My AG95 arrived yesterday. Here's my review:

First, the look of the instrument…..every bit as nice and beautiful as the photos I had seen online. I was a little concerned because the type of wood (bubinga) varies from piece to piece. I was very pleased with the wood grain and the finish. The pickguard reflects the bubinga grain for a very nice touch.

Second, a little disappointment with the tailpiece. Every photo that I had seen showed the guitar with what appeared to be a wood or wood insert tailpiece. In my photos, you can see that it is an all metal wire-type tailpiece. I got over that pretty quickly when I began to play it.

Another change that, I think was positive is that the pickups are now seated in black plastic instead of white. This was one of the troubling things that I had with the images that I had seen online. The seats are partially covered by the pickguard giving it an unusal look in white. The black seats blend right in with the finsh...hardly noticeable at all.

Initially, I was disappointed with the sound through my Fender (evil) Twin. It was harsh …no warmth. It played very well, though. As good as any instrument that I have owned in my 50 years of playing. Once the small strip of thin packing foam between the wood bridge and the body was removed, suddenly the warmth and roundness of tone were apparent.

Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. It did and will inspire me!

I was disappointed with the amount of work / setup needed. Upper neck had twist and fret work above the twelve fret was was very poor. Strings were buried in the nut. Bridge needed leveling. This guitar needed a lot more QC to be offered to the general public. After the repair and set up the guitar plays fine . At the sale price the guitar is sill a bargain.

Best deal out there in jazz guitars

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AG95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I have owned many great, expensive, vintage jazz boxes (1949 ES 300, '65 ES 330, ES 350, Heritage H550, Guild Starfire III and X150 for starters)and as great as many of those were (at least one was a turkey), this Ibanez is super high quality soundwise and in terms of playability beats them all. In the cruelest sense, if something happened to it, I could get another one if I needed to, though I hope I never need to--I have definitely bonded with it. The only guitars I have played recently which are better (and a good deal) are the Eastman Strings guitars which are way more expensive.I highly recommend this guitar, whether for straight jazz or rootsy, bluesy rock, it will not let you down.

I plugged this guitar into my Marshall TSL head , angled cab (half stack) right out of the box.....although I don't own a Les Paul, I've played and heard many over the years....for half the price you can enjoy the quality and tone of a GREAT guitar. If you have ever played a guitar that sounds so good , you want to keep playing and develope your skill , you know what I mean....

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AG95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I am a blues/jazz novice and enjoy the sound Semi-hollows produce. I've had this guitar for over 7 months and should relay a few things I've experienced: 1) I had a heavy buzzing sound that turned out to be springs on one of my pick-ups but warranty took care of this, 2) the upper corner on the rear string guard has been playing havok on my right forearm so I've had to adjust out of my comfort zone (pull my arm out a bit), 3) The gold finish has started to tarnish already.Other than that, the guitar has a gorgeous finish and sounds excellent when unplugged. I've had it professionally set up and I feel like I'm cheating it plays so nice.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AG95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This guitar is one of the best sounding and playing guitars I've ever played. And let me tell you, I live at Guitar Center, Best Buy, and local music stores. It sounds as beautiful as it looks, and it rocks out hard too. The only think I would ask is that the bridge be pinned to the guitar. Not a big deal, but intonation can be a problem after a few nights of hard playing.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AG95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

My Artcore is an AG 86 TRD, an older model from this one, but basically the same guitar. One of the reasons I purchased the guitar was due to a Guitar Player magazine's endorsement several years ago that went on and on about the quality, fit and finish of the Artcore Series. When I purchased mine I was not disappointed. Besides the obvious eye candy that this guitar is, the neck radius is the most comfortable and 'fastest' I have ever played. The fit and finish is as close to perfect as you can imagine. I agree with Guitar Player magazine when they commented that they didn't understand how Ibanez could produce such a wonderful instrument at these costs (under $600). Word of caution, it dose have a standard free floating jazz bridge ( a hassle in my opinion), and it doesn't intonate as well as a standard acoustic electric. But for sheer playing enjoyability I don't think the Artcore series can be beat. The workmanship is nearly flawless. I play this guitar each and every day. I'm looking now for my next Ibanez purchase. Truly great instruments!

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AG95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar 4 months now, i have playing it almost every time getting into my studio room. Be honest with you that i collected guitars for over 10 years, until now i have 25 guitars from Gibson,PRS,Fernandes,Schectter,Yamaha,Dean,Takamine,Epiphone,Ibanze to B.C.Rich...but for this price you get a Well made guitar, built like a solid weapon plus Amazing sound quality...i don't see how you can go wrong about it. Please note that my guitar made in China, but i have looked over and over from time to times and i have to say that China Products have step up to the better quality compare to years ago. Most the time you paid for what you get but the expensive guitars doesn't means always good, if you lucky to have this guitar made in Korea...then you are the King!

