Like I said, this guitar does everything any metalcore guitar should do without a hiccup. It even has warm cleans. The hardware is great. It's the same as the higher end ART and ARZ guitars, the only difference being the pickups. Having knockoff EMGs doesn't bother me, but I notice with a lot of guitar players name brands matter. Over time this guitar's existence will fall off the face of the earth for two reasons. 1) It has knock off EMGs not real ones and 2) It's an Ibanez. Neither of those things are bad but anyone that plays metalcore associates guitars with EMGs and ESP or Schecter so not many people will realize how good this guitar really is and want to pay a lot more for these names. But I'm completely happy with it and will be gigging with it until the pickups go out and I put in some EMGs or Seymour Duncans or copies of them again or whatever. Sound is sound.
All of the hardware such as the bridge and tuning knobs are high quality stuff. Gibralter II Bridge and etc. The finish is very unique. It makes the guitar memorable. I gave it a 9 only because the pick ups are basically knockoff EMGss. They still sound great. The sound is somewhere between the passive EMG H4/H4A setup and Active 81/85. They have great bite with heavy distortion and in the neck position it sounds very clear and intentional. Like they want you to hear the sound. It definitely excells in high gain situations. Don't get me wrong, the cleans are nice but not as much as a Les Paul studio or Paul Reed. But that's not this guitars purpose.
Quality is very good. Everything is tight, I've played mine a lot and it keeps going which has always been my experience with Ibanez electric guitars. (Lost one in a pool one time, still worked) I took some of the electronics out to see what they looked like. The switch is enclosed in a nice box instead of having the wires hanging out which is also great. Wiring wasn't sloppy at all. There's a sticker on the back of the headstock that annoys me that says CE and something about electronics. It's probably leagally required to be there. It still takes away from it to me. Sticker doesn't want to come off. I don't know exactly what is is but there's something weird looking about the fretboard. It's almost like it contrasts incorrectly. Maybe my imagination.
It's light, the action is super low as on all ibanez guitars, looks awesome and plays great.
Sound is very well rounded even considering its intended purpose (for metal). The pickups have ZERO feedback ALWAYS. I love that. Not even any hum. They definitely excell in distortion as I mentioned but are good clean as well so you wouldn't necissarily have to change guitars for your favorite slow song.
I paid an excellent price for mine with a hard case, a diMarzio cable, and a music book. For that price I got a guitar that is just as good as an ESP EC-400 that looks more distinguished. If you don't care about having fake EMG pick ups that sound pretty much the same, this guitar will satisfy any needs your metal/metalcore/hardcore heart desires. Personally I don't care about brands so I love this guitar. It fills it's role nicely. Maybe someday I'll put some EMG H4s in it but for now there's no reason to.
I was wanting a new guitar. i had some play money and i was wanting to put it into a good guitar.i saw this thing on here and liked what i saw. i was never really to fond of ibanez on the count of the really light weight and the bolt on necks. i prefer set necks and some good weight.so before i bought it i went and seen if guitar center had one so i could play on it for a while. and sure enough they had one in stock. i picked it up and right away i fell in love with the neck on this thing. i could get around on it with ease and it was very playable. the body had perfect weight to it. it wasnt to heavy but wasnt to light so that was an awesome bonous. the pickups were active. that was a huge bonous since i play metal. the pickups in this thing are unreal for a guitar in its price range. i get a fat gibson like low end while getting that ibanez clarity in every note that i am now verry fond of. the guitar is verry well balanced. while i play on stage i dont have the problem of the neck dipping like my epiphone does. but hey dont get me wrong my epiphone still woops ass. the bridge in this guitar is also verry nice. its easy to set up and is easy to play on when your doing palm muting. all in all this guitar has been verry presistant and has delivered verry well everything that i have thrown at it. It is affordale, and its one hell of a workhorse. the quality is astounding. If you get a chance i would go and play one. cheers :)
Great guitar at a resonable price. Ready to play right out of the box. The medium frets are easy to hit. Stays in tune and is relatively light weight. The only thing I've done to mine is lower the action and put on new strings. The stock pickups and toggle work just fine and sound great. I have other guitars in my collection and this on is by far my favorite. Great guitar for any level player. Highly recommend! Ibanez really devlivers with this guitar!
