Comments about Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar:
I picked up a new S420 nearly a year ago and have found it to be an incredibly versatile guitar. I've been playing for 20 years and am manily recording in a home studio these days. I love the variety of clean tones this guitar provides...from smooth and jazzy to funky and quacky. Another thing I really like is the body shape/thickness/contour...the guitar just disappears when you put it on...it almost becomes part of you which makes it super comfortable and easy to play. As with all Ibanez guitars that I've owned and played, the playability and craftsmanship is incredible, especially for the price. I play everything on my S420; blues, jazz, funk, rock, metal, etc., and it works pretty well for all of it. I really like the tremolo system and the neck is also perfect for my tastes. Mine is the red sunburst color and the pictures you see don't do it justice; it's beautiful in person. My only complaints would be that the bridge pickup is a little too hot to get a cood clean tone out of but that's not a real big deal...this is sold as a rock/metal guitar afterall, and the tremolo action is a little stiff for my preference even with the setting all the way soft but that is also not a big deal and I'm used to it now. I own 10 other guitars beside this one and lately this is the only one I want to play if that gives you any indication of how much I like mine.

Comments about Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar:
A fine, fine instrument. And for 500 bucks you cannot go wrong. One of the best vibrato system I have ever played period. Unreal how it stays in tune and I use it a lot for various subtleties as well as more in your face stuff. This axe has a very wide range of possible playing applications for all kinds of styles.Great for an eclectic colorist who uses a wide variey of tones and effects in their playing. I don't know how this would be as a straight metal guitar, but it may work fine there too. Needed minor tweaking with the frets, action, and vibrato but any set up guy can do that fairly cheap. I have the Blackberry Sunburst and it is STUNNING. Lightweight, plays like butter. Might want to switch out pick ups but the stock ones are fine too. Can't say enough about how pleased I am with this axe. I string this with the Ernie Ball Cobalt strings, that I also think the world of, and it plays like a dream. You want this!

Comments about Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar:
Without a doubt one of the best guitars I've ever played. It's light and has one of the fastest necks. When setup properly this thing holds a tune like no other. I dowtune a good bit and this holds it like a charm. The stock pickups aren't bad, but certainly would bring out more of the guitar if upgraded. I can't recommend the S Series enough.
Comments about Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar:
The customer service was excellent with the purchase of my guitar (my purchase was over the phone.) The delivery was also speedy and recieved within the promised time.My purchase was an Ibanez S420 with the new ZR Tremelo, something new that I had been wanting to try. I am a committed Ibanez fan to start with and had shopped around for the best price (I knew what I was going buy before hand) and Musicians Friend beat the competition by as much as 85.00 dollars. I feel the quality of the product met all of my expectations including the price. The guitar plays, sounds, and feels great and I would recommend Musicians Friend to anyone shopping for instruments, sound equipment, etc. My next purchase and all my guitars will be with you.
Comments about Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar:
This is my 3rd Ibanez guitar. The Blackberry finish is amazing. Wasn't a fan of the flat black. I had to go through and tighten the locking nut and adjust the springs for the Trem, but after that I havent had a single issue. Pickups are ok at best, not a lot of output, pretty flat EQ response. The Bridge is amazing, the ZP2 system can be removed in under 30 seconds. It does stiffen the bridge. Wonderful trem unit, allow it to break in though and it gets better. The Mahogany body is very pleasant sounding, deep thick chords good high end, good mids and great lows. The neck is amazing. Flat, thin, and fast. I up sized my strings to 9-48's and had no issues with the bridge at all, no intonation issues or height, nothing. An amazing guitar for the money. Which is why I keep coming back to Ibanez. Another Happy customer.
Comments about Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar:
I bought this guitar about 2 or 3 months ago after playing it twice at a local store. So needless to say it's a great instrument especially for the bang for the buck. The craftsmanship is great. It's honestly the next best thing if you cannot afford a Prestiege. The IBZ pickups are not that band sounding at all honestly and could hold you over until you got replacements. The S Series are always great and reliable. The ZR bridge is amazing. I strongly reccommend buying this guitar, you wont be dissapointed.
Comments about Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar:
This guitar is KILLER.I played one of these in blackberry, for about 5 minutes, and I was sold.I've wanted an S5470 for 2 years now,but thanks to Ibanezs constant price jumps, thats out of the question for a while, but don't think this is a cheap substitute, this beast blew me away, between the crazy comfy neck (thin,FLAT radius, huge (24 :D)frets),amazing thin body (the whole guitar weighs like 6 pounds) that resonates so well, beautiful finish, absolutely genius tremolo (and I'm a solid bridge kinda guy),and unbelievable pickups,I'm a die hard DiMarzio player,so they'll eventually get popped out,but honesty, unlike most cheaper guitars, its not even necessary.Clean, both pickups are articulate and smooth, but with LOTS of distortion, they're still super defined, and the bridge nails harmonics ALL DAY.I would recommend this guitar to almost everyone. Its an unbeatable deal, and one of the best guitars I have ever played.
Comments about Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar:
I ordered this guitar a week before christmas as a little present to myself. I always have played Ibanez, so i did my homework just to make sure i wouldn't sell this one right after i bought it like i did my old RG. I got the blackberry sunburst and let me tell you, the picture on the site does no justice to the finish on this guitar. The Wizard II neck is fast and very comfortable to play, especially since i have smaller hands. Stock pick-ups are ok, but i will eventually put some DiMarzio's in this baby. The ZR tremolo is simply amazing. It blows a Floyd Rose out of any category. The body is super thin which makes the guitar super light and great for the stage. Get this guitar. I promise you will not have any regrets!
Comments about Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar:
My local guitar shop is an ibanez dealer so I've played an unthinkable amount of ibanez's. I walked in and saw this thing sitting on a stand and the sunburst finish caught my eye instantly. The craftsmanship is amazing. I picked the guitar up and plugged it in. I instantly was in love right from the first riff I played. For the stock pickups. They are not bad at all. However I'm a dedicated duncan player so I'll probably switch em out. I love the trem system. Literally AMAZING. The neck is very very smooth. Yes I did make the purchase on this guitar. You absolutely cannot beat how awesome this guitar is. 500 dollars?!?! BUY THIS GUITAR NOW!
Comments about Ibanez S420 Electric Guitar:
I had an older S series with the first-gen ZR Trem and loved it. Wanted to update and this guitar was perfect. Pickup switching gives lots of options and the burst finish is cool looking. What can I say about the ZR Trem? Best update of the floating trem since Floyd Rose came up with his iconic design. And this guitar doens't leave me with a sore back after a show - you want this guitar, you need this guitar...
