This is a pretty great guitar. I am a pretty advanced player but I enjoy it even for as long as i've been playing. It is a great buy for beginners and intermediate. My honest opinion, I'll probably keep it but im getting the rg5ex1 to compliment my level of skill. Great buy though, thanks ibanez thanks musicians friend!
Overall this guitar would do just fine in any setting, at home/apt. or garage or live gigs it will not disappointt. Many say that this guitar is only good for shredding and doing metal but they are way off. It is good all around even for clean sounding effects and it definitely sounds good with distortion. Alot say that the pickups are no good, but these pickups are great, and there are better models with better pickups so there's alot of selection to choose from. All in all I only use this for jamming I'm mainly into acoustic for live music but I will probably keep this ibanez forever although i might get a better model eventually, but i highly recommend this guitar.
I really like the overall design of the ibanez, and I think the agathis body shape and cutaway really does the guitar justice. Really for me it's all about the slim neck of the guitar that makes chords and doing leads a cakewalk. I had been wanting this guitar for years and finally got it and it's definitely a solid guitar whether your a beginner or intermediate. I would say advanced too but I think a better model would suffice for that kind of level.
The ibanez sounds good through my fender frontier 25R (25watts) amp that i just bought from guitar center, although i had to take the treble all the way down and i added a hint of middle and bass and it sounds sweet. I didn't give this a 10 because it's pretty good, but compared to a gibson it probably wouldn't stand obviously.
the value is pretty good for what you get with this ibanez rg120. I've heard alot of reviews on this guitar and I have to say that alot of people are way off. People are expecting a professional advanced sounding guitar and thats kind of over the top to expect. I will tell you that you won't be disappointed with this ibanez, it delivers and sounds way better then other electrics I've owned in the past.
I just wanna say this to start off with, I AM NOT A LEFTY! i was inspired by the whole Hendrix righty-made-lefty thing... and i dont even listen to Hendrix... anyways, i got this guitar and restrung it like a right handed guitar and had a friend of mine give it a fret job and professionally set it up. i put in a type of Seymour-Duncan Humbucker that has this awesome coil split thing where you can get humbucking, P-90 and strat tones from the pup and i really like it... now the only thing i have left is to paint it and get a floyd rose installed. and a new nut. awesome guitar once fixed up.
I have been playing for about 5 years now, and I've always been limited to right handed guitars, so this is my first lefty.Obviously it's not no high class guitar, but the neck is very fast and the action is just were i like it. The hardware so far is okay, (plan on upgrading the tuners, pickups etc.)body seems pretty durable also. Overall it's a good affordable guitar that i would recommend to anyone looking for a good playing guitar on a budget! Plus it looks nice :)
This guitar absolutely screams ! Love the pickups and neck . Well worth full retail !
I played this beast. Let me tell you one thing: the picture on this site is crap, it makes the guitar look so much cheaper. Before I looked at the price tag, I could barely even tell. The neck is thinner than Jacksons, it plays nice and smooth, and superrrrrr fast. The pickups scream, and are pretty versatile. It didnt have the whammy bar on, but I wish it did; I would love to test that ;) This is hands down the best guitar for the price. I'd say it's at least worth the sale price.
I own this guitar, have for about 6 months. This guitar really is worth it's price. The bridge is really nice, the pickup tone goes great with distortion and high gain. The action is sick and smooth. This guitar screams for metal and is so warm for blues. I'll keep this guitar forever.
