This is the second time I purchased this model. The first one I traded for a Taylor 12-string, but I always wanted the Ibanez back. Now I have the updated version. This guitar has a lot of features for the money. The new pre-amp is nicer, and has an on-board tuner. Nice to have on a 12-string. It also features both a 1/4 inch and XLR balanced output jacks, so for gigging and recording, this should give a lot of options.I love the size, the thinner body makes for a very comfortable piece to hold. It has killer looks. The construction is typical China Syndrome, overbuilt and overfinished. I expected this from past experience, so this is not a negative. This is no Taylor, but you are not paying Taylor prices either. For someone looking to get into a 12-string, and willing to do a little set up work to improve playability, this is a great guitar. Laminated construction means it will not improve with age, but makes it less sensitive to weather, etc.
I've been playing for about 19 years, although I'm pretty much a hobbyist who plays with others occasionally. I had owned a Cort 12-string a long time ago and had been thinking of getting another since I believe certain acoustic songs are great with a 12'er. This is one of the finest 12 strings I've ever tried. The body is unbelievably light and although the smaller body doesn't resonate as well unplugged, it is a remarkable instrument. It was playable right out of the box! The onboard tuner is absolutely great. If you're on a budget, regardless of playing level, this beats Ovation any day.
I've always wanted a 12-string-ever since I saw a blemished Martin at a discount store 35 years ago. I finally broke down and got it and it was well worth the wait. This axe has an incredible sound-amped or not. Very easy to play. Of course, you're not going to bar chord it all night but for rich acoustic, sound, it's unbeatable. The on-board tuner is awesome as well although it stays in pretty good tune. Well worth the money--a great guitar!!
The way this 12 string resonates is to die for. I didn't play it for long but I can tell you now, the guitar sounds great. This wasn't very useful, but hey, at least you now know that it sounds great.
Have been a player since 1955, and enjoy the sound of a great 12-string. The Ibanez AE 1812 is such a guitar with features that allow most any type of playing style. Nice looking, great neck, stays tuned and the Fishman Electronics sound sweet. A quality axe for a reasonable price.
This has to be by far the "BEST" 12 string I have ever played for the money! The sound resonates and booms from within. The neck is very smooth and easy to play, and the construction and quality are true to the Ibanez name.. I WOULD recommend this guitar to ANYONE that is looking to add a very HIGH QUALITY 12 string to his or her collection.
This 12-string has some nice features for the price. Great action, a very playable neck, a thinner body than I expected (which makes it very comfortable to play for long periods of time). It does lack some of the rich low end you'll find on more expensive 12-strings, but this is hardly a complaint--the sound is quite good. An onboard tuner is very handy, especially on a 12. It's not my ultimate dream 12-string acoustic, but it's good enough to record with, and for less than 500 dollars, it's a pretty impressive guitar.
I love everything about this guitar. Been looking for an acoustic-electric 12-string for a while, and am glad I waited for this one. Sounds good unplugged but sounds great when amped.
