, ES335....), and definitely this Gibson Les Paul Tribute 2017 will be my 'go to' guitar for a while. I would not hesitate to grab one.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Tribute T 2017 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar and received it quickly. When I received it, it had a small finish flaw, which turned out to be a small chip on the finish. The guitar sounded great and played nice with its unfinished neck and back, which seemed to let the tone resonate and sustain. I retuned it for an unblemished one, which should arrive soon. I have a little concern with the satin finish as it seems like it might be a bit fragile. We'll see how the finish on the replacement holds up. No guitar finish should be that sensitive and no player should have to worry about handing it so gently.
