Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435T Electromatic Pro Jet w/Bigsby Electric Guitar:

I ordered this guitar from MF but it was backordered for weeks so I decided to purchase one from a music store in Texas. The owner set it up for me prior to shipping. It is a brand new 2011 gold Pro Jet. It's been sitting in his store for a few years and was perfect when I received it.
This guitar is solid--nice tone, nice hardware, and looks amazing. The weight is perfect, not too heavy, not too light. The sound is, well, it's Gretsch. Not a single coil sound, not a humbucker sound (although they are mini humbuckers) but something altogether different. I love it. No matter what you play--rock, blues, jazz, you will love this axe. I did replace the tuners with locking tuners (Gotoh). I use 9.5s and have no problem whatsoever with the Bigsby. I don't dive bomb so it is perfect for me. I have had it about a month and it's all I play. Now I am going to save up for a 2K Gretsch!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435T Electromatic Pro Jet w/Bigsby Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar as a substitute / replacement for 2 other different manufacturers models that I was not pleased with do to quality issues. I have been playing it for aproximately 2 weeks now and for the most part am happy, however there are 2 quality issues that should be noted. #1 there is a minor "dime sized" blemish on the very top edge of the headstock and #2 the 6th string (pickup??) is dull sounding and not as bright as the other bass strings.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435T Electromatic Pro Jet w/Bigsby Electric Guitar:

When I first layed my eyes on this twang-machine, the Les Paul-like qualities of it made it seem like it should have a bit of low-end growl to it. The first time I plugged it in, however, I realized that this puppy is a Gretsch to the bone.

First the bad because frankly there is not much of it:

        - I had a real problem with loose knobs and switches (like falling off while I was playing). Easily fixed, though, so no big deal.
        - The Bigsby is just plain unusable because of the tuners and the nut. I lubricated the nut, which helped a little, but you can only do so much with bad tuners. The strange part is that if you don't use it (the trem), it stays in perfect tune forever. I'll check back after I replace them.
        - The controls are just... bizarre. After playing this guitar for several months, I still find myself turning knobs trying to figure out exactly what they do. Some do a lot. Some seem to do nothing at all, or very little.

That being said though, what a great guitar!:
        - Right out of the box it played pretty close to perfectly. The neck is thick, but it plays very fast and with no buzz (I use 10's on this guitar).
        - The work on the glued-in neck is wonderful, especially for a guitar at this price-point (I don't know about that MSRP though).
        - The body seems like it's going to be heavy when you look at it(that Les Paul thing again), but the routed-out basswood body keeps the weight down. It's still not light, but it won't break your back.
        - It's got loads of the Gretsch kitsch aesthetic. This is one funky axe!

Unplugged, it's very loud, a great guitar to practice with. Good sustain. The pick-ups seem to be ok, although I'll probably upgrade them as soon as I get up the gumption.

The tone is somewhat mid-rangy and clean, and perfect for twangy rockabilly and electric country. A real pleasure to play, although you'll need a strap to sit down with it.

Great guitar for Rockabilly, Punk, alt, really anything but metal (and even then it does ok, just doesn't look the part).

My second guitar...and I should have bought this one as my first back when............

So much more comfortable then the 335. And I love the looks of it. I like the Bigsby as it adds a nice touch to the looks, so I choose the Bigsby equipped model.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435T Electromatic Pro Jet w/Bigsby Electric Guitar:

This was my second guitar to a standard strat and to be honest I never intended to love this guitar as much as the strat. When I first got it I immediately loved the Blacktop Filter'Tron humbuckers Gretch offered us. (though soon I changed them) This guitar of course doesn't sound like a real high end Gretch but it's getting closer and closer. Now I use this guitar as a recording and practice guitar, but for all those guitarist who wants a decent guitar for this price range, don't hesitate on getting your hands on the pro jet. It is worth the money you are paying. Have fun with this baby and God bless.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435T Electromatic Pro Jet w/Bigsby Electric Guitar:

I am a lifelong bassist and felt the need to stretch myself and get a guitar. Acoustics have crazy high action so I chose to go electric. I have a friend who has a Gretsch and I knew I couldn't go wrong with this.

Right out of the box it feels great. Learning on this is fun and easy. The action is perfect. The guitar is light and very playable.

I have to concur with a previous review, however. The controls are beyond confusing. Depending on the switch position, any two of the knobs could be volume while the others vaguely control tone. Move the switch again and you are hunting for the right combination.

Almost seems like a set it and forget it kind of deal. You have it set up for one style of play and that is it. My Warwick Infinity bass is so simple, not sure why a guitar a quarter of the price would need a quantum physicist with a minor in string theory to figure out the controls on it.

In all, though, I love it

This is a very nice guitar for a very good price. The guitar is very well made and the finish work is very, very nice. I have the gold top, and it is bueatiful!

The guitar plays as good as it looks - very twangy sound, good fret work, nice neck, etc.

I could not be happier with this guitar - Gretsch did a great job!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435T Electromatic Pro Jet w/Bigsby Electric Guitar:

I've had the guitar a week, a gold ProJet G5435T.

The fit and finish is above par for a guitar at this grade level. The filtertrons are very very nice pickups, they fall between single and hummer with a touch of p-90. Very strong.

The neck is a breeze to play, the med-jumbo frets are very good, and bending and vibrato is just as effortless as my PRS McCarty.

The tuners are just ok. I'm not a modder, but this would be an upgrade area if I was. They don't slip, they just don't have much mass.

THe Bigsby, well there it is. It's terrible. Very very unresponsive, but I am a 40 yr. strat player so thats probably my issue.

The control assembly of knobs is very confusing, I had to research and print off detailed discriptions of exactly what each one does, and they still don't match up.

THe finish is perfect, not sparkly or LP gold, more of a coppery gold that is very warm.

All in all an exceptional guitar if they would place the bigsby back about 4 inches to facilitate easier operaton.

Stays in tune, nut needs some lube, jack plug was loose, shouldn't be on a 6 bones guitar.

Past that, a stellar sounding and playing instrument.
