Incredible tonal clarity and beautiful aesthetic touches.

The Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard combines several time-honored production elements of the past with a number of modern, cutting-edge appointments. Using the popular Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Studio as its template, the Songwriter Deluxe Standard adds a compound-radius fingerboard for electric guitar-like playing action, and incorporates Gibson's renowned red spruce top bracing from the 1930s, bonded with traditional hide glue for maximum tone and volume.

    Gold Grover Rotomatic Tuners

Grover's original Rotomatic tuners are an engineering marvel with abundant style and performance exactly suited to the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard guitar. With a gear ratio of 14:1, the Rotomatics deliver precision tuning in a durable housing that provides maximum protection for the gear and string post. All moving parts are cut for exact meshing, eliminating the possibility of slippage. A countersunk tension screw lets guitarists regulate the tuning tension to any degree. A special lubricant inside the gearbox provides smooth and accurate tuning stability.

    Crown Peghead Logo

Gibson put the first crown peghead logo on an ES-300 back in 1940, and it has graced the headstocks of many legendary Gibson guitars ever since, including today's Songwriter Deluxe Standard acoustic electric guitar. Over the years, it has also been called a "thistle" because of its resemblance to that prickly plant, though Gibson has preferred to call it a "crown."

    Pickguard

The pickguard on the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard is a custom line design made from Tortec. As with all of Gibson's pickguards, the coloring, inlay, and binding are all done by hand.

    Rosette

The rosette on the Songwriter Deluxe Standard Guitar is one of Gibson's finest. It is a double-ring rosette with an abalone-filled middle, with both outer rings consisting of six-ply binding. They add a stylish, understated elegance to the Gibson Songwriter guitar line.

Ebony Fingerboard with Rolled Edges and Deluxe Standard Inlays

The fingerboard of the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard Guitar is constructed from the highest grade ebony on earth, which is personally inspected by Gibson's team of experts. The resilience of this durable wood makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and stable, and gives each chord and note unparalleled clarity and bite. The fingerboard inlays of the Gibson Songwriter guitar are an exciting design made of genuine mother of pearl, and inserted into the fingerboard using a process that eliminates gaps and doesn't require the use of fillers. The fingerboard also sports a rolled edge instead of the usual right angle where the fingerboard surface meets the neck. Gibson Acoustics' rolled edges are slightly beveled for an extremely smooth and comfortable feel, enhancing the playability of the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard Guitar.

    Body Tonewoods

The body design of the Songwriter Deluxe Standard is described as a small dreadnought. The top is made from AA-grade Sitka spruce while the back and sides are constructed from rosewood, giving the Gibson Songwriter a balanced, warm tone with clear lows and solid treble registers. Selecting the right wood and the formula to dry it out are two of the key elements in Gibson's guitar-building process.

    The Ellipse Aura
The Ellipse Aura combines Fishman's most sophisticated onboard preamp design with the power of Aura Acoustic Imaging Technology for exceptional accuracy and true to life sound. The Ellipse Aura features Pickup/Image Blend, Volume and switchable Natural I and Natural II low frequency tone shaping. A Phase Switch and automatic Anti-Feedback device aids in controlling feedback. The pickup's ergonomic soundhole-mounted design puts slider controls at the player's fingertips to maintain a natural playing position. A patented neodymium magnetic mounting system enables easy, solder-free installation with a variety of size formats that accommodate most round soundholes from 3-7/8" (98mm) to 4-1/8" (105mm) in diameter. Equipped with a Low Battery indicator, the Ellipse Aura includes a no-hassle, solder-free Acoustic Matrix undersaddle pickup in narrow, wide, or narrow/split formats.

    Bracing

Every acoustic guitar made by Gibson features hand-scalloped, radiused top bracing inside the body, a feature normally found only in limited run, handmade guitars. By scalloping each brace by hand, the natural sound of the acoustic is focused more toward the center of the body, enhancing the instrument's sound projection. The bracing pattern inside the Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard Guitar is based on the design used for Gibson's celebrated Advanced Jumbo models of the 1930s, consisting of a wider "X" pattern that allows the top to vibrate more freely and push the sound toward the soundhole. The result is an acoustic guitar that delivers incredible response, and a superior dynamic range with balanced, warm tones, clear lows, and solid treble registers.

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I never really thought much of Gibson acoustics until I played this one. I own 14 martins and 4 taylors from 1953-2011 and am really glad I bought this,I"ve been playin for over 52 years. The sound with the adi scalloped bracing, way forward shifted, and radiused body and bone nut and saddle make this sound 20 yrs.old.The balance is perfect and the sustain and vibrato are excellent, again for a new guitar this one sounds as if its already opened up. I finger pick mostly and really love the neck and fretboard, however pickin scales and riffs are really easy on this and it also sounds great plugged in to my JC120,planning to buy an AER. The best thing is I worked a 42% off deal...This ones a keeper for sure .If you want one try to find the ebony fretboard and bridge combo, they are now in rosewood. Finally the fit and finish is enviable. Keep pickin all...

I purchased this guitar 10 months ago from a shop near where I live for $2850.00. Since then I have use it to record, on stage and at home. I have had many different acoustice over the 46 years I have played, this Gibson and my Martin are my workhorses and I play the Gibson most of the time with my Martin as my backup. I have 11 guitars at this time and My Gibson songwriter Deluxe standard and My Gibson Les Paul Studio are my main guitars. I plan to keep these 2 guitars along with my Martin for life.

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is the most incredible Gibson acoustic I have ever played. I went into the music store to purchase a Taylor 814 ce. This Gibson was on the wall next to it so just for fun I grabbed it because it was so beautiful. I left the store with the Gibson.

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This instrument jumped out from a room full of guitars. It's tone, playability and beauty are second to none. I have compared it to many guitars since I purchased it, and it is ALWAYS a cut above. If you're looking for a quality acoustic guitar, you need to check out the products from Gibson Montana. They are second to none.

          Top of the pile!

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

What an amazing guitar...acoustic guitars are subjective...every player, every set of hands responds differently to different guitars and vice versa. However, after trying over 20 top of the range Taylors (awesome) with ES (yuck!), 12 Martin Dreads (pretty cool) and 6 Gibsons..I've had to put my money on the Standard Songwriter Deluxe. A cut above the Studio Deluxe which is also great if you can't afford the Standard. When playing I look for balance, depth, playability, finish, resonance and the amplified tone. I run the Ellipse Aura through an LR Baggs Para DI...never thought that would be a goer but the audience never lies. I have owned and currently do own many acoustic guitars, this one is the top of the pile...maybe wait a couple of years if you can't afford a brand new one and you might be able to pick one up second hand. I bought mine brand new.

          Sex for the ears....

Comments about Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar has ascended from the heavens. It's glorious sound is something that you would only hear from a god. Really though, this guitar is amazing. It sounds beautiful. You can tell the quality of it when playing beside other acoustics, making this guitar sound amazing and everything else in the group like crap. I don't play it nearly enough though. It's a great guitar in all, but with the price it is I have a phobia that I'm going to scratch it, break it, or something. Overall, this is a great guitar. If you're looking for a good sounding acoustic and have the money for this. This guitar should be a must have then.....
