Got mine yesterday and ran it through the paces. I'm a worship leader and I've been dreaming about having a hybrid guitar like a Taylor T5 for years, but, since I'm a worship leader, cost has always been a barrier, even for the most affordable alternatives (I looked into the Godin A6 Ultra and the Epiphone 339 Ultra II). Something I always wanted was a single guitar that I could leave in my office that would work just as well in a small group sing-along as on stage as an acoustic-electric or overdriven with effects.

This is that guitar! It isn't the loudest acoustically, but it's enough to be heard by everyone in a medium-sized room. Even plugged into an electric guiar amp, it sounds like a warm, full-bodied acoustic (I love magnetic pickups for acoustic amplification - piezos can get so "quacky"). Piezo pickups sound HORRIBLE through electric amps, but somehow, this little gem did the job. Overdriven, it sounded like a warm hollowbody with the neck pickup on. It definitely isn't cut out for metal, but then again, neither am I.

I wish the finish didn't scream "I'm laminate!" quite so loudly, but that's just a guitarist's insider pet peeve. It's comfortable to play, and you can use the same guitar to play the acoustic intro as you do for the lead elecric solo before the bridge. Wow!

This guitar is well worth the price
This is my third thin body guitar ,the first was a stratocustic and the second was a cheep china S G style . The talaman is by far the best of the three .has the sound of a full body ! That I was not expecting , quality is excellent sounds good amped too .this is my first ibanez but will not be my last! Has a lot more bottom end sound than the stratocoustic ! I also checked out the ovation thin line guitars at the local music shop they don't even come close to the sound of the talaman,and are way over priced!

If something happened to this guitar I would buy one the next day. It's just a fun guitar to play that sounds great. I'm not a professional but every electric guitar I own is American. I also have a guitar business.
Do you work on your guitars. Imagine having a Strat like pickup not located underneath the bridge and adjusts up and down with two set crews on each side. No more cheap piezo pickups. You can sand and then use a straight file to lower the saddle and it never affects the sound. Install a bone nut and you have the lowest action possible and the easist acoustic guitar you ever played without ever losing any of the volume or tone coming from the pickup. The guitar is smaller and sits in your lap like an electric. Plugged into a nice tube amp the sound is as good if not better than any guitar I've heard having a cheap piezo pickup located underneath the bridge. Here's another nice thing about this guitar. On every acoustic guitar the strings are sitting so high at the bottom of the neck that it makes the guitar unplayable. If you tried lowering the saddle on a piezo acoustic whoops where did the volume go. You can lower the action till the cows come home and guess what the volume on the guitar still stays the same.
It's not a big guitar and your not going to get the projection like you would on a $3,000 dollar Dreadnought but your arm isn't going to fall off either. This guitar was meant to be played plugged in and if your not a cheapskate your heels will be kicking for joy after hearing the types of sound this guitar can produce. I play this Ibanez acoustic through an Egnater Tweaker head which was just voted the best tube amp over every other tube amp tested for 15 watts and under. It's one of the best tube amps I've owned and I play it 99% of the time with a Fender Deluxe Reverb and a Vox AC30 sitting in the corners. That Egnater is hooked up to a couple of 1X12's with Celestion Greenbacks in them. One other nice thing about this guitar is I always put better tuners on my guitars. On this guitar I have never had any second thoughts about changing out the tuners.
I've tried several different string guages on this guitar the ones that work oth the best are 11-52. Getting back to the $3,000 dollar Dreadnought sound this guitar is very acceptable playing it unplugged

This is an incredible guitar. It immediately became my favorite and I find myself daydreaming about it when I'm not there.The look is simply gorgeous. Nobody will believe what you paid for this guitar. I especially like the faux pick guard. (Hint: if you need a big sheet of plastic screwed down to prevent your pick from gouging your ax, you're doing it wrong!) The ash top is beautiful, and the styling is very cool. The scale of the body makes it easy to hold and play, the action is superb, and the sustain is very good.The construction is very good as well - typical for the manufacturer. I bought mine "off the rack" so was able to inspect it for fit-n-finish and intonation before purchase. There is a tiny flaw in the finish on the lip of the sound hole, but this instrument is otherwise perfect. Once I held it in my hands, I could not put it down.The playability is awesome. Very easy action, great for those (like me) who switch between acoustic and electric frequently. It is relatively quiet when unplugged, which is a bonus if you practice where you may bother other people. The tone is certainly different than you'll get from a large-body acoustic, but in a good twangy/snarly way that suits my ear. (Johnny Cash: yes, James Taylor: maybe not.)Plugged into my Blues Jr, this thing is a beast. Its unique tonal character goes to a whole new place when you amp it up. This thing works for blues/rock/grunge styles that require transition from acoustic to electric tones or major dynamic shifts mid-song.This guitar is a perfect example of why I own so many Ibanez guitars. With this quality and feature set, there is absolutely no reason to spend more money unless you have an endorsement deal with another company.Get this before one of your friends does. My bandmates are jealous!

I got this guitar as my first acoustic after playing electric for several years. I was attracted to it by the descriptions saying it was an acoustic built for electric players. It certainly feels more like an electric than other acoustics I've played. The downside is that since I've started doing more recording and playing live, I've regretted getting this guitar. Unplugged, the sound isn't terrible, fairly mellow and warm, but incredibly weak. The body is much smaller than normal acoustics, so that's to be expected. Plugged in, wow. The sound is 100% HORRIBLE. No matter what strings I've used and what EQs I've tried to use, I can't seem to get away from the awful tinny sound of the guitar. Even with the bass cranked all the way, the high end is way too present. It doesn't sound like any acoustic you've ever heard plugged in. I can't really describe what it sounds like, other than absolute crap. I've only owned this guitar for a little less than a year, and I'm already looking for a replacement. Don't make the same mistake I did.

The only way this guitar could get better is if it could feed and cloth you. This by far the best guitar I've ever played I never have to tune it even after traveling with it It still stays in tune if you are wanting a new guitar this is the one for you.

I bought this guitar used, a few days ago. I'd been looking for a decent thin body guitar for cheap. This guitar blew away my expectations. The finish on it was beautiful, and the styling is unique. The tone on it is what really surprised me. Unplugged, it has a very mellow tone, typical of a thin-body. Not the best one I've heard, but still very good. But plugged in, I was amazed. I never thought that it would sound that good. Smooth, mellow tones, great for jazz or blues. The neck is very playable, fits great. Overall, if you're looking for a great guitar, for a great price, you simply cannot beat the Talman TCM50.

I was looking for a guitar that would be a second to my other Ibanez Acoustic. I am really digging this Talman. I love everything about it. The sound, the quality, and most of all the price. You can't beat it.

I bought this guitar with high expectations. It looked so good. Indeed, when I received this Ibanez Talman TCM50, the finish was outstandingly beautiful! I wish the tone would have been too. I can't figure out what the low E and A strings were there for. There was no real resonance for these two strings when playing unplugged. D, G, B and high E sounded nice. And the lower strings sounded better plugged in. If you want a guitar to play without an amp, IMHO you should look elsewhere.

Sending it back today. The finish is marred due to the way it was boxed up. There is also a small flaw in the finish on the back where the clear coat wasn't applied right. Sounds weak compared to my other Ibanez accoustic guitar.
