Comments about Ibanez RG Series RG420PB Electric Guitar:

I have various toys.....Strats....Jackson.....but I gravitate to the RG's as they are versatile at a very reasonable price. I just make pick-up modifications with also push/pull pots to increase the sound diversity. This guitar is very attractive. I purchased the Charcoal Flat and it is fun to look at! It can get beat up and you don't cringe as you would a prized guitar.

Comments about Ibanez RG Series RG420PB Electric Guitar:

I've been playing guitar for 20 years and have owned a few Ibanez guitars from the prestige line, much more expensive guitars and this guitar holds up to my current rg3120 wonderfully without having to spend over a grand... Some people will say the pickups weren't so good on this but once I adjusted the height to where I like it they sound every bit as good as my more expensive pups. Most problems that people have with guitars now a days is caused by preference in setup, it is AMAZING what they can do for this price. If you want a great looking & great sounding guitar that's a great value this is it.

Comments about Ibanez RG Series RG420PB Electric Guitar:

I used to play RG series guitars back in the day and then stopped playing them around 1995. I got into other guitars and never played a RG again since that time. I started to get the itch for a RG again this past year, I wanted the flat wide Ibanez neck and the locking tremolo. I was looking for a good quality Ibanez at a decent price and I was not interested in the RG450DX, in general I'm not a fan of shark tooth inlays, they come across as hokey and dated looking to me. So step one was no shark tooth inlays on whatever I get. I wound up picking up a beautiful used RG370QMSP for a low price. I love that guitar so much that I went searching for another cheap Ibanez but I wanted a new one this time. I stumbled upon the RG420PB on MF. At first I wasn't sure what to make of it by looking at the photos so I bookmarked the page and sat on it for a few weeks. I went back here and there and to look at it and I finally decided I liked the look of it. I originally wanted the chocolate flat color but MF sold out of them by the time I was ready to order. So I bought the natural flat instead. It winds up that the guitar is beautiful in person. As somebody said in a below review, and I assume they bought the flat natural, the contrast with the dark brown back and sides with the light natural top is very attractive. I'm happy I didn't get the chocolate brown now.

As for the neck, it's awesome, all of the reasons I used to play RG series guitars back in the day came right back to me. I've been playing a Les Paul and a Strat for a while now and going back to a Wizard neck is a breath of fresh air.

Soundwise, I have to say the Infinity pickups sound good in this guitar. Like other people I find them to be a tad harsh and a bit cold sounding in other guitars. For some reason, they sound good in this guitar. It may be due to the Mahogany body and/or they updated the pickups.

The Edge Zero II is great.

For the price this guitar is a steal.

Comments about Ibanez RG Series RG420PB Electric Guitar:

Really love this guitar. One of the better buys I've made. I think the quality is on par with several higher priced guitars. Great action, good feel, nice neck are all fitting for this guitar. The only con, is the pickups... Im just not a fan, they are pretty muddy when driven hard. I've replaced with Seymour Duncan JB trembucker/Jazz combo which makes this guitar REALLY come alive!!! This combo really works with the mahogany body! I'm pretty sure it's the best set of pickups you can stuff in these things!

Comments about Ibanez RG Series RG420PB Electric Guitar:

This is a beautiful guitar. The pictures do not reveal the dark wood on the sides and back, which make a very nice contrast with the front. I was very impressed by this. This is the best Ibanez I've ever played, and I've been searching for a long time. The action is amazing on this guitar. I can bend a whole step effortlessly. Along with the comments from the other posts, I agree that the only downside are the stock pickups. Replace those and you have a solid guitar. Looks great, sounds great, play great.

Comments about Ibanez RG Series RG420PB Electric Guitar:

I have played many guitars in my life, but this guitar is a steal of a deal. I bought the flat charcoal brown and just love how you can see and feel the poplar burl wood on this. It's a little rough to the touch but not too much. Just the other day I was in a local guitar store noodling on a couple of Suhr guitars. This plays as good if not better for a heck of a lot cheaper. All I am going to do is upgrade the pickups (Seymour Duncan Nazgûl & Sentient set) and slap on some newer strings. The only unusual thing is it's hard to find any information on this RG420PB model. I have no idea why this guitar isn't listed on Ibanez's website.

Comments about Ibanez RG Series RG420PB Electric Guitar:

One of the best BANGS FOR YOUR BUCK I've seen lately. Well built, no noticable flaws and sounds great plugged it! Everything about this guitar (except for the finish) screams top of the line. Even the set up right out of the box was usable. After a few minutes of tweaking, perfect. Might be a bit intimidating for a novice, setting up the action, locking nut and trem system, but the book that comes with the guitar makes it a breeze (once you find the right system, they have so many!).
