Versatile HB for astounding price

Comments about Ibanez ARX320 Electric Guitar:

Having sold a Gibson LP Custom and a Studio years back (deep regrets), I wanted a mahogany/humbucker combo. Since my budget was much lower than when living at home in my teens, I took a gamble on something off-shore. How American-made instruments at $2600+ can compete with Ibanez, I'll never know. The neck is thin but round (SG-ish), perfectly finished, not sticky like a Gibson, and it supports low action. No glue around the markers, no protruding fret edges, and nicely finished binding. The body is light, but still very warm in tone. Ibanez kept it to two pieces, as opposed to "cheaping out" with a "pancake" body. I found the pickups to be a little too hot (not noisy, though), but lowering the height was an easy fix. It now has a more natural, woody tone. The top is a nicely figured wine-red, albeit not as attractive as, say, a Carvin. It's also not as over-the-top flashy and cheap looking as some Schecters and LTD's. My only small gripe would be the plastic nut, but that's easily replaced. I own or have owned many of the more expensive instruments out there (Amer. Fenders, Gibsons, Carvins, Rickenbackers, etc.), and have played for 22 years. I know I won't convince someone in the market for a new Gibson to look here, but to everyone else: please don't overlook this astonishing value!

Comments about Ibanez ARX320 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar for two simple reasons. I didn't have a double cut-a-way of this style and I didn't have one this color. The reviews were good all over so I sprung for it.I love it!The weight is very modest without giving up balance and it feels good in my hands. The color on mine is more of a wine than the red that is pictured.Finish is beautiful. The neck is easy to grip if you want to dig into it yet the frets are not too large to move across quickly for lighter, faster work.I play several types of genre and the pickups seem to be adaptive for all of them to the extent that very little effects support if any is needed. But then that is just for me.For a very affordable price it well deserves the Ibanez name on it.

Plays great, looks nice

Comments about Ibanez ARX320 Electric Guitar:

This guitar played great right out of the box. However, the next day, I noticed the neck had a slight bow and the strings began to buzz. A quick adjustment on the truss rod (which is very easy to access in this model) brought the neck true again and I haven't had touched it since. The guitar sounds better than expected. As another reviewer stated, this guitar sounds very close to a Tele and for the style of music I play, it's a great match.

Wow, am I impressed

By RMessina

Comments about Ibanez ARX320 Electric Guitar:

I've been playing lead guitar for over 45 years. Buying a guitar for me is like buying underwear. If it doesn't fit right, it is a waste of money. I've always thought Gibson LP, and the strat was the only guitar that delivered until now. For me to write a five star review on this guitar is not something I would bother to do even if the guitar was satisfactory to me. If you want a really well made guitar, with great tone, looks, and playability, this is it. I won't pay the price Gibson and Fender are offering, and to be quite honest, they aren't delivering for what you pay. I was leary about Ibanez, but wow... am I impressed. A blast to play, real eye candy on stage, and a real buy for the price. Took it out of the box, and it played like it had been set up just for me. Kudo's to the Chinese! They are making a hell of a guitar for Ibanez. I love this thing.

Comments about Ibanez ARX320 Electric Guitar:

There is no way I will ever own an Epi LP Custom. This Ibanez ARX320 blew it out of the water! Playing it through a Spider III, it made it sound exactly the same as a tube amp. It has very high output ceramic pickups, and the pots are great. The pictures online don't look a whole lot like the guitar. This guitar in person looks even more stunning! I don't know how other reviews compare this to a Tele, but it sounds like a LP to me. The wood is very dense and has great sustain, but it is lighter than a Strat! I don't think I will ever replace this guitar, unless it was stolen. I'm now on the Ibanez bandwagon.

It's a Nice One

By Anonymous

Comments about Ibanez ARX320 Electric Guitar:

A quality guitar for cheap? What a novel idea. Ibanez did a great job making this guitar with a very honest price tag. First, the features are nice, with a beautiful deep red maple top, and nice diamond inlays. The pickups are very nice sounding (I play out of a Fender Super Champ tube/modeling hybrid) and the neck pickup is very deep and smooth, and the bridge pickup is twangy with a nice bite. It is kind of harsh on recordings, and if I was to replace one of them (which I probably won't) it would be the bridge pickup. It stays in tune relatively well, and even though I have a tendency to bump the tuners, I only have to tune it once a week. The only problem I have is the A string, from maybe C to E, buzzes when picked hard. I haven't adjusted the action, but I'm sure that there is minimal fret buzz on most guitars (if not, take it to a shop.) This guitar can give out sweet and smooth bluesy tones or hard edged and crunchy riffs, and I would recommend it to anyone looking at a guitar in the $350-550 range.

Ho-hum cherry on top

Comments about Ibanez ARX320 Electric Guitar:

My main instrument choice is acoustic for live and recording while I have all their twins in electric-acoustic for live stuff, so pure electric guitar is not my expertise?so that said, I really like this guitar. It can't quite get a tele sound but close, but it sure can get down and dirty! Someday a set of Gibson 57's may find their way on board but it's fine as is. It is not neck heavy and hangs perfectly on a strap. I also really like the shorter scale neck but the frets seem just a tad large acting like speed bumps on long slides up and down the neck - but not a major thing. The only thing I'm disappointed with is the color. I have an acoustic-electric Ibanez with a transparent cherry top that will knock your socks off?I was expecting the same on this guitar. I was expecting something like the picture, but the cherry top on my guitar is not nearly as "textured" as the one shown and is a much-much darker cherry that what's shown. Other than the color thing I'm quite pleased with the ARX320 and if color is not a primary reason for buying this guitar, you'll be pleased with it too.

intergal tonality

Comments about Ibanez ARX320 Electric Guitar:

Im a true believer in making what you have, usually not thousands of dollars, work best for you. Its perfect for the price. I play clubs and it does just fine and I didn't have to bust the bank. I play through a MARSHALL MG100 half stack with a RP 500. Depending on the care and strings you use, it becomes a real powerhouse of tone and integrity for a beginner or someone who makes money playing. She quickly became on of my family of instruments and will be staying for a long while.

Pleasantly Surprised

Comments about Ibanez ARX320 Electric Guitar:

I ordered this model sight unseen last week. It came flawless, without a blemish. This is surprising, since I don't think I've ever looked over a new guitar and didnt see something off with the nut, the finish, the frets, etc.It took the usual setup; truss rod adjustment, intonation, and I did replace the pickups with Duncan models right away, so I can't comment on the original electronics. Two hours later, I was playing this thing an admiring it from top to bottom. The only thing I would mention is that the bridge is slightly odd, it is fairly tall and might be an obstacle if you're used to playing guitars with a short, flat bridge like Stratocasters have. It just requires a slight change in technique though.Very good instrument for the price.

Amazing

Comments about Ibanez ARX320 Electric Guitar:

Ive been playing for 5 years now. I just bought this guitar replacing my Epi.I weny to guitar center and played it for about an hour, amazed by the quality. I compared it to many stratocasters, other Ibanezes, and many schecters, and it dominated all of them. If there is a guitar better than this for the price, i think it is sold in heaven. This guitar is a must have-Mike
