I have the predecessor to the model you are viewing (the RG 570). I have owned this guitar for about 14 years and have only minor complaints. The guitar has withstood various forms of punishment from regular usage and continues to be my favored axe. The good: The guitar's low profile neck makes fretting much easier than using something like a Les Paul. With 24 frets you can shred through any song without any fret limitations. The standard Ibanez pickups go unchanged in my guitar as they have have met my criteria for sound quality. The Floyd Rose imitation tremolo is very usable and provides easy to use string tuning refinement. After 14 years of storage/usage the body has developed a hairline crack through the finish. However, playability and tonality go unmarred. The guitar allows any user to develop any type of tone they desire. However, making the guitar sound "fat" is more difficult to do because it has characteristics similar to a Fender strat. The bad: My particular guitar had a poor soldering job done at the factory. This was corrected and overall the guitar has remained my favored axe.Low factory action, light weight and great tone. What more can you ask for?

I had to return one just to get a playable guitar. For a guitar in this price range it really leave alot ot be desired. The action is very high due to improperly fitted locking nut, the pickups are very weak and need replacement right out of the box. The finish is brittle and easily chipped. All in all for a guitar of this price it is very disappointing.

Amazing

By DwellerofRhymes

Comments about Ibanez RG1570 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is simply awesome. The neck is thin and allows shredding and sweeping very easily. The tremolo is also great and can sustain tuning for quite some time. The finish is probably one of the best I've seen, changing colors from each angle (completely black, yellow, orange, red, green). For the people who might be worried about the pick-ups I assure you that the V8 (bridge humbucker)produces an overwhelming lead sound, personally I was so amazed with it, and the V7 and S1 are also good enough. Overall I would say it's probably one of the best guitars in that price level especially for soloing. For people who play power metal (like me) it's a must-buy-guitar, but it performs equally good in all other genres too.

Absolutely the best guitar for the price

By Big Daddy Nemesis

Comments about Ibanez RG1570 Electric Guitar:

I've owned every brand and every model of major guitar, and my 1570 is hands down the best playing instrument I have ever played. The pictures do the paint absolutely no justice. I took it in to get it restringed with some Markleys and everyone in Guitar Center huddled around like a celebrity was there. It's gorgeous, the radius is perfect for my medium-large hands, and the pickups (though not evo quality) have great clarity and sustain. It came in a very nice prestige case that says nothing less than classy. If you are wanting a great guitar for under a grand, you won't find a better looking, playing, or sounding instrument than this.

Fantastic Guitar

By Anonymous

Comments about Ibanez RG1570 Electric Guitar:

I own a Gibson Les Paul Standard, a Fender American Deluxe Fat Strat, a Peavey T-60, and the Ibanez RG1570. I saw Dave Uhrich play an Ibanez guitar years ago but didn?t know what model it was. I then discovered Joe Satriani so I decided to buy the RG1570 and replaced the pickups with DiMarzio PAF and FRED pickups. I did this to try and simulate the JS1200 for a lot less money. This guitar is a sleeper and one of the best-kept secrets in the world of guitars. The DiMarzio pickups work great in this guitar and it is the most versatile guitar I own. It will play clean channels with no distortion and even does a respectable job simulating an acoustic guitar with the right effects. It will play blues with the best of them and if you want screaming sustain that goes on for days this guitar does it with ease. From clean, to blues, to shedder extraordinaire, through Marshall or Fender amps, this amazing guitar is the axe to own. I?d never sell it and if it were ever stolen I?d buy another one in a heartbeat.

Comments about Ibanez RG1570 Electric Guitar:

I own a les paul and a fender strat and think this guitar defeats both. I get nice clean sounds with s1 and heavy tones with the HB's. This guitar, while doesn't have a fancy finish, is a great value considered the playablility, pickups, and trem system.Stays in tune with heavy bombs and the neck lets you glide across it with ease. Play one and see for yourself. Changing strings takes a little longer but after a while it gets easier. I love this guitar.

My favorite guitar for the last 9 years!

