The power, sustain and archtop beauty of the RGA, in a new affordable model.

The Ibanez RGA42FM electric guitar features an archtop mahogany body for tonal warmth and robust sustain. It's topped with a beautiful flamed maple veneer and sports black chrome hardware. A 3-piece maple neck has the Ibanez Wizard II profile for fast and effortless shredding. The Ibanez guitar is equipped with fat and strong active Ibanez LoZ3 humbucker pickups and uses an Active EQ circuit with simple-to-operate on-off switch to provide pure tone free of noise. These active pickups have a high-output fat sound, yet are tweaked to produce a balanced clean sound. The Gibraltar Standard fixed bridge offers smooth playing comfort and maximum vibration transfer with increased stability and sustain.

For two decades, the legion of Ibanez RG warriors has grown like a virus, thrusting the RG guitar to the head of the metal pack. The Ibanez RG's fast, flat necks, rabid pickups, and double-locking tremolos deliver demonically charged sounds that go far beyond the world of mere mortals.

    Not all too satisfied.

Comments about Ibanez RGA42FM Electric Guitar:

This guitar sounds amazing! It really does! However, when I bought it was looking for an inexpensive guitar that wasn't cheaply made and would hold together. The small black piece on the end of the pickup switch is constantly falling off and the volume knob is continuously cutting out when I turn it. The frets are also way longer than I would prefer them to be. My fingers are still adjusting to having to stretch further because of the jumbo frets and it causes them to cramp up in the middle of a song. However, it still sounds beautifully. Both pickups are great. And the little switch thing on it, i forget what exactly it does, but whatever it is, it is awesome!
If you're looking for a good value in expensive guitar, don't get this. If you're looking for an affordable mediocre guitar, then go for it.

    WOW!!!!!!!

Comments about Ibanez RGA42FM Electric Guitar:

This is an AMAZING guitar. I got it to replace my Gibson SG and I actually prefer it over my SG. The Pickups can do literally anything. It can be the cleanest sound and then with the press of a button it can go to a thick nasty distortion and sound great. A perfect guitar for Thrash Metal and Hard Rock. It sounds best tuned down to Eb. The only problem mine has is the G string doesn't like to stay in tune. Over all I am very proud and happy to own this guitar.

Comments about Ibanez RGA42FM Electric Guitar:

I recently played this guitar at the local music store and I love it. I have an XP300 Xiphos and I dont like the Edge III on it, the edge was nice at first but is now annoying and I want to sell it. If I ever do sell my Xiphos I would definetly buy this guitar. The sound is really amazing and I love the neck. This guitar sustains notes really well. I hope I can buy this some day.

When I found The IBANEZ RGA42FM-TGB I knew I had the right guitar for me.The WIZARD II neck is just great, fully bound your hand flies. The bodyis beautiful and it's not real heavy, but sustains the sounds well. With the Active electronics there isn't any sound or style music you can't play. The black chrome Hwd. looks great also. For all you get at a price that can't be beat IBANEZ really hit the Mark!!!

    AWESOME!!!

    Amazing!
WOW! that's all I can say. I was originally playing on a Fender strat. But it just wasn't heavy enough for my band and me. This guitar is truly amazing. Love the dual humbuckers. It's just truly amazing. And the quality of the guitar, there is just no comparison. And for the price? Can't beat that! Love the red tiger stripes. I'm running a Digitech RP50 effect pedal and they act is if they are made for each other. wow. just the sound is incredible. Perfect hard rock, alternative sound. Even heavy metal is amazing. You have to buy this guitar!!
    Perfect!
Can't beat this price for the quality!!

    Ibanez and I, Together Again!

    Ask me a question

Comments about Ibanez RGA42FM Electric Guitar:

Many years ago, an Ibanez was my favorite guitar. One thing led to another and I sold it. Now I have a Strat and a Les Paul, but something was missing. I bought this guitar and I feel like I've come home again! The wizard II neck feels terrific and I genuinely think I play better on this guitar than the others. The tone is sweet - I'd worried about the stock pickups, but they're really great! The blue sunburst finish is dazzling, the tuners do their job admirably and the guitar stays in tune - I just can't find anything wrong with this axe. But to really sum it up into a universal truth - this guitar is fun to play!If something happened to this guitar, I would replace it for sure. So far, after a few weeks, everything is still perfect. It appears to be a truly rugged instrument. My advice is, to buy it. This guitar doesn't have any frills and it doesn't need any, and like I said, it is really fun to play!

    Awesome Guitar!

    By MrN

Comments about Ibanez RGA42FM Electric Guitar:

I have been a player and teacher for over 30 years now, and have owned several Strats and Les Pauls. I was looking for a quality instrument at a budget price for gigging, practicing, and lessons, one with a great deal of versatility. Since I teach in a music store, I really took my time playing a lot of guitars. The Ibanez RGA42FM fills the bill, and more. This instrument straddles both Les Paul and Strat ends of the spectrum remarkably well. The guitar is solidly built, with great sustain and clarity when played acoustically. Plugged in, it delivers excellent clean tones--not just "good enough until it's time to step on the distortion," but real chime and sparkle. The distorted tones are fat and punchy with sustain and tone for days.At this price point, it's an unbelievable bargain, but this guitar isn't just "good for the price"--it's an outstanding instrument period.

Comments about Ibanez RGA42FM Electric Guitar:

I don't own it, but played it at GC. I cannot believe what one can buy for this little money. This guitar felt great, the action was nice and low, the strings almost had a soft quality on the neck, just superb. If you're into fast playing, this guitar is a bargain.

Comments about Ibanez RGA42FM Electric Guitar:

I am a beginner, but I didnt want to be buying a beginner guitar now and a better one in like a year, so i just bought this one now. My teacher said he really liked it and he plays gibson les pauls all the time!! I love it. It has a fatter neck, which i like, really nice finish, and decent pickups and tuners. The only thing is there is no tone knob and the intonation and the action were a bit screwed up when i got it.

    Amazing guitar.

Comments about Ibanez RGA42FM Electric Guitar:

This guitar screams! The pickups could be better, but for the price who could complain. The only offset is that there is no tone knob, just an equalizer switch which i dont know what it does. so if you are looking for a cheaper fixed bridged ibanez get this guitar.
