One Terrific Instrument

By Tom R

from Piedmont Triad, N.C.

Comments about Guild GAD-JF30 Acoustic Design Series Jumbo Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for about two years now and it just keeps sounding better all the time. It is superbly crafted, easy to play and looks and sounds just great. It was the first Guild I ever own and one that encouraged me to acquire other similar jumbo body models. One reviewer commented that these Chinese made guitars can't hold a candle to the old Westerly built Guilds. Maybe that is true for some old Westerlys. However, I have owned two and couldn't unload them fast enough. They simply didn't stand up to the test of time and were difficult to play. Am glad I instead still own this Chinese made model. It is simply wonderful. That is not to say that I wouldn't again purchase a U.S. made Guild. I have two dreadnaughts from Tacoma and they are wonderful - in fact much better than the Westerlys I once had. But this jumbo body model is indeed a prized possession and one that I someday hope to pass down to one of my kids. Don't hestitate buying one. You won't regret it.

Don't believe the Critics; Play one your self

By Pastor Jdh

from Florida

Comments about Guild GAD-JF30 Acoustic Design Series Jumbo Guitar:

Anyone who says these can't hold up to a Westerly Guild are living in the dark ages. Instead of believing the naysayers who are mad because they paid so much for an often inferior guitar go to a good guitar shop with a good variety and play them all and you will find the GAD series to blow you away and if you are not prejudice you will want one. I played a Westerly Guild recently and could not get it out of my hands fast enough to pick up my GAD again and play something that sounded full and beautiful. The only problem I had was embarrassing the other fella who owned the Westerly Guild.

Trust in Guild

By JUDA

from NY

Comments about Guild GAD-JF30 Acoustic Design Series Jumbo Guitar:

This is a great jumbo from guild. There is a reason they have been making this same model (in one incarnation or another) for 50+ years. The craftsmanship is still there, despite the ownership of the company now a days, and the country of manufacturing (China in this case). The materials are high quality, and the timeless design still holds out, and booms out the sound. The pickup sounds great too. If your looking for a modern Jumbo that still kicks out that vintage sound, id recommend this Guild. If your savvy, you might go looking for a used model and save yourself a TON of cash, and still get all the perks, they made enough of these over the years that finding a really good condition used JF30 should be no great search... the 1998 (ish) version for example with the larger "red" pickguard is a good place to start. I like the natural finish (that's what mine has), but the "ice tea" finish is very cool as well. AND its worthwhile to note, that the standard hardshell archtop case is GREAT.

JF30 Guild Jumbo

By Loose Garv'el

from San Jose Ca

Comments about Guild GAD-JF30 Acoustic Design Series Jumbo Guitar:

One of the nicest guitars I've played the tone is very expressive and the booming sounds blows rooms away. Many times I've had players after a gig tell me the guitar sounded fantastic! Really it's all the guitar. Needs good set up every year give or take, likes to be out of the case. Good neck, love it. I play a 1991 JF30 and love it

Pretty much perfect

By JacStotty

from Traverse City, MI

Comments about Guild GAD-JF30 Acoustic Design Series Jumbo Guitar:

I have to say that this guitar blew my expectations away when I played it. I knew Guilds were known for their jumbos, but this was perfection at first listening, sight, and touch! I love the sound that it has with just such deep and rich expressiveness to the sound. The overtones that it produces are excellent and will not disappoint. The maple sides and back are beautiful and give the guitar that little extra flare to the look and the sound. The only thing that made this guitar better was when I installed the L.R.Baggs M1 Active. It will hold its own against any other guitar out there.

Big, Fat Sound at a Modest Price

By slcmdj

from Ebensburg, PA

Comments about Guild GAD-JF30 Acoustic Design Series Jumbo Guitar:

I have been playing and recording music for over twenty years and I have to say, the Guild GAD-JF30 is one of the finest guitars I've ever owned. The AAAA flammed maple back and sides are beautiful, as is the dark wood binding (one of my favorite features). As for sound, I've used this guitar in bluegrass sessions and had no problem competing with a roomful of Matins and Taylors. Furthermore, the sound of this guitar is far richer and more expressive than most I've played, with rich, deep lows, and balanced highs. And, this guitar sounds great through a Dean Markley pro-mag pickup. Buy this guitar, you won't be let down.
