Comments about Godin Freeway SA Electric Guitar:

When you know that the maestro John McLaughlin had been using Freeway SA extensively (both albums & live) in the past several years, that says a lot about the quality of this guitar.

Check out his website, he commented very highly on his Freeway SA's (he has at least two).

Comments about Godin Freeway SA Electric Guitar:

Craftsmanship is very good at this price point. The guitar is comfortable and easy to play.

MIDI tracking is really great with my Roland GR-20, way better than my previous GK setup. I think the improvement comes from the fact that the sound of the Freeway is not especially rich in harmonics as compared to a Fender or Ibanez. While this "feature" helps tracking better, it's not an advantage when used as a normal guitar to play certain music styles (some reviewers blame the Godin pickups, but I believe it's rather the guitar body/neck).

To summarize I would say it's excellent for MIDI, but you won't play metal with it.

      Good guitar plus midi driver

Comments about Godin Freeway SA Electric Guitar:

Got it a year ago. It was set up almost perfect right out of the box. Plays great. Very little buzz yet has light action. No problems with the electronics, hardware or adjustments. Nice and light. Feels good. Sounds good. Nice gig bag came with it too.I am satisfied, and that ain't so easy! ;-)

      Excellent guitar

      By Pi Thor Project

Comments about Godin Freeway SA Electric Guitar:

Godin Freeway SA.A fantastic guitar. Biggest bang for your buck under a grand. I've owned a Freeway SA for over 2 years now, with no issues after routine play. The built in Ghost saddle pickups in the bridge offer excellent tracking. I thank my lucky stars I didn?t drop cash into a GK3 pickup with installation on my Strat. The Godin Freeway is a complete package. The stock pups are excellent. This musician will not waste his time dropping in other pups. Guitar sounds great with 13-pin patch cord to my Roland GR20 or standard cord to my Digitech GNX4.Maple neck is solid and straight. String action was perfect out of the box.The versatility of this axe allows me to lay down Synth tracks (symphony strings, flute, voice, sitar, etc.) into Cakewalks, and then switch to the standard HSH pickups for solo work.Highly recommended for the multi-track musician who wants a large selection of sounds with synthesizer exploration.

Godin: Best Choice After Deep Research

      By Citadel®Whitman

from In the room where my Boca waits, USA

Comments about Godin Freeway SA Electric Guitar:

Playing since ?77, first try at midi. I spent several hours researching the self-mountable GK-3, the Terradac P/U & the internally mounted GK?s in Fender, Brian Moore & Godin guitars. From what I can deduce, the Ghost Shadow Pickup internally mounted in the Freeway is Godin?s own proprietary design. With the stellar reviews, the price & Godin?s reputation for quality ? I chose this Freeway SA. It arrived quick, in perfect condition. I hooked it thru my GR-20 & after minor tuning & sensitivity tweaking, I played non-stop for nearly 4 hours! I?ll have to dial in the sensitivity better once I clean up my sloppy playing ? which is the only hurdle I?ll face in mastering this. This axe is clean, solid, well-made, frets & neck are dead-on, the balance is perfect, three pickups give a full sound spectrum (non-midi) & the switches feel like they?ll last.

Maybe I got a bad one

      By SGGrl

      from Seattle

Comments about Godin Freeway SA Electric Guitar:

I got my Freeway SA as my starter guitar. I'd heard a lot of good things about Godin, and I also own another one of their guitars (LG Signature that came with Duncans) which I would rate 5 stars. I also own a Gibson Les Paul that I give a 4.5 star rating (I hate the tuners, but otherwise would be another 5 star). This one however is another story. Getting the action set on this was a time consuming chore because the first fret is high. It needs to be tapped down or replaced. I can't seem to get the local Godin warranty service shop to do anything about it. The center pickup was grossly out of alignment with the strings. Come on. Cheap $150 Peaveys were better aligned. So I contacted Godin again, and was told to take it to the same place. They didn't do that repair right either, and now I can't adjust the height of the center pickup at all. It needs to be lowered because it interferes with my pick. Apparently the screw on one side is stripped. The center pickup seems to be a bit on the dead side soundwise. And the neck humbucker is boomy, and the bridge is harsh. Right now I'm torn between just voiding the warranty on this thing to get the job done right and replacing the pups with something better, or trading it in on a Fender Stratocaster. In my opinion, if you're thinking about this model, I'd keep looking. Save up for a LG Signature, or get something else.

      Awesome Guitar

      By JL-Austin

      from Austin, TX

Comments about Godin Freeway SA Electric Guitar:

I recently bought one of these because of the Synth access. That part of the guitar is awesome. I had originally bought it thinking I would only use it for synth, but after playing it, I could use this guitar for every thing. The pickups are very good. The fret job on this guitar is awesome, better than any of the "mass market" Korean guitars that cost roughly the same.

      solid

      By Addicted2music

      from East Bay, Callifornia

Comments about Godin Freeway SA Electric Guitar:

The freeway sa is one of my favorite synth guitars, which also can do regular duties as a snappy electric. Workmanship is very detailed, the action is fast and smooth. If you have not tried a Godin, you definitely need to, great value, in fact I rarely use my strats any more in favor of the Godins to which I have 5 different models. Best of all, its made in the good ole US-of-A!!
