OVERVIEW

Deep tones await with this affordable shredder's delight.

The RG is the most recognizable and distinctive guitar in the Ibanez line. Three decades of metal have forged this high-performance machine, honing it for both speed and strength. This RG7420 model has a basswood body and a Wizard II-7 neck shape that offers maximum comfort and speed. Its fingerboard is rosewood with 24 jumbo frets for bigger note bends and it also comes with dual Ibanez AH-7 pickups that are wired to a 3-way switch with Master Volume and Tone. An Edge-Zero tremolo bridge and black hardware complete the list of hard-rockin' appointments.

Wizard II-7 Maple/Walnut neck
Ibanez's thin, flat, and fast, yet strong and sturdy, Wizard neck offers unlimited playability for demanding players, and features a two-octave 24-fret fretboard for wide tonal range.

Edge-Zero II Tremolo
Lower profile designed tremolo for playing comfort, and stud lock function for stable tuning.

Case sold separately.

Comments about Ibanez RG7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

I bought this model in white and I have to say that it looks gorgeous and plays effortlessly. I'm a huge fan of the Ibanez Wizard necks. The frets are nice and big and finished well with no sharp edges or fret buzz anywhere on the neck. The contoured heel and large cutaways give easy access all the way up to the 24th fret. The Edge-Zero II tremolo works great and the overall weight of the guitar is pretty comfortable . My only complaint, is that the stock pickups seem a little weak for my taste. Easy upgrade though, and to be completely honest, I was planning to replace the pickups with some Seymour Duncans anyway, so no big deal.

This is my first 7 string, and after 22 years of playing, I've found the transition to be pretty easy actually. I love the extended range on the low end, and my hands seem to have adapted to it instinctively as if they've been looking for that extra sting all along. For the money, this guitar is fantastic and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. If you've been looking for a 7 string that won't break the bank, this guitar is a solid bet!

Comments about Ibanez RG7420 7-String Electric Guitar:

This guitar is fun to play and looks good too (I got the white) but...if you want to upgrade your pickups like I did to a EMG 81-7 it's going to cost you. There is no pickup ring that fit's, had to build one. And had to route it. Didn't know this going into it. Overall a good guitar though.
