Comments about Ibanez AK95D Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Oh my God, this guitar, this guitar, guys, oh my God, this guitar, oh my God.

Where do I begin? I mean, I've played guitars, and a lot of 'em...

This guitar PLAYS like a dream. It's got a nice smooth neck, good feeling frets, the binding is a pleasure to feel under your hands.

It's got sound AND TO SPARE-I do a lot of Folk and Jazz-this guitar does both with equal ease (I mean, come on, it's a friggin' ARCHTOP). Doing some jazz chord runs on it just FEELS RIGHT.

It's quality craftsmanship-Ibanez don't slouch on their midrange instruments. Why this one is a MIDRANGE Though, is beyond me.

The hardware is high quality, the pickups sound good, the colour is... "Sexy" is the way my wife put it, "Right" is the way I put it. It just SUITS me, ya know?

I've not taken it out gigging yet, but will be soon. This is now my main stage guitar.

can't beat this guitar for the price

      By jazz07

Comments about Ibanez AK95D Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

after playing a couple other artcore models, i settled on this one (guitar unseen) because this one has the wooden bridge. after pulling it out of the box and playing it, i immediately saw the potential in this guitar. the intonation was almost spot on, really nice responsive tone, fast easy neck, and it looked super nice. i took it home and did some minor adjustments to it. it is now my favorite go to guitar. it definitely plays better than anything else i have. though i bought this guitar specifically for combo jazz, it actually works really nicely on my alt rock stuff as well. i can not recommend this guitar enough.

      Great Jazz Box.

      By Holy Bearizona!

Comments about Ibanez AK95D Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I actually have the older AK85 which I made into more of a rockabilly box with adding a Ibanez vibrato and roller bridge. This is the second one I have owned and these guitars just play and sound great. One tip on the stock pickups, adjsut the pole pieces. I used to swap out pickups with Gibsons and Seymour Duncans which I though made a huge difference. The stock pickups are pretty good if you just take the time to dial in the height of the pickup and then the height of the screws. I have dialed my AK in so well it sounded right at home next to Gibsons and Gretsches. Actually I got the idea looking at a Filtertron with a lower pickup height but with raised pole peices. You may want to try this before you drop more cash on these guitars, you may just find your tone.

      Awesome

Comments about Ibanez AK95D Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This guitar has beautiful tone. The knobs leave a little to be desired. They are not noisy, the pots are fine, but the plastic is uneven. This guitar is amazing for the price. Just as good as the more expensive guitars of the same style.

Comments about Ibanez AK95D Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This guitar is awesome. All it needed was the neck pup replaced by a gibson '57 classic and voila! I use it to play cool jazz and it produces a very warm cool-jazz tone. Also the dark violin sunburst color looks very fancy. When I got it to replace the neck pup everyone was amazed in the shop with this guitar!

      Value and Quality

      By Anonymous

Comments about Ibanez AK95D Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I've owned my AK95 for six months, and I'm writing this review specifically with a focus on describing this guitar's shortcomings. Here's the only one I can come up with: tuning the G string requires some patience. I've owned three Ibanez Artcores, and each one has had this problem to some degree. The other issue is one of preference: among set-neck guitars, the scarf joint is my least favorite...and I think it's merely an issue of aesthetics. This Artcore model delivers a very jazzy performance. Ibanez has successfully replicated a tone that jazz aficionados search for. It's simply a beautiful guitar; mine is the honey sunburst (although it's more an red-orange to orange-red fade job). The artful matching of the flamed maple back is something to behold.I'm very happy with the playability, tone and construction.

Its a good guitar, with some upgrades it's great

      By Who, Me?

      from Portland,Or

Comments about Ibanez AK95D Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I actually own the AK85 that was the previous model. The only real difference is that mine does not have the flamed maple. After the first couple of years of playing it the wood really warmed up. My only real complaint was that the stock pick ups are not that good. Who ever says that these are as good as Gibson PAFs really doesn't know what they are talking about. I replaced the stock pickups with some Gibson PAFs that a buddy gave me from his 92 standard. The difference in tone is significant to say the least. I primarily use this guitar for recording. I record it primarily through either a Fender Junior with one of several fuzz or distortion pedals that I have built or purchased, or through a Mesa Single Rec combo. I use lots of distortion or fuzz when recording and this thing sounds totally ass whooping. I also own two a couple of Les Pauls and other stuff and this thing gets so much more of a saturated tone. That being said, I don't use it live. I use to much distortion and at volume it feeds back more than I would like, as any hollow body would. In clean tones it sounds very good as well. Big body sound, lots of freq. being amplified. I had to do a fairly extensive set up on mine, but over all it is of a higher manufactured quality than all my other Ibanez guitars other than my late 40's classical guitar. I would really recomend this guitar to anybody seeking a hollow body but can't afford the Gibsons or Gretch guitars. Way better, ironically enough, than the Epiphone hollows.

      A GREAT GUITAR!

Comments about Ibanez AK95D Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I have never been very impressed by Ibanez guitars...til I saw a friend of mine playing this one at a local guitar shop. The smooth jazz sound is amazing, the action is just right, and it's very easy on the eyes...and the wallet. I've owned mine for only a week, and I can't put the thing down!

      Ibanez AK95D

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Ibanez AK95D Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for 4 months now and I couldn't be happier with it. It puts out a warm, mellow sound that is prone to feedback on some amps (especially tube amps). This is not the case with the Henriksen amplifier I own. It has a spruce, not a maple, top with flamed maple back and sides. It is very nice to look at with a bookmatched top and back, and for the money Ibanez can't be beat.
