Thick, sustaining sounds from this big-body guitar.

If you're just striking up on your musical adventure, be sure to pick up the Origin Series Dreadnought from Great Divide. You'll appreciate the thick, sustaining sounds of this big-body guitar. Laminated spruce top and laminated sapele back and sides, mahogany neck, ABS binding, and rosewood fretboard.

The LD-1 acoustic guitar is a product of Two Old Hippies, a company that make guitars under different brand names. The two founders are old enough to have been around when the concept of peace, love and rock n' roll inspired a generation of free spirits, yet young enough to embrace a world community, where generosity, compassion and equality are a way of life.

Great Divide guitars are designed for music-loving folks who want to "take one along for the ride." Though they are full-sized quality guitars you won't want to leave yours behind.

Comments about Great Divide LD-1 Dreadnought Spruce Top Acoustic Guitar:

I recently purchased the LD-1 for my dorm room at college (due to not wanting to get my Taylor Stolen/Killed by humidity) and at only [$] used I thought "what the heck". This guitar has some good qualities but some bad as well. Some good things are its durable, Its a great "beater" guitar. Other things that are pros are the look of the guitar and the feel (for the most part). There are, however, some things that need fixing. First off out of the box it needs new strings. I went with the lightest martins I could find to help lower the action and I also removed the bridge spacers to bring the action down and tightened the truss rod. Now it plays like a dream. One MAJOR problem with this guitar however is the tuning. They aren't the most stable tuners (to say the least) which can be semi-annoying when your guitar has to be tuned every song or so, But for the price the LD-1 is hard to beat. I would say go for it especially if you need a "beater guitar or if your just starting out. Good luck!

A great guitar for so little money

A beautiful guitar and sounds as pretty as it looks. I got the SB version. For an all-laminate guitar, I"m very impressed. Workmanship very nice, no flaws that I can see. Much better guitar than I expected for a deal of the day. Scalloped bracing no less! Strings were very tarnished and three broke in tuning. But I changed them to D'Addario's Medium PB ones. I bought it for $69.95. It sounds as good ot better than others I've tried in the $300-$400 range. If I were a beginner looking for a cheap guitar to start with, this is definitely one I'd go for.
Some day I will upgrade the nut, saddle, and bridge pins to a better grade, and maybe polish the frets a bit. But for what I paid I can't complain. I wish cheap guitars had sounded this good when I started to play, those old Harmonys were impossible to fret and sounded like they were made of cardboard.

Great Divide Guitars - LD-1 = Awesome Cheap Guitar!

    By Curtis Cheney

Comments about Great Divide LD-1 Dreadnought Spruce Top Acoustic Guitar:

    very happy.
Cool guitar, way more attention to detail for the price than others!
I bought this Sunday, and got it Wednesday (today), so this is a first impression review. First of all, I've never reviewed anything online before, but was so pleased with this guitar that I wanted to tell others. I play bass first, and play a little guitar, so I'm not a true guitar player, and am definately a beginner. This is my second guitar. I have a Jasmine cut away guitar, and the Great Divide LD-1 seems 3 times as nice for fit and finish! Everything about the guitar is more substantial, well made, etc. Guitar was nearly in tune when it came and it played well out of the box and mine won't need any set up, maybe new strings, we'll see. Tuners seem nice, higher quality then a guitar in this price range should be! I would hold this up to any guitar at twice the price. The guitar also came with a nice little manual / booklet which was a nice touch, gives care info, shows how to change strings, warrant card, etc. - shows the company's attention to detail. Also came with an allen wrench, and a pick guard which is not attached which is cool so you get to decide whether you want to use it or not. Very satisfied!
Super value, I got it on sale, super cheap, seems about like a more expensive guitar.