Very nice right out of the box. The finish and set up perfect. The more it's played the more it gets set. The tone is awesome and it plays like butter. I own 13 stringed instruments and this Ibanez is one of the best. I was hoping the one sent to me would have the steel trapeze and black pickup rings...yay! I have another jazz box that I have been upgrading with quality hardware but, it can't hold a candle to this guitar. I love it! Any guitar needs to get used to the environment and adjust to humidity, temperature etc. After being played awhile a string change and new set up does wonders. Play on I say.

I've had this guitar for about four months now and I love it as much as the day I got it. It's a dream to play and it sounds great whether you're playing soft jazz or crank up the distortion for some mean rock and roll. It's held up perfectly for as hard as I play it. Honestly, it feels like playing a 2,000+ Gibson or something. Well worth the money, not to mention I feel like a stud playing this gorgeous piece of work. I would highly recommend buying this guitar.

I bought this guitar solely based on its looks and reputation. When I got it I was blown away by it's "in person" looks. Such a gorgeous guitar... The picture doesn't do it justice. I toy around with different kinds of styles of music and this is an incredibly versatile guitar to play. A little difficult when slamming those high fret solos but it's so comfortable to play that it's an easy transition. It felt a little delicate at first but I'm pleased to learn that it's just a beast. Tone, looks, playabilty and overall value A+++ :D

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AG95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I bought the 2006 model of the AG-95 which is an AG-86. Only difference is finish is wine red vs. Tobacco Burst and has Chrome Hardware instead of Gold. Absolutely love this guitar. Very sweet playing. The pickups are decent sounding but I put Dimarzio Classic PAF's which are reported as "Sounding suspiciously like Super 58's".Neck and fretboard are a players dream. Gordious looking, infact much better than photo. Relatively light weight being a full Hollowbodied guitar. Yes, you have to watch feedback but not a big deal in my book. I have had a Gretsch Tennesee Rose, Gibson ES-137C, Epi Broadway and I can tell you in looks department it blows all them away with the exception of the 137C. It sound better than the Gretch and much better than the Broadway. It plays as easily as the Broadway and Gretsch but lighter weight than either. It has vintage style frets (unlike the 137C) that I like. This is definately a lot of guitar for the money.Very happy with this choice.

This AX is awesome right out of the box. Great for beginners and pros. The pickups are just a little weak for you 70's rockdogs. But that aside she will do any style you or your buddies can throw at her! The cleans are super crisp, Toss in some distorsion and she really barks that thumping rhythm for you. I liked it so much I got an AK86 too. I like them both better than my Gibson Es and Dots, for sure Ibanez out done themselves on these beauties. Try one you'll be happy you did!

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AG95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I've had mine about a year and love it. First, it's a beautiful guitar. The craftsmanship and quality are unreal for the price. I haven't found any flaws in mine so far. Set up and action were fine from the factory. I looked at some Epiphone Dot hollow body guitars in the same price range and they looked cheaply made in comparison. It's easy to play, has a great neck, and stays in tune. It has enough volume to hear yourself easily when practicing unplugged, although it's not as loud as an acoustic. I have an old Gibson Les Paul style guitar too, but I find myself playing the AG95 more often because it's so enjoyable to play. Bottom line- I don't see how you can beat this guitar for the price. Buy it and you won't regret it!

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AG95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I bought the AG95 from MF about two months ago and like it a lot. I have over a dozen guitars but this is my first hollow body. My cousin (who doesn't play) remarked how classy it looks (next to a GLP Studio and Martin acoustic). I closely inspected it for manufacturing/production flaws, but found none. The binding and finish are clean, even, and neat. The neck seems to be straight and the frets (and ends) are smooth. The neck feels like it is between a (2014) Gibson LP Studio and Traditional with very low action. It also stays in tune well.

I did make some adjustments to my taste. I lowered both pickups as they seemed nearer the strings than I would like and raised the bridge height a little. This had no apparent affect on its easy playability, but did seem to lessen the output. It now produces very nice clean tones through a small Marshall amp with a little bit of "quack" with the volume knobs at 9/10. The tone can also be easily altered via the pick up selector and tone knobs.

This is a very beautiful guitar with the gold hardware against the dark bubinga. I was torn between this and the FM and QM versions. All my research indicated Super 58 pick ups on this one and Super 58 Customs on the FM and QM versions. I can't verify if this is so, but whichever it is - they sound very nice. A word of caution - there is packing foam under the floating bridge. I loosened the strings a little until I could remove the foam without moving the bridge.

I'm an avid Ibanez player, and I have two other Ibanez guitars for my usual style of music-RGA121H Prestige, and RGR320EX. I really wanted something pretty to have fun with. I had wanted a hollow body since I could remember, and this one really stood out-especially after seeing the price tag. Very smooth guitar with great warm tone. The bubinga looks fabulous and sounds even better. Trust me, for the price, this guitar can't be touched. It should sell for two times what it sells for. If you want something comfortable, fun, great-sounding, and affordable, this is definitely the guitar for you.
