This is my first "real" guitar and I've owned it for about year now. The build quality is excellent and the sound is fantastic. I had originally ordered a PRS Paul Allender but because of backorder issues, I changed my order to the RG2250Z, and I'm glad I did. Nothing wrong with a PRS, I just think this guitar's a bit better. I have the black model and the finish is awesome. It would have been awesome if it was available in a flametop or at least some other colors, but I'm satisfied with how it is.What else can I say...great guitar decent price...If I had it to do over I'd buy it again.
I bought this awesome guitar last year, it's my favorite guitar. It has the best rock sound specifically for pulling out unique in your face rock, this guitar basically can play any type of music including heavy metal, hard rock, rock, blues, country; you name it, it can do anything and pull out professional sound you want. It will transform the way you hear or heard your songs being played, this guitar is a must have, get it while you can.
The RG2550E was an amazing Metal guitar, it was perfect, The DiMarzio IBZ truely made it the "Ultimate in Ultimate Metal Guitars". Now that they changed it and put the Edge Zero on it (Hence the Name RG2550Z) Eddy Van Halen would be Proud of this Guitar!
I just bought this Axe last week. Man this thing is awesome! I don't even want to change the pickups!! I also play an RTG320QRBB and since I got this guitar I cant put it down. it sounds smooth and creamy with the tone down half way, or screams harmonics easily when alot of gain is added. It plays beautifully and the j craft fret work will spoil you forever!! If you got the grand....GET THIS Guitar!!...I got the white one. Also a nice feature is that you can wire up another pickguard and just swap them whenever you want to tweak the sound from stock. I'm gonna experiment with different p-ups.
I own the 2550Z and this guitar is awesome. I received it in perfect condition without any flaws what so ever. It has an excellent tone and playability! The edge zero is perfect, with this setup it is easy to tune to drop anything without having to tune the other strings, as you would most other floating bridge setups! EXCELLENT GUITAR.
If the sword is the soul of the samurai warrior, then, this axe sums it all. I own several Fender Strats, Gibson LS, Schecter Hellraiser FR. But non came close as a shredd machine. When I pick up and played the RG Prestige I knew than that is one I've been looking for. Flat/slender/kneck for speed. Dimarzio pickup that gives me the sound I Like, it screams, wale, and ask for more abuse. This is a top-of-the-line, state of art guitar. The finish has that star/cyrstal if you look hard enough. The pick gaurd changes colors to black/metalic type. It pretty nice. But the best part about the RG Prestige are the functionality. I can make a list of everything I like about this guitar. But its better that you pick one up and experience the difference. I know you won't regret it. You'd spend $$$ for this type of quality, top-of-the-line, state of the art guitar and still won't be satisfied.
This guitar have very good pick-ups and floydrose.I think im gonna buy this, The rating is 9.83. thats cool :D
I love this guitar! The locking tremlo was a little hard to get used to but it has great action, and awsome pickups. Tone and sustain is also very good. This a great "bang for your buck." Overall this is a high quality professional grade guitar.
This one is really well made, I went reviewing several brands and I own a les paul standard, a fender 60 anniversary and some washburns. The tremolo unit is amazing much better than any original floyd rose stays in tune after haaard abuse. Very easy to set up and inteligently crafted. The neck is straight and impecable in every sense, frets well cut, excellent binding, speedy, nice wood and finish is flawless. I have the white one, at first I was not so sure about the color but in person it is beatiful and I am VERY picky about everything so you can be sure that it really is flawless. The pick ups are ok to me, very versatile but if you want something harder change em. I found it very nice, quiet and like a crossbread between strat sound and gibson humbuckers... you need a nice amp if you want screaming distortion though.. but it suits my style very good. I don't give totally 5 stars because may be a nice piezo's will be a blast with this axe...
This guitar was perfect right out of the box. The case is very well molded and solid as a rock. The pickups are pretty ok, but plan to put some Evos in em'. For some reason, the neck pickup appears to be the loudest, and let me tell you...these pickups are SUPER sensitive...they're like a poor-man's Evos in a way...This guitar, overall, is a great combination of Les Paul tone with a touch of that Fender single-coil in the middle...the coolest sounding distortion sounds come from the single-coil combined with either the neck or the bridge. Overall AMAZING guitar, wish they still made the one made out of Poplar.
pickups bridge and controls are fantastic. the shape and weight are seemingly custom designed to a perfect fit. the neck is extremely friendly and comfortable - smooth and flawless. i have a line 6 spider III amp, and it sounds magically delicious. this guitar shreds itself. effortless fingering pressure on the fretboard, fast and thin...don't buy this if your girlfriend requires attention, because this guitar is hard to put down.
I bought this guitar after playing many RGs and I could not be happier... The pickups sound fantastic and you can get a variety of tone with the 5-way selector switch. The edge-zero trem was awesome after i did a full setup-everything is adjustable. Takes abuse and stays in tune. The finish is pretty nice (galaxy black) and the pickguard has a purplish tinge to it that looks pretty cool. The case is really sweet too. For the price this is an awsome instrument. It could have better sustain but thats to be expected with a bolt-on neck and tremolo system. I can shred like crazy on this guitar or make it sing too. Oh ya!
