It gets everything from traditional biting Gretsch tones to colorful fat and thick sonic blasts!

The Gretsch G5135PS Patrick Vaughn Stump Signature CVT Electric Guitar comes from the heart and soul of guitarist and frontman, Patrick Stump of the award winning, multi-platinum selling band Fall Out Boy. The vision Patrick had for the STUMP-O-MATIC Electromatic was a versatile solidbody guitar capable of discharging not only classic biting Gretsch tones but also an array of thick, fat, colorful, bombastic sonic blasts at the flick of a switch. It took the genius mind of Tom "TV" Jones to develop the circuit design that brought Patrick's dream guitar to life.

The singing rich sustain of the Gretsch STUMP-O-MATIC Electromatic Guitar comes from the set-neck, string-through-body design and 3 Mega'Tron pickups. The special 2-position rotary switch allows you to keep things traditional or you may choose to dial in the middle pickup in multiple combination settings that includes having all 3 pickups on at the same time.

And if that isn't enough, rapidly manipulating the STUMP-O-MATIC kill switch machinegun-style while the guitar is engaged in full throttle screaming feedback may cause some to duck for cover. A pewter paint job with strategically placed black body stripes makes the Gretsch Patrick Vaughn
Stump STUMP-O-MATIC CVT a must-have in your guitar arsenal.

One heck of a fine guitar

    By TJ

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135PS Patrick Vaughn Stump STUMP-O-MATIC Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:

Agree 100% with other reviewers that have said those that review this badly (specifically about it's tone) have NOT gotten to know this well, and how to properly adjust it's tone. Because, this is by far the best sounding, overall most versatile guitar of my collection. I hardly play my LPs, or LP tone clones, P90 equiped guitars much after getting this. In fact, I got rid of all my single coils, except for one p90 axe and a Nighthawk after getting this. You get all the pluses of single coils, without the noise, AND the wwarmth and fatness of buckers.

As other reviewers have mentione, there is a vast variety of tonal possibilites. You can get creamy, yet articulate and expressive (like no other) tones for blues, twang, clear bell like cleans, Gretsch twang, Gretsch twang with hair, you name it. And it REALLY shines under gain and distorted. Clear, seperated, expressive distortion is the norm. Only my Nighthawk (with a Seymour Duncan in the bridge) has as much tonal variety, and I like the tone of the Gretsch better.
Is this Corvette feature laden? No, but it has everything you need.
The ONLY reason it doesn't get a 10, is yes, to meet the price point, Gretsch used cheaper pots and caps. They are not top of the line Bourns or CTS. But, they are also in no need to be replaced either. Smooth, functional, perfect resistance.

The rest of the quality is what I would expect in top line guitars from other makers. This is Gretsch' 'budget' line, but it would be many other makers top line as far as fit, finish, construction and QC. I'd frankly pay $150 or more, a pop for the pups alone.
Should/could really sell for 2-3 times it's price.

    Tonal Flexibility At Your Hands

    By Dane Stokes

    from Georgia

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135PS Patrick Vaughn Stump STUMP-O-MATIC Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:

Most people who have anything negative to say about this guitar , have clearly not spent enough time with it and they do not know how it works.. Given proper setup this is an awesome guitar that will hold its own against guitars 3 time more exspencive.

First of let me say that I purchased this guitar solely on very few reviews,, and sight unseen..but I have listened to the Fallout boys a few times and were aware of some of the tones they used..

Im very pleasantly surprised so far by this guitar. Manufactured in China I did not have high hope and already had made contingency plans to return it if I found anything I did not like..

Body and neck are solid Mahogany and light as a feather.. But the thinness of the guitar takes nothing away from this tone monster! 21 frets was kind of weird at first but Im not missing number 22 at all right now..

The action can be set very low with no fret buzz.

Finish on the guitar is exceptional, and feel is light as a feather.. A good halfway guitar between a LP and a strat kind of feel..

Sound: two modes of operation on this guitar which produce around 11 or 12 tonal options.. 1st off is the 2 HB mode.. Using the neck and bridge. And 3 way selector bridge has a sweet trebly chimed sound without being too over powering.. But when you crank the volume knob the MegaTron pickup responds well and howls back at you reminiscent of ACDC type tone.. Flipping the three way to mid position gives you neck and bridge combo.. and on clean channels an almost Stratocaster like ringing tonality..Flipping to the third position give you neck only and warm sweet gooiness of a PAF .but still has a touch enough of treble to not mud up and it allows each note to sound out clearly.. Unlike allot of PAFs that mud up and distort to much