The Ibanez Art300 is amazing. I had a custom American Standard Fender HSS Strat with a EMG Kirk Hammett KH20 Prewired pickguard/pickup set. And I practically gave it to a friend for the Ibanez. I play a lot of Alkaline Trio, Bayside, My Chemical Romance and The Devil Wears Prada, etc. And this can do anything. This guitar is so good I'm planning on getting a whole new custom one made for me. The action on it is so good there isnt a word to discribe it. The Caiman finish is incredible, and the LoZ pickups are throught he roof. The LoZ's Are so perfect, me and my band have our own original stuff we play besides Alk3 covers and Bayside covers, and when I'm playing live I dont even need to use an acoustic anymore, a clean channel and the pickups in the neck position, take care of that just fine and. It's light, its amazing light for a les paul style body. I WILL NEVER PUT IT DOWN! BUY IT! YOU WONT REGRET IT!
i traded for this guitar off of a friend and it is amazing it is by far the best guitar ive ever played and ive played gibsons fenders and everything else. idk how ibanez can sale such a quality guitar at a cheaper price but here theyve done it.id recommend this guitar to anyone.
This is a awosome guitar. It plays like a dream.there's nowhere this guitar wont take you, with its active pickups and sweet finnish. It sounds as good as it looks. And the low price isnt bad either. Its lite, but still has a full sound to it.Very good clean tone even with the active pickups. This guitar can handle anything I throw at it.If your looking for a good deal, this is it.live hard, rock hardrock on
This guitar in short is the best guitar i have ever owned. For any type of music you play this guitar is amazing. If you like hardcore heavy metal like myself there is no limit with this thing. The active pick ups are really good. If you like acoustic this thing is amazing just switch it to the forward pickups and you have an amazing acoustic. This guitar is hands down my favorite i have ever owned. I have gone through quite a few guitars and this one has held up and sounds amazing. The only thing you have to do if you play any thing deeper than drop D is just go get it restrung with heavier strings. The best guitar for the price hands down you have to get this thing.
after three months of playing this guitar, i've changed my mind about it. it is irrational to expect a PRS-style setup (which usually accompanies a PRS price) on a guitar in this price range. it is rational to expect that the factory will do as much as they possibly can in accordance with fquality at this price. they did. this guitar is a great one. it beats out guitars costing four times as much. i have a LOT of electric guitars. most cost at least three times what this one did. most of them dom't play this well, or sound this good. whatever ibanez does to get the art300 to channel its way into your heart, it works. BUY one.
I've owned this guitar for about 18 months now, and I must say it is the best sounding, most comfortable, and easiest to play guitar I've ever owned! The active pickups of this guitar provide great versatility. I mostly play metal and hard rock, but I've been able to get some sweet, warm, "classic rock-ish" overdrive tones out of it as well. The bridge pickup provides the same amount of brightness you would expect from Ibanez, and the neck pickup can be very mellow and relaxing. The setup on mine was perfect, but I also bought this from a store and they may have had a tech set it up there before I bought it. The action is low and smooth...it buzzes a fair amount because of the action on mine, but once you plug it in you can't hear it. I have only noticed one thing wrong with this instrument: some very subtle stress cracks in the finish on the neck, which is why I gave a slightly lower quality rating. These aren't even cracks, more like little lines that are hardly noticeable at all. They haven't changed the playability of the instrument whatsoever.
I bought this guitar and sold my kh 202 and could not be happier with the outcome. This guitar has everything you would need for any kind of music you play. I play heavy metal and the distortion could not sound any better. The active pick ups in this guitar sound amazing. And when you flip the switch up on clean it sound exactly like my fender acoustic. There is no reason not to buy this guitar the price is so reasonable for a quality guitar like this. Even as a member of several band of different playing types i would always use this thing. Buy this and you wont be dissapointed if you have any question regarding this guitar you can find my myspace and send me a message and i will happily respond because if somebody would have done this for me i would have bought this faster than you could have imagined.
