OVERVIEW

An affordable way to get the classic look, feel, and style of a vintage jazzbox.

The Ibanez AF55 hollowbody electric guitar is an incredibly affordable way to capture the classic look, feel, and style of a vintage jazzbox. The AF55 features maple body, and mahogany set-in neck. And you'll have vibrant, soulful tone flowing from your amplifier, thanks to the ACH humbucker pickups. Whether you're center stage before a full jazz orchestra or play rockabilly, rock, country, or any other style, you'll create the uniquely rich overtones that only a hollowbody electric guitar can offer with the Ibanez AF55.

Ibanez introduced Artcore in 2002 and has been the hollow-body guitar of choice for musicians for the last 10 years. The Artcore's combination of quality workmanship and affordability has created legions of fans from diverse genres as blues, country, rock and jazz. Musicians can find the purity of an old school style jazz-box to a hybrid semi-hollow rocker. Artcore is highly respected for its tone, sustain and the way they hold their tuning and how the series continues to push the boundaries of guitar building.

Comments about Ibanez AF55 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I got name brand solid workmanship, Ibanez's great playablity and nice action on this no frills, functional hollow body platform that is decent as is, and perfect for customizing. Check all things over any new guitar, including tailpiece nuts and tuner buttons for tightness. Tone greatly improves with a string change and even more with a pickup change to alnico's with better pots and capacitor etc. Glad I got it!

Comments about Ibanez AF55 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I've been playing an Ibanez AFS75T for five years and wanted a thicker archtop with more boiNG in the bass for solo guitar. This guitar delivered that, but unlike my thin AFS75, which played well right off the rack, this guitar needed some serious fret work in order to play really well. Could get pricey if you don't do your own fret work. I installed a chet atkins model bigsby and graphite nut and I'm loving it!

Comments about Ibanez AF55 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

It arives with the floating bridge padded. So you have to lossen the strings to remove the plastic. Then you have to fiddle with it to get it placed right. In addition it does not stay in tune well at all. I've had it a couple of weeks and it still drifts out after a song or two. So i'll have to send it in to the shop. It is a pretty nice piece otherwise. Though nothing special.

Comments about Ibanez AF55 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Unless you like a lot of setup work without much in return I would skip this one. It's kinda of a mess and if I didn't get it on sale so cheap or would have to pay return shipping, I'd be sending it back. Trapeze and string spacing is not right for the pickups. In fact I think tailpiece is located off center by about 1/8". Any attempt to adjust tailpiece results in adjuster nuts hitting the strings. 3rd string still buzzes like a mother despite all sorts of adjustments. Sounds very tinny and thin if not plugged in. No projection without the amp. Just metallic sounding. Tuners are pretty poor also. Goes out of tune way easy. The black matte finish will be nearly impossible to keep looking decent. So unless you intend to do a bunch of modifications like the first guy or are really looking to spend a huge amount of time on setup for very little difference in return, I would suggest leaving this one alone.