Now the three pickup mode is selected buy rotary switch and changes everything the mid HB adds a chunky more percussive feel to everything I described and a touch of warmthSelections would be switch down Bridge / middleUp Middle / neck Center Neck / bridge / middle

This channel is really for wailing out some good solo work and bluesy type cleans. Selecting this channel brings the tone control knob into play also allowing you even more tonal control

Ending this ,, the Gretsch G5135PS ,, is one of the most tonally versatile guitars I have ever had the pleasure of playing and I count it very high on the list of guitars Ive owned.. It can do rock, metal, country, blues, jazz.. Anything you want this darlin can cover it. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for versatility

The only negative there is for this guitar is that it does not come with a case at this price, a case can be purchased from Gretsch, but it is $170.00 more.. If Gretsch could work out a deal on a case for this they would sell a million of them...
I've counted up to 11 different tones by just adjusting the knobs and switches so far..
at this price you get a guitar that will hang with any from Carvin to Lespaul, to PRS...

Great Playing Guitar worth the $$

    By Rockin Art

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135PS Patrick Vaughn Stump STUMP-O-MATIC Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:

I just got this guitar today and believe me it's every bit of the guitar Gretsch said it was. The 12 plus radius, makes this guitar very smooth to handle. And the Mega Tron humbuckers are great will give you crystal clean sounds to really screaming high's. Although not an expensive guitar you could spend 4 times the price not get a better guitar. The Guild Gretsch G6286 is the case made for this guitar if you can find one. I bought the Gator GPE-LPS ATA-Style LP Style Rectangular Case for this baby, also the Gator GC-LPS Deluxe Case also fits this guitar. Buy it you'll love the sounds this guitar makes.

    Legen...wait for it...Dary!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135PS Patrick Vaughn Stump STUMP-O-MATIC Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:

Let's start at the top and work our way down on the sweet Gretsch Stump-O-Matic Corvette. The head is sweet, very slick, good. The Tuners are awesome, holds a tune like a dream. The neck is nice, I'm not a fan of a gloss neck, but this neck plays almost as well as a satin finished neck. The frets are pretty sweet, good action on them. The fretboard is a little wide for me, I'm used to the necks on my Schecter C-1 Hellraiser and C-1 Classic, but I'm definitely loving it. I'm also used to a 24 fret neck, instead of the 21 on the corvette, but the cutaways allows you to hit all 21 frets with no problems. The body is awesome! It's slim, sleek, and light. It's very comfortable whether you play it up high like a jazz/blues guitarist or down low like rocker. The electronics are amazing! First off, the pick ups sound sweet. Clear as a bell or thick and juicy, they'll do what you want. They don't give you a very good metal sound, but can handle a pretty heavy distortion. Also, you can't get the twang of a Tele, but you can get some if you work the pickups. The center position of the three way toggle is my favorite, the tone is crisp, clear, and powerful; great overdriven sound. The third pick up is great for feedback, thick sound, and rhythm guitar. It's not very good for the lead guitar sound because you lose some clarity, but if you turn it down a bit using the dedicated volume knob, you can fix that right up and blend a sweet array of tones. The only thing I would change is adding one more volume knob, making each pick up independant. The killswitch is awesome and allows you to do some cool tricks (i.e. Tom Morello type stuff). As we all know, Tom "TV" Jones is an electrical genius! The string through body give this sweet lady some great sustain. The jack is in a great position, and doesn't hit anything (if I leave it plugged in) when on my warwick rockstand. The Paint job is hot. The pewter is set off by even the slightest amount of light and the stripes are cool. The knobs are sweet, a little big in my opinion, but sweet none the less.Overall, this is probably the sweetest guitar I own as far as playability, tone, and comfort. Like I said, if you want metal, get something with an EMG 81/85 combo, like the new Schecter C-1 Hellraiser (because you can now tap the 81/85 combo), otherwise get this beauty right here, it's the new hotness, while other guitars are old and busted.Gretsch outdid, not only themselves, but everyone on this one. Best value for this price, and more. Plays better than my old roommates PRS and LP. I love my new baby, and she loves me back!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135PS Patrick Vaughn Stump STUMP-O-MATIC Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:

The Gretsch Stump-o-matic Corvette, is a great guitar.I got it in the mail two days ago and I couldn't be happier. It came out of the box looking gorgeous. I was surprised, but it was actually set up quite well. It even came out of the box in tune, quite impressive. The pick ups sound fantastic, you can get a really good single coil sound, which is weird, and when the middle pick up is activated it has a great humbucker tone. Also, it has the coolest strap buttons I've ever seen. They are almost like strap locks that come standard on it.
