This is a very nice little guitar if you are interested in crossing over from steel string flat-top or electric to nylon classical/flamenco on the cheap. It features a dual-action truss rod and reference dots for the frets; neither of which are standard on most classical guitars. The Ivorex II nut and saddle are nice. The fretboard was extremely dry out of the box. The frets were badly tarnished. I ripped the factory strings off and fixed both problems using 0000 steel wool for the frets, lemon oil for the board. I put new Martin Nylon Strings on, and she was good to go.The fret dressing is a little rough, but overall the guitar is well constructed. The neck has perfect relief and lines up well. No adjustment needed out of the box. I give the intonation a "B". For a non compensated saddle, it's pretty much on. Nice and even tone for a laminated body. I'm very happy with this product

Overall this is not a very well made guitar. Sure the finish was very nice and it has a big body with a adjustable neck but the sound was terrible and it's hard on the hands with the sharp edges of the frets. Mine had a bunch of flat spots on the neck, basically a lemon guitar. Purchase the Yamaha C40 and you will be much more happy.
Nice finish, clean bod and neck but poor quality. Not worth the price, this is really not a good guitar.
Very poor neck with buzzes everywhere, bad fretwork with sharp edges, really terrible tone.
Not worth the money, it's more of under a $100 guitar. I would not even recommend this to a beginner.

Very Impressed!

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA5 Classical Guitar:

I Purchased this guitar to get started playing nylon strings and get that warm tone they produce, and Boy am I happy to say, it delivered, Big Time. Never thought I'd stick with it with a guitar of this price range but I still play this guitar quite often love it's tone and playability.
It has all the nessesary features with nothing over the top.
It seems to be very well made for a guitar of this price and the all around quality was Great.
Great beginners guitar and Bang for your buck.

A Thing of Beauty

By JohnsWayne

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA5 Classical Guitar:

I love this guitar! It has a beautiful tone, it's sturdy, and it's a complete steal. Some songs just sound better on nylon strings and this guitar gave me exactly what I was looking for. I had to adjust the truss rod because of some buzzing on the first 5 frets, but that's not uncommon. And it came with an allen wrench, truss rod instructions, and a replacement bridge bone so it was a breeze to fix. The craftsmanship on mine is superb - this would be a great first guitar or nylon addition for any player.

Second time's a charm!

By Tall Rascal

from Homer, NY

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA5 Classical Guitar:

I wanted a nylon-string guitar in my collection to replace an old cheapie that I broke, but I didn?t want to spend much money. The reviews on this guitar were impressive, so I went ahead and ordered one. The first model I received had major intonation problems on the B and E strings, and Musician?s Friend took it back without hesitation. The replacement is absolutely perfect so far as I can see. The intonation is fine, it stays in tune, and the tone is quite good for an entry-level classical ax. I?ve looked it over from top to bottom, trying to find a cosmetic flaw like the stray glue that some reviewers have referred to, but I can?t. The guitar is nice to look at and is a phenomenal value. The bottom line is that I?m extremely pleased with this instrument.

Surprised no one mentioned this...

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA5 Classical Guitar:

..It has a truss rod! I just received this guitar and already I am impressed by the fact it has a truss rod. The action out of the box lower than the fender and Alvarez classicals I have owned. The bridge can be filed and the neck can be adjusted for even more playability. The finish is good for this price range. For an entry range guitar or for something to haul back and forth to lessons, well worth the money!

Far better than expected

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA5 Classical Guitar:

Having sold my "real" hand-made classical with the fancy pedigree, I wanted a player that I wouldn't have to sell because it was worth too much. This little guitar is actually a lot more guitar than the price would suggest. The workmanship is top notch throughout and the finish is as good as the high dollar classical that I sold. My only complaints are typical of a plywood instrument... the volume produced is low and the tone is thin. Also, the frets are a bit on the high side and aren't as smooth as the high dollar instrument I was used to. But considering that this guitar doesn't need to have a sealed case and humidifier and that I won't panic when it takes an inevitable spill from the bed to the floor, this guitar is great!

Best bang for your buck

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA5 Classical Guitar:

This classical guitar is an amazing guitar, especially for how cheap it is. I wouldnt even called it cheap though, inexpensive rather. Pretty much everything about it I love except the fact that it doesnt have a screw to put a strap on.

Spring Brook Player.

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA5 Classical Guitar:

I'm an accomplished player and have been at it over 40 years. This is my third classical guitar. My solid spruce top Wilson and Son's needs extensive neck and top work so I thought I'd say "what the heck and try this cheapie. This Ibanez simply blew me away. I'm really fussy about my instruments and this one is a beauty. The only significant difference is the voice because it has a laminate top. {Laminate top won't sink]For 98% of players out there the voice difference is negligible anyway. This guitar is worth twice or more what it cost.

Very good for the price

By Stillarook

from La Puente, CA

Comments about Ibanez GA Series GA5 Classical Guitar:

My brother recommended this guitar to me (since I was in a budget) and Ibanez makes some decent guitars. The sounds are great, although the strings should be replaced as soon as possible, the gloss looks great, and you can make some really nice songs with this guitar. There was one problem when the gold plated knobs was worn off when I first tuned the guitar strings. Other than that, the guitar is great for its price and I recommend it to any guitarist.
