I am a professional musician, with 20 years of clubbing, college(music minor), recording and teaching, under my belt. I think, as musicians, those of us who can't afford $3,000 guitars know a secret. The price of a guitar has very little to do with anything! I need a guitar that sets me apart, and matches my style and my persona. Look at the internet all day, but you'll never know what's for you until you pick it up and are stunned by an instrument!I am recording my own CD, and so many influences have made me, that it is truly somewhere between gnarly blues, electronica, southern rock, indie/shoegaze, and folk.I play through an American 59 Bassman tweed(90's) and a bit of overdrive, my Muff Pi, Boss Tremelo and Digi-verb. I also have a direct setup that utilizes my secret weapon pedal. The contrast is great, w/acoustic, a lot of synth/ MIDI, and bass to punch it up. My Fender Strat Deluxe is fantastic, but a bit limiting.I needed this guitar. It is an unreal but(mahogany body!) that I came across while working for a major Guitar retailer. It needs only a couple of EMG's or Duncans and it will be my mainstay(the Strat is too pretty, and I don't want to damage it live). I'll probably buy two of these.Great action, stays in tune, new p/u's are not a must, for all. Great guitar because it doesn't look like I play metal. I hate that stigma.

First of all, one has to realize that this is not a pro-quality guitar: it's not built by Team J-Craft, or whatever. This is the bottom of the line of Ibanez guitars.Secondly, all old Ibanez RGs other than the RG 500 series is EXTREMELY poor quality. While the 24 fret neck with the white binding offers higher notes to play on, the space between frets is bigger, and it is harder to make long jumps (unlike an Ibanez S series guitar). The neck is set up poorly, and it offers very little sustain. The stock pickups are extremely weak, and there is almost no difference in the sound when adjusting the tone pot.My advice: Save up 500 more dollars, and buy either a RG 500 series guitar, or buy something similar to a Jackson DKMG guitar.

Comments about Ibanez RG321 Electric Guitar:

I bought one of these used from a local music store for [$]and I think I got a great deal. it plays very well, and the oil finish looks amazing. there are a few issues with mine, but thats probably due to abuse it sustained under its previous owner. I would advise replacing the pickups when you get the chance, as they leave a little to be desired.

          Good for SOUKOUS

Comments about Ibanez RG321 Electric Guitar:

I've just bought this guitar specifically because it has 24 frets and is exceptionally good value. I know that this model is popular with death metal guitarists for shredding etc., if YOUTUBE is anything to go by, but I would also suggest that this is a good choice of guitar for someone who wants to play SOUKOUS style lead guitar on a budget. Some soukous lead solos require 24 frets, a guitar that allows very quick finger movement and the ability to access the top end with little effort. This guitar enables all that. I have it plugged into a Behringer Vintage delay pedal, and this gives an authentically rich soukous guitar sound. Both are great value products.

          Great beginner guitar!

Comments about Ibanez RG321 Electric Guitar:

I owned this guitar a few years ago, it had a really well build quality to it. Great neck! The pick ups were the only problem I had with it, but they worked and still sounded really good. I would just of rather put Seymour Duncan pick ups in it. More of a personal preference than a flaw. But overall a great guitar! I had to trade it into my local guitar shop to help pay for my PA system. I really wish I still had it.

          best value guitar ever

Comments about Ibanez RG321 Electric Guitar:

i got this black(wish id gotten Moil) and it is solid. the neck is slippery fast and skinny, and the even though it is a bolt on, it sustains for days. perfect weight distribution, tuners stay in tune, but are a bit of a pain to use. Pups are ok for a cheap guitar, but they dont sound like good pickups, change them. Also the pickup switch is HORRIBLE, touch it and the whole guitar vibrates aggresively. But the feel of the guitar is unbelievably great. this is one of those guitars where you get more than what you pay for, put in about $150, and you got a studio quality guitar.

I bought this guitar in '08 and am still trashing it everyday. The action is perfect and the neck is fast. i play in drop b and it handles it extremely well. quality hardware but you might want to swap the pickups. I put seymour duncan invaders and it sounds great. Awesome guitar.

          Great Guitar For The Price

Comments about Ibanez RG321 Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for five years and still going. I dont plan on getting rid of it anytime soon for these reasons:the quality sound this guitar gives is unbelievable for the price. I love the wood finish as well as the fixed bridge. i use it all the time in my active band that im in, and it goes great with metal. if youre buying this, youre making an excellent choice.

          Good guitar for low budget

Comments about Ibanez RG321 Electric Guitar:

May I preface my review by saying I have owned many quality guitars and have played for 40+ years. This guitar is built solid and plays well. Adjustments are always needed, I had to adjust the truss rod and bridge to my liking but still sounded good out of the box. Really nice simple finish and the pickups are bright yet you may want to replace the electronics down the road,ie. selector switch is shaky and the pots are a little non responsive....but if you are looking for a good playing guitar and can't pay more bucks? Pretty good deal.

Comments about Ibanez RG321 Electric Guitar:

Just bought a pristine '07 Epi Les Paul Studio Ltd. My dream guitar since I saw Ace Frehley play one in '74. Fantastic tone and sustain and down right sexy. HOWEVER, this Ibanez RG321MHMOL is SO much guitar for the money. It's a tank. I've raised and lowered the action and pups, changed the neck relief both ways, dropped it from 4 ft, de-tuned it and it won't say uncle. If you break the neck you can replace it(bolt-on). Yes, the bare oiled wood does lightly scratch with pick or nail, but if someone get that close to it, the guitar makes a great noggin hammer. Mahogany body and maple neck. Pups are just fine and it is worth twice it's price.

          Still playing it....

Comments about Ibanez RG321 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar 5 years ago. I still jam everyday on it. This is the best guitar I have ever purchased, and comes very VERY close to my old RG570. Olde English furniture polish "pretty's" it right up. The finish is great because I'm not real concerned about scratching it. No paint to panic over, big plus. My 3rd finger on my picking hand has wore a dent into the wood, no kidding. Now the instrument is truely mine, has character. One thing though....the neck is real moody. Changes tune on me just slightly every few days. I know because when I go to jam with my Rush CD's, its slightly out. But still, no complaints. I love this guitar. Anything Ibanez is building these days on the on the lower price scale, in my mind is equivalent to what they built and marketed as "high end" 10-15-20 years ago.

Comments about Ibanez RG321 Electric Guitar:

I bought the 321 about four years ago, and I still shred it almost everyday. The only downfalls are that the finish wears off when you play hard and sweat all over it. The neck on mine has a couple of rotten spots where it just looks kinda bad. But I love it all the same. I reccomend this guitar to anyone who plays metal and is going to be out shreddin and beating it up. It has withstood lots of beatings from me.
