OVERVIEW

The G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy is a factory-modded version of Leo's final word on the traditional single-cutaway bolt-on axe. For players looking for the unmistakable warmth of a classic humbucker in the neck position, the Bluesboy delivers with a well-balanced pairing of a G&L alnico humbucker designed by Paul Gagon and a single-coil G&L Magnetic Field Design bridge pickup designed by Leo Fender.

Framed in a classic boxed-steel bridge, the single-coil MFD bridge pickup delivers crisp attack with complex harmonics while individual brass saddles offer modern levels of intonation refinement. Flip to the neck ˜bucker and you'll discover all the charismatic warmth you could ask for. Put ˜em together and you'll find yourself immersed in exploring the limits of this guitar's surprising versatility.

Case sold separately.

Swamp ash or basswood body, bolt-on maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and Paul Gagon-designed neck humbucker.

Comments about G&L Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Electric Guitar:

When I opened the guitar and took it out the neck felt like a rough baseball bat. I thought, if I were at a store I'd likely not even play it. Keep in mind, I have mostly high end guitars so I am picky. The neck was very rough, the frets were not polished so the strings felt rough sliding on them when you bend them. The back of the neck was not "satin" or stained, it just felt like a piece of wood. The rosewood doesn't appear to be oiled, it looks really dry but I decided to take it home and try it out before just sending it back. The Ash body looked very good though, the workmanship was superb, and the hardware does appear better than even my American Tele, it was just the neck I was concerned about.

I compared it to my 2012 American Tele, alder body, maple neck and they had quite a different sound so because of that, it helped me want to keep it more. The bridge output on the this guitar was a bit louder and had more of a twang than my Fender. In my opinion it was my reason for keeping this guitar

The neck pickup on my tele is a single coil so really no comparison there, this guitar has a much darker and fuller sound. As others mentioned it maybe is a little too dark and warm, it's almost like they purposely built a low pass filter to make it that warm. You can still hear the individual strings as you play, so it's very articulate but I also own a few Gibsons and other humbucker guitars and they do not sound like them, although it is a very nice mellow and different tone.

Now for the good part, after playing it for about 2 days the frets have polished themselves from my playing and the neck is starting to pick up the oils from my hand so they feel more polished. The strings now bend easily without feeling like fingernails on a chalkboard. Plugged into a solid state amp, this is very comparable and probably even better sounding than my American tele. In a tube amp though, the fender at least to my ears sounds better. This guitar PUPs also has less noise.

Comments about G&L Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Electric Guitar:

I'm a Tele guy through and through but was on a budget and wanted to get a new guitar. Tried out this G&L and bought it instantly. It plays wonderfully, looks awesome and sounds great. The craftsman ship is way better than a MIM Tele. I'm very impress by G&L. For the price you can't beat this guitar and it's still cheap enough to be able to customize it with some cool Tele apparatuses like string benders or Scruggs tuners.

Play For my family now....Last Live Concert was in Nuremberg Germany in 2006
I discovered G & L by having a nice discussion with the sales rep.
He was right and I ordered another G & L Today!
I already know which Gibson to trade for a USA made G & L.

Comments about G&L Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Electric Guitar:

The G&L Tribute Bluesboy is a fantastic guitar. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for a couple of reasons. First, the guitar tends to be heavy. It's not Les Paul heavy, but it tends to run 8-8.5 pounds, but if you do not mind a heavy guitar, the return is incredible sustain and great action. Second, the humbucker tends to sound dark in the neck position. This makes it difficult to switch effortlessly between positions because you may have to readjust the settings on your amp or the tone knob on the guitar.

Those things aside, the Bluesboy handles effect pedals very well, plays fast, and has a wonderful sound. I would still absolutely recommend this to a friend, just be sure to understand what you are looking for in a guitar prior to purchasing. It has that classic tele style, has some really great pickups (especially the middle position combining the bucker and MFD), and can handle a variety of different music styles. The pickups are not overpowering like P-90s. They have a much higher output than single-coils, but allow you to add in effects at just the right level. The downsides (to some) are that it is a heavier guitar and the neck position can be dark.

Comments about G&L Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Electric Guitar:

I bought this G&L Asat Tribute on a whim....and I could not be happier with what I received for the price. Took it out of the box tuned it and started playing. Pup's sound good, setup was good, and the finish is very nice! The neck pocket is very tight, I haven't anything to complain about on this guitar. Musician's Friend did everything right. Over the years I have bought 4 or 5 guitars from them and have never had a problem with them about returns (only had one and that was not their fault) I will continue to do business with them in the future. This guitar is much better than a MIM Fender. It's not an American Standard but for the money it is a very nice little guitar! So far I am very pleased with it.

Comments about G&L Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Electric Guitar:

Really, really solid guitar for the price. Would take this baby over a MIM any day. I've had this for about 6 months now and it hasn't let me down.

The bridge pickup is super solid and very bright. Can handle distortion with no problem.

Bridge, and Neck pickups sound very solid together. A great tone between too bright and too dark.

Bridge pickup is the only minor complaint I have. The tone is slightly flat but still sounds great none the less.

Would recommend this over a MIM anyday. G&L's are very high quality.
