Guild

Start the celebration with your new Bluegrass Jubilee acoustic guitar.

Guild has been building dreadnought acoustic guitars since 1963, and their instruments are revered for their value, reliability, tone, responsiveness, outstanding projection, and sustain.

The Guild D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee Dreadnought has a full-bodied, high-volume body style that was developed with an emphasis on string-to-string balance, so that treble, mid and bass registers project evenly. The result is an incredibly musical and versatile dreadnought. The acoustic guitar's top is solid red spruce, offering full balance and projection. The solid mahogany back and sides bring out rich tone, and complement the projection of the spruce top. The Indian rosewood bridge and fretboard produce lasting sustain and tonal clarity. The Gotoh 700 Series nickel-plated open-back tuners add precision to your tuning and the chrome hardware bring out a beautiful shine.

Other unique features on the Guild D-40 acoustic guitar include: ebony headcap, dovetail neck joint with slim heel, lightweight laminated birch tail-block, 30' radius top, red spruce scalloped braced top, pearl dot position inlays, bone bridge pins, bone nut and saddle, tortoise shell bindings, classic guild rosette with tortoise shell stripe, tortoise shell pickguard, dual action truss rod, and a high-gloss finish.

Comments about Guild D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee Acoustic Guitar:

This is a lively and responsive guitar, fun to play. The action took a small amount of getting used to as I usually play a archtop with medium jumbo frets, but after a half an hour I am very comfortable. I tried several "boutique" handmade and custom guitars that were highly hyped, but sent them back. This is a keeper. The mahogany and red spruce sound just great. You can't go wrong here---and no, I do not work for Guild!!

Comments about Guild D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee Acoustic Guitar:

Great powerhouse dreadnoughts that have a beautiful voice with amazing volume and dynamic range. I'd like to get my hands on one of the new D-55s soon.

For strings PB .013's sound best on this model to me.
US built, built with high quality top grade woods, great case, great setup. Amazing Tone!!! These D40 Bluegrass Jubilee Guilds easily give the Martin D-18GE a run for its money. The voicing they are doing in New Hartford CT rivals companies like Collings and Santa Cruz. If you've played a Tacoma, Westerly, or Corona D40 be sure to try one of the newest NH CT built models before you right off Guild acoustics. Bring one of these too your local bluegrass jam and people will be amazed that Guild is building these great instruments. You are getting a boutique voicing from a factory built company from what I have heard.
The fit and finish seem on par with what Martin is doing and better than Gibson is doing. The case is also decent quality.
In the used market these is no better bang for the buck than these Bluegrass model Guild dreadnoughts. They are a ton of bang for the buck. New they are a bit spendy but worth the money IMO.