What can I say that isn't obvious? The craftsmanship is stunning. I got the Galaxy White, I use white guitars. This is my main guitar. The pickups are pretty dang good, nice and crunchy but they have a soft side for jazz and blues. The Edge Zero is flawless, its better than any floyd I've used and I own a lot of guitars with origional floyds on them. The Basswood is really light but not too light, its also resonant and thats what I demand in the studio. I gave this insturment all fives because thats what it deserves!
I just got this and was anxious to play it..I wasn't disappointed at all...I had to tune it up and ,no problem getting it in tune and hammered it hard and a slight variation in tuning, very slight, neck is great, thin and very fast, pick ups are pretty damn good too. It isn't any wonder everyone I seen playing these guitars and shredding fast as hell! Now I can play faster too. Ilove this guitar..
Initially when I was looking for a guitar I was set on sticking with a fender/gibson. However, After trying out many guitars: fender strats, gibson and epi les pauls, schecters, I finally picked this one up and knew it was the one. The neck is so thin and flat and the finish is so smooth. You can play faster and with less effort instantly on this neck! I still have a really crappy amp so I haven't been able to evaluate the sound yet, but in the store on a 60W Vox amp it screamed! Definitely recommend this guitar to anyone especially those with smaller hands, this neck will fit perfectly and allow you easy access to all the frets.
First of all I would like to say some things about this guitar. Its very high quality, a top notch instrument, it sounds great for clean as well as dirty. The bridge is nice, and the neck is very comfortable, the inlays are nice, the case is amazing and the Gotahs are lovely machine heads. The volume knob is super smooth and gradual as well. You can't really get a much better guitar, especially for the cost. However my guitar arrived from musician's friend in horrible condition. It was missing the locking nut pressure pads. And there were scratches on the finish. Ibanez's QC would not let a guitar go out of the factory like this, which leads me to believe that musician's friend sold me a used and returned guitar for a new price. They really dropped the ball on this, I'm quite unhappy with them. I really hope they give me a rebate or something.
I just reently picked up this guitar, i've played many great guitars and finally came along this one, i played multiple jacksons [RR5, DK2, Dk1], Schecter Hellraiser, Blackjack axt7, Dean's etc. i was turned off by ibanez for a very long time because of the basswood bodies and the bolt on necks, but the bolt neck is just as comfortable as a set/ neckthrough guitar its thin and allows you to reach those higher frets [24x] with compete finger freedom. I've been playing guitar solidly for a good 4 years now and have owned a good portion of guitars. I play this puppy through a Peavey JSX head and a 300w avatar custom cab [celestion glt-75 speakers] with this cobmbination I can get any sound i could possible want. I play a huge variety of genres my core genres are neoclassical, speed metal, and trhash metal. This guitar gives the exact sound I was looking for, I wanted a cutting edge sound, on a heavey overdrive the clarity is as clear as daylight, its not great for your "hardcore bash your face in genres" but is absolutly perfect for lead, melodic music. I also play indie, and classic rock which this guitar also covers perfct the single coil has a nice bright clear sound and on clean has a glassy but far from brittle tone. moving on from the sound, the look of the guitar is nice the black witht eh sparkles are nice its not over exagerated but its a nice touch. I changed the stock pickguard to a pearl white looks a little better the maroon or w/e color one wasnt doin it for me. but yeah the basswood body has a great tone and the guitar has pretty good sustain, its no les paul but this guitar is ment to shred. I give it a 4.5 because there is no such thing as perfection, but this is excelelnt for the price. .
I took a huge gamble at buying this guitar, I had no idea what to expect besides what the specs said. Well this guitar is amazing. You can go from fast shredding, switch to single coil and clean, and you'll have the best sound. The thing that I find this guitar lacks is the feel isn't right for some rhythms, its hard to explain. Its also hard to pitch most bends since your taking the tremelo with your bends, overall: buy this guitar - you wont regret it
Have owned PRS, custom shop Fender, Gibson, and for the money one of the best guitars I have played on. Original pickups good, but will probably replace them. Tremelo is best on market and overall workmanship is great. This guitar outshines anything else in the price range and many above it...
I love this guitar.Best guitar I've ever own in a long time.I have Gibson LP,Fender Strat,Schecter Hellraiser FR.in my collections. But non of them came close,as far,as playability, functionality, versatality. The Ibanez RG Prestige can do it all.I took this guitar to my friends birthday party. And the guys who had their Fender Strats deluxe,Gretsch,Gibson LP,were a little jealouse of it.Because of the versatility of my Prestige, I was a combonation of Steve vai,EVH,SRV,ALL PUT IN ONE.I was living it.With my RG Prestige I made them look like time capsules in the bottle, all dress up but no where to go.I was shredding, dive bombing, sweeping, etc. So If you want to play just like our guitar heroes, this is the axe to get.Buy one soon, this is a nice guitar with blows and whistle, more bang for your bucks.
