OVERVIEW

The Fiorano: tradition turns groundbreaking.

G&L founder Leo Fender had a vision for a new guitar, and his partner George Fullerton sketched that vision. G&L’s Steve Grom uncovered the sketch three decades later in Leo’s workshop, and his colleague Paul Gagon set about turning the vision into reality. He enlisted Jackson Guitars founder Grover Jackson – a long-time friend and collaborator – to contribute. The result is an instrument that’s steeped in rock-guitar history but groundbreaking: the Fiorano, the first set-neck, 25½”-scale, three-tuners-to-a-side guitar G&L has ever offered. It’s a striking instrument and, quite simply, it kicks ass. It joins the pioneering 24¾”-scale Ascari in G&L’s Tribute Series, and it delivers on its promise. The 24-fret neck and Gagon-designed humbuckers are made for brutal riffing and detuned/drop-tuned heaviness – but the Fiorino cleans up beautifully when asked.

Comments about G&L Tribute Fiorano GTS Electric Guitar:

Setup out of box was horrible. Terrible fret buzz on A string. After a quick truss rod adjustment
and setup this guitars rocks. G&L are solid guitars thanks to Leo. No noise from pickups.
Talk about some dirt and grind but sounds great clean too. Awesome.....

Comments about G&L Tribute Fiorano GTS Electric Guitar:

I won't call myself a "Professional", as it's been a few years since I've written & recorded albums and done 30+ shows a year; I mostly write & record at home now.

I've owned a lot of guitars, I've played a massive variety of pure vintage relics to custom jobs to budget jalopies, and I do all my own minor work on my guitars. I've always loved G&L, and was intrigued by these new GTS models (Ascari & Fiorano) - and I'm so happy to be an owner now. This thing totally rocks, for lack of a more sophisticated phrase. I got a real deal on mine, but at the normal price they're still killer - and IMHO, an ESP, Ibanez and Schecter-killer, in the sub-grand range. I've owned all of these, and if I were to go on tour tomorrow I'd immediately buy another Fiorano as my backup.

I like the Paul Gagon custom pickups, they're pretty awesome for a "budget" axe, but I'm also curious to see how it might sound with Fastback Beard Combers, or Neck Breakers....

The only "improvements" I can think of are just personal preferences: use a standard tone pot and get a coil-splitter switch instead, locking tuners would be nice, and the abalone dots are elegant enough, but I'd dig big blocks too. I don't mind the heel joint at all, it's contoured perfectly, so I don't see a need for a lower profile there.

This is a truly killer guitar.

Comments about G&L Tribute Fiorano GTS Electric Guitar:

I own too many guitars and this is my latest as of me writing this. I'm thinking Leo would be proud of this. Great sounding pups imo and good controls. One volume pot wiggles a slight bit & I will look into that. Its the one that splits the pickups by pulling it up. I dig the red top with black sides & back. Looking for a case to buy for this so tonight I tried several of my other guitar's cases and noticed this guitar has a similar height as my Hagstrom Ultra Swede where it won't fit just any case because the bridge sits a bit higher than many other guitars and to close the case would put pressure on the body & neck and could eventually cause problems. I've searched the internet for info on a case but so far no cigar. I'm sure there is one that will fit & I will keep searching. Ive got PRS, Hagstrom, Schecter, ESP, Fender, Gibson, Hanson, Wechter and this guitar fits right in.
