An sharp-looking and value-packed guitar that celebrates the RG design in a dual humbucker configuration.

The RG was developed in the 80s as the Roadstar (RG stands for Roadstar Guitar) and it soon earned a reputation as a pedal-to-the-metal shred machine. Although there are RG players in a range of genres, the metal guitarist continues to be the die-hard RG player. The RG3XXV 25th Anniversary Electric Guitar sports a "best of" collection of features favored by RG fans, including a wizard III neck, dual DiMarzio humbuckers and locking tremolo bridge. This RG also benefits from a bold color treatment with its bright finish and color-matched inlays.

Comments about Ibanez RG3XXV 25th Anniversary Electric Guitar:

I bought this when it went on a deeply-discounted sale. It arrived very well packed, as always with MF. The guitar action, pickup height, truss rod and floating ZPS trem were well set up from the factory. The strings, however were not fully stretched. This is the norm on a factory set up, double-locking trem in my experience.
After a thorough string stretching, I locked down the nut (not a euphamism) and it was set to rock.
It has the thin, stable and wide Wizard neck we all love and expect from Ibanez. The ceramic-magnet pickups are great for high gain, sacrificing some warmth for hotter output but then again that is why I bought this guitar. It isn't meant to be a sensitive guitar to sing the blues through a vintage amp. This baby is built for speed. The ZPS is great for a little more stability for palm muting and double-stop bends while still allowing nearly all the usual tricks of a full-floating, double-locking trem. For me, the ZPS is a great feature. When I tuned it down half a step, being able to adjust the trem's spring tension with a thumbwheel made the process much easier. As with any double-locker, setup time investement is the key to a healthy, long-term relationship.
The neck is classic Ibanez. Flat, wide-feeling across the fretboard and thin. My biggest complaint about this guitar were the fret ends. They were very poorly finished. Jagged and ragged, I really wonder if these fret ends got filed down much at all at the factory. It was quite bad. I had to spend a couple hours with a fret-finishing file to make them right. Again, well worth the effort, but not something I should have had to do.
Second complaint on this guitar is the wood. The guitar has poor sustain, low "warmth" and just feels low quality in hand due to the wood. I realize a full-floating double-locker, ceramic-pickup, thin neck guitar will never sing like a set neck, fixed bridge axe but even for this type of guitar my experience tells me they saved some money on wood. As expected at this price point.
Last complaint is minor. The volume pot was horrifically scratchy upon arrival. It's nothing a few shots of pot cleaner/lube from the control cavity and hundreds of spins of the knob over a few days didn't take care of, but like the fret ends this is something I should'nt have to do on a brand new guitar.
Overall, these things weren't a big enough deal for me to return the guitar. She's a keeper, especially at the price I paid. I wasn't expecting Premium or Prestige quality levels, and I didn't get that quality level. But I also paid many times less that those guitars cost. By my math, this RG rocks 75% of a Prestige-level RG's performance at 20% of the price. That is a good deal.

Comments about Ibanez RG3XXV 25th Anniversary Electric Guitar:

The DiMarzio pickups, especially the D Activator in the bridge position are hot! I rate them right up there with the Screamin' Demon and Full Shred pickups. The only disappointment was that the 25th anniversary logo is no longer on the backplate for some to date unexplained reason.

Comments about Ibanez RG3XXV 25th Anniversary Electric Guitar:

I picked this bad boy up because I did not have a really solid hard rock style guitar with a Tremolo. I had this baby setup once I got it and its AMAZING. Tone is great, feels great, easy to play and great looking to boot. Really stand out in the pics that were taken of me playing it on stage. The extra price is for the pickups but they rock!!!

Comments about Ibanez RG3XXV 25th Anniversary Electric Guitar:

I have been playing for over 30 years now and had two RG series guitars when they were first introduced in the 80's. When I saw this anniversary edition in blue, I had to get one. No regrets! The raw wood feel of the neck is fantastic and the overall quality of the guitar is nearly as good as the J-Custom series that I bought 10 years ago and still own. The neck pickup is a little weak but has great tone.

This guitar is proof that nobody needs to spend thousands on a guitar to get quality. I personally don't really care that they are not made in the USA. It would be nice if they were, but I also own two Epiphone Les Paul's that play and sound just as well as the Gibsons that are USA made. I have played them all. The USA made ones are not worth 4-5 times the price. It's ridiculous. If they want people to buy American, then they need to get realistic with the pricing.

Anyway, great buy on this guitar, especially for the price. You cannot go wrong.

Comments about Ibanez RG3XXV 25th Anniversary Electric Guitar:

I took a chance on this even though it is not american made because it has the pick-up configuration I prefer (humbucker bridge and single neck) which is hard to find...I was impressed by the quality, feel and sound of this guitar!! The neck is perfect for shredding and sweeping. The Dimarzio's sound killer and the bridge has the fine tuners out of the way...unlike the floyd rose!! The only downside to this is that it's not made in the USA...which would explain the small price tag. But it has that high end quality to it. So if you're looking for a high quality guitar at a fair price...look no further than this one right here!!

Comments about Ibanez RG3XXV 25th Anniversary Electric Guitar:

I am a pro musician. I have 1000's of hours of studio time. I have been a studio session player. I have played in front of 10,000's of people. I would mention my name, but I have no endorsement from Ibanez. But regardless of all this Im telling you my exp. so you will know im not a newbee on guitar. Now the Ibanez RG3XXV has it's own feel. This guitar is set aside from the rest, there is something about the tone of this guitar. It sounds different than any other Ibanez out there including the JEM. I kinda think of this guitar tonability is a cross between Eddie Van Halen meets A7 Fold at Steve Via Birthday party. It has a solid feel, the neck has a very very fast neck on it. I have used this guitar on the road and in the studio. Like I said the tone is what sets this guitar apart from other Ibanez's. So sure there are after market upgrades you can get. But I think the componits in this guitar is a contributing factor in its tonality. So I wouldnt change a thing. I bought it and Im keeping it! I would advise you to get this guitar. This guitar is easy to play, looks great, tone is outstanding at a low volume and high volume. Buy it! You wont be sorry! Oh this guitar records very well!!
