Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6136TBK Black Falcon with Bigsby:

This is my favorite guitar I have many Gretsch Guitars but this one is by far my favorite. More so than my White Falcon (G6136LTV) and that says a lot cause I love my White Falcon. It is stunnnning to look at and it plays as good as it looks. This Guitar with its longer scale and feel could easily be anyones main guitar. You can get almost any tone you are looking for except it will be a more round (full)tone. I am not good at writing reviews but I would recomend this guitar to ANYONE who is ready to get serious.
The Filters have had a lot of bad press in my opinion. It is true that the mudd switch is pretty useless. The TV Jones PickUPs in Most of my other Gretsch Guitars Just dont have the same feel (not that they are less than great just they are MUCH different). This is a great investment and will hold most of its value over time.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6136TBK Black Falcon with Bigsby:

Just picked one up as a gift to myself for a very special occasion. Purchased at my local music store, but MF price comparable. I was concerned it might not live up to the cost, but I'm not concerned anymore. It's worth every penny. Every construction detail is top-notch. I surveyed the inside with a small mirror and there isn't a single glue speck or imprecise cut on the interior woodwork. The wiring is clean and neat. The external details are more stunning in person than pictures show. It's a hefty instrument, but lighter than you might expect for its size. The tone is unreal. The Filter'tron pickups are warm, full, and sound perfect clean or distorted. The resonance of the body carries through nicely to the amp, too. Perhaps most impressive is the string sustain you get with this. Strum the strings and they just sing forever.

I run mine through a 90's Fender Twin or my practice amp, a Vox Nighttrain 15. A touch of tube overdrive on either gives this one of the nicest tones I've ever been able to get myself. It's far more versatile than you might expect for a Gretsch hollowbody, though, getting fantastic rock tones, beautiful clear mellow tones with fingerstyle playing, and even grungy or metal tones with the right effects as well as the classic twangy country tones or blues tones you'd normally associate with Gretsch. Some have commented that you can't exactly shred with this guitar and though I'm not a shredder myself, I found the neck to be extremely fast if you need it to be. While the aesthetics may not speak to the metal crowd, it could even handle shredding duties if you needed it to.

I love mine. If you have the means, pick one up. You won't be disappointed.

        Worth Every Penny!!!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6136TBK Black Falcon with Bigsby:

this guitar is amazing. The tone is absolutely beautiful, and the quality is exceptional. I own many high end guitars and will be the first to admit that most of them are overpriced. But the Falcon is absolutely worth the price. you feel the quality the second you take it out of the case, and then you plug it in and it is untouchable. this thing is great for any style of music. it does rock, blues, country, basically anything you want. Do yourself a favor, BUY THIS GUITAR!!!

        Amazing, not just for rockabilly

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6136TBK Black Falcon with Bigsby:

I play a huge variety of music; from Elvis Costello, Neil Young, The Cure, U2 and even punk stuff like The Clash and X. This does most of those very well. The Filtertron humbuckers are quiet but full. I can go from bright to twangy to rich and mellow with just a few adjustments. After trying different types of strings (10s DO NOT sound very good or hold tune very well on this with extensive Bigsby use), I've come to the conclusion that this absolutely sings with 12s! No, I can't shred on this thing like Slash, but I don't think too many shredders will be drawn to the Falcon.I own a Gibson Les Paul Classic, a Fender USA Jazzmaster and play through a Fender Hot Rod 4 this isn't my every day guitar but it's definitely my favorite. It took a lot of hard work and saving up to get it (even used like I did) but it was well worth it.
