OVERVIEW

A familiar silhouette with dual humbuckers and coil-tapping.

The G&L Tribute ASAT Deluxe II Electric Guitar sports two Paul Gagon-designed humbuckers straight from the award-winning ASAT Deluxe Carved Top, complete with push/pull coil tap to wring out every last drop of tone.

The Deluxe II features an easy-playing, medium-C profile neck with 12" radius and 1-5/8" nut width for a classic ASAT feel that greets the hand like an old friend. Add on TonePros bridge/tailpiece hardware, delicious Irish Ale-finished mahogany body and hard rock maple neck with rosewood board and you've got one versatile ASAT that effortlessly covers a wide range of sonic territory.

The Deluxe II has popped up before in short-run Custom Creations models made at G&L's Fullerton, California shop, but this is the first time it's been this widely available. On top of that, it's part of G&L's Tribute Series, which has been garnering rave reviews for more than a decade thanks to its solid combination of tone, quality and value. Case sold separately.

Comments about G&L Tribute ASAT Deluxe II Electric Guitar:

I ordered this guitar sight unseen when it was listed as the "Stupid Deal of the Day". The guitar was not at all what I expected. First off, the build quality is fantastic. Mine arrived near ready to play, all I had to do was tune the strings, no lengthy set up or adjustments were needed. Once tuned I plugged it into my practice amp (Fender Frontman 25R) and started playing. The neck is fast and smooth. Without a doubt the easiest playing guitar I've ever put my hands on. The pickups are amazing. I played for a good 30 minutes before I remembered that it has coil-tapping. I thought the humbuckers were amazing, but once split the tone really came alive. There are six very distinct sounds you get with this guitar. My personal favorite is coil-tapped neck pickup only. The controls are extremely simple, one volume, one tone, and a three way toggle for the pickups. The only way this guitar could be any better is if each pickup had it's own tone control and you could coil tap a single pickup and still use the other as a humbucker. But I am definitely not complaining. I love the simple set up and the tones I can get. Oh, and this guitar has sustain for days, probably twice as long as the Epiphone SG I used to play.

As for looks, this guitar has them. The picture makes it look like it has a red hue, but it is really a nice dark brown. It says Irish Ale, and they definitely nailed the color. This guitar is as beautiful to look at as it is easy to play.

Overall, I would totally recommend this guitar to anyone. I play a wide variety of music and this guitar can handle any of it. If it is ever listed as the "Stupid Deal of the Day" again I will probably order another one so I can have one standard tuned and the other in Drop D.

Comments about G&L Tribute ASAT Deluxe II Electric Guitar:

Wanted A G&L for a while now, picked this one up on a MF Stupid Deal, actually it was a very smart buy! A Five Star because of the great value!
Build Quality, Fit and Finish, even Setup were way above average at this price point! No need to quick rite away change strings, no need to make a bunch of tweaks, mostly ready to rock on, or country or blues or ???, very versatile indeed. Just needed to adjust the pickup height, pretty normal stuff, No this may not be an every man guitar, but dang close, it just does most things right, great voice, a bit of growl when properly over driven, lots tonal flavors with the split coils, can fake a Strat or a Tele, full humbucker mode is warm and defined, lotsa punch! The neck, the neck the neck, got it? You can buy higher priced guitars that will not have a better playing/feeling neck, stays in tune very well too. The Mahogany body has good weight, was nicely matched and fitted, no seamy or planky looking sections, no finish shrinkage, pretty cool shade of wine red. Not all kinda fancy trim, binding and such, not a real head turner, but it has a vibe and a quiet kool that says, plug and play dude! Many of us enjoy Telecasters, gotta like em, the G&L ASAT Tribute goes one better than the Standard MIM in my opinion, guess it was designed that way! No unhappy endings here!

Comments about G&L Tribute ASAT Deluxe II Electric Guitar:

I love the look and design of this guitar. I'm quite pleased with the finish and the comfort of the neck but what has really knocked me out is the pickups. At first I wasn't sure when I compared them to some of my other guitars with humbuckers but when I used the ASAT Deluxe II in rehearsal with other instruments they cut through yet the tone is there and pleasing. Got instant comments from some of the other band members about the sound of the guitar. What a great deal. I have other G&L US made instruments and love them and this guitar is a fine instrument at such an affordable price.