Comments about Ibanez RG1570 Electric Guitar:

The only reason this guitar doesn't get a 10 from me is the unknown factor - I am basing my review on the 2003 model, and have not played the latest and greatest. The pickups (in their prime) had distinctly unique tones and the bridge is still as sound today as it was 9 years ago. Any guitar will need adjustments over its life, and mine has only required minor ones at that. I would reccomend this guitar to anyone who played any style. My guitar shreds (as that's mainly what I do) but it also sings, cries, jives, and funks with the best of them.
I have the 7-string model that was released about 9 or 10 years ago (at half the price mind you ) I got it as a graduation present from my mother and it has received my tender loving care ever since. Even now all these years later, I have yet to replace ANYTHING on it. The Edge-Pro Trem is (after aquainting yourself with it) a very easy to use trem and quite easy to re-string. All the hardware is grade A and the tone and volume pots are smooth and easily manipulated.

Over the years the pick-ups have deteriorated a bit. The tone is a little dark and muddy after 9 years, but out of the box they were hot hot hot! I plan on replacing them with dimarzio liqui-fire and crunch-labs soon. (keep in mind this will be my first mod on this guitar after 9 years!) That being said, the different pickups actually produce distintly different tones. It has a 5-way switch that have entirely diferent voices. I will refer to them by numbers, with bridge position being 1, and full neck position being 5. 1 is striking and clear, suitable for everyday riffing and jamming. Leads cut through here. 2 is very jazzy sounding. the mix of the upper part of the bridge humbucker and the middle single coil is very tube-y. This is my favorite position to play in. Makes my guitar sound a little like a bass. 3 is all single coil. Take it or leave it. 2 has a nice balance of volume between the lower and upper strings and doesn't sacrifice tonality. 1 leaves lower strings sounding a bit muddy (maybe its just all the miles on my axe) but give my lead playing a very John Petrucci-esque sound. I reccomend this setting for your "comfortably numb moment"
Again, the quality is fantasic. My guitar out of the box was built for range and speed. The neck is sturdy and has only required minimal adjustments over the years (mainly when moving to more humid climates) The Edge-Pro trem system is sound and smooth. The springs need replaced on mine, but again - I have had it for a loooong time.
I can't make a judgement on the present value of the instrument as when I received it, it was a special order item from the factory that cost a fraction of todays price. But by today's standards I would still purchase this instrument for the current retail price. I suppose with the modern updates it will have inevitably received I would call this a good buy. If the past generation model is still holding up for me, then the present day model will surely hold up for you!

Bottom line up front...This guitar is awesome.

By Robert Schultz

from Crestview, FL

Comments about Ibanez RG1570 Electric Guitar:

This is an awesome guitar. Other than the pickups, you will not be disapointed. I searched, played, and researched all different types of guitars for 5 months in the $900 to $1100 price range and this one was the best. The only thing that came close to this guitar was an ESP LTD H-1000 7 string and a Jackson SLSMG Soloist. It's all about preference and if you play fast and like to shred, get this guitar. It's the best in its price range.
Ibanez has out done themselves. Don't worry about it, you won't be disapointed. This guitar is so nice, you'd think they would charge more for it. I've recently rediscovered my shredding roots and this reprodution of the 80's and 90's RG 570 is even better than the original. Everything about this guitar is great except the pickups. The factory V7, V8, and S7 are weak. I replaced them with some DiMarzio's (D Activator, Evolution and Injector), now this thing screams! I'm very satisfied with the performance, quality, and craftsmanship of this guitar.

Comments about Ibanez RG1570 Electric Guitar:

It is an amazing guitar for the price. I would easily buy that guitar for twice the amount. It has great features such as the edge pro trem, which is on the higher models. The woods are good for the price. The pickups are brilliant for clean and distorted sounds, warm sound with a great lead tone. Sometimes not quite enough power but I am upgrading them to evos, however the stock pickups are great!!! The neck and the playability is the best part of the guitar. The fastest guitar I have ever played on! Looks damn good and can do any style, it is amazing.

Not A Guitar To Buy

By zccarlitos

from El Paso, TX

Comments about Ibanez RG1570 Electric Guitar:

My first guitar was a Squier but of course you always want to improve your sound quality and everything. I bought this guitar because I thought it would be nice because of the tremolo bar and the tuning system and everything but it totally sucks. It takes you about 2 weeks to get it to stay in tune when getting new string. I preferred to use my squier instead of this guitar. If you touch the tremolo bar all the stings will go out of tune and it is supposed to have a technology that keeps that string in tune. Don't buy this guitar unless you want to have a damn hard time.
