Radical cosmetics with the tone and action to back them up!

The Jackson Kelly KE-3 Electric Guitar has a unique body design and sharkfin inlays that make a bold statement with looks alone. But this rocker is a sonic flamethrower too. It features an ultrafast rosewood fretboard. A Duncan Designed DD103N pickup at the neck and a DD103B at the bridge give it ample sustain and tonal range. Its JT580LP tremolo lets you bend and twist notes to the max while staying in tune.

Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better!

Ok it?s a Jackson Kelly, oh wow. Some dumb metal head use?s this I gotta get one. Well just wait little child, if that?s the only reason your getting this beast then go for it. Yes the neck is thin, but that?s about it. It sounds like crap, you?ll have to replace the pick ups and the Floyd rose, get rid of those junk knobs cause there gonna get stripped (how I have no idea but they do) the body is sooo cheep that it?s not worth it. You would think a ?funky shaped? guitar would have a heavier quality to withstand the harshest of times. YEAH RIGH!! You better treat this baby like a piece of crystal. If you wanna ?weird looking guitar? then rock out jacksons are def. for you. Don?t buy this if you?re an ?actual? musician, if you want good tone, amazing sound, great quality, and a guitar that can withstand anything. You bets be going to get a Gibson. I was sponsored by Jackson for 4 years. Now I wont even take there stuff for free. Don?t waste your time

Nice Guitar

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

This guitar is pretty nice.It has a pretty fast neck. My only problems with it are that the neck is a bolt-on, and at this price I would expect a set neck, and that there is only one volume knob for both pickups. The bolt-on really isn't anything big, it'd just be nice to have a set neck. On mine, I got an EMG-81/85 setup, and had the shop install two knobs for each pickup. If you can deal with the pickups and the one knob though, its a real nice guitar.

i like this guitar alot......except for two things, it doesn,t hug you like a strat so it can get pretty uncomfortable....and my floyde wont stay in tune , i think the knife edges are binding....i've tried everything else. i'll have to get a tremsetter for this big deal i guess. other than that i love it.....sounds good plays great!

i found this guitar for cheap as old stock at a local guitar shop, so i thought i'd get it. even though metal isn't my style, it's great for everything i play. sounds really solid. the only complaints are i find it difficult/uncomfortable to play because i started on a strat. it's not quite balanced for me either, but i put up with it. also it's difficult to tune because it changes pitch slightly when you lock it down. sounds great palm-muted, nice high tones too. just overall nice guitar, but maybe a lil bulky!

I do not own this guitar but I have played it. This is a really nice guitar, the neck is slim and fast. This guitar is also balanced pretty well. Also the action on this guitar is pretty low making it easy to play. Overall its pretty nice.

Best Guitar for Metal

I bought this guitar recently and I couldn't be more satisfied. I play guitar in a metal band and I needed the speed of a Jackson for my playing needs. This guitar makes it so easy to tremolo pick. When I first picked it up I was skeptical, but when I started getting fimiliar with its weight and neck action i was sold! Overall one of the best Jacksons.

Metal paradise

By Diego Caliri

I bought this guitar 5 months ago and I found it great. The one I bought came with Duncan Design Detonator Humbuckers thou, and I love not only the agressive sound but the jumbo frets. I`ve played lots of guitars and definately this is among the best guitars to play Metal music (specially speed metal)

This guitar rocks

from Kodiak Alaska

This guitar rocks. it is the best guitar i have ever owned are played. its thin neck gives you master metal shredding action and the the pickups are great and it doesnt give to much feed back but when it does it blends into what you're playing.

Awesome Sound, little high maintenance

By Zimm

from Lincoln, NE

First the guitar rocks. Some of the best distortion you can find. I have had mine for about 5 years. If you've never had a Floyd Rose system, it can be a trick (this is the high maintenance part). Changing gauges of strings usually require some minor adjusting. But once you set this baby up, look out. Only complaints is 1. I've had to replace the switch a few times (these switches have been an ongoing pain, and the better switches don't fit), had some problems with the pickups cutting out .... and 2. This guitar definately needs strap locks, its easy to bang it up due the shape. But small price to pay for the sound. Overall I recommend this bad boy, and its fairly priced..... Buy it!!

Holy Fun

By Serpentry

This guitar is the most awesome shred machine you could get for this price. The Kelly is the death, black, and thrash guitarists ultimate dream. Its whammy bar gives you an un-comparable edge. Its ultra fast fret board is just amazing. Did I mention it's got killer looks?

Simply mean...

By J.p-waVZq

I live music, and that being metal, I went on a search looking for a guitar that screams metal, basically brought me to jackson, jackson guitars have a very sinister sharp look, and this guitar has a wicked sound.I changed the pickups in it to Emgs, i noticed they have a little bit more sustain and a little bit more thickness and depth giving out a lot of bass, but the original pickups were also very nice, very crisp clean sound, and nice action as well, and the neck is very thin, making it a "very" fast playing guitar, if you play metal or rock of any sort... this guitar does the job easily. only problem i had with it was i had a fender first, and i got used to the thicker neck on the fender... but i never play the fender now.

Super-Rock Guitar for Great Price

By Sabian®

The KE-3 I have is about 6 years old. In that time, I've made a couple changes to it since the day I bought it. I replaced the pickups with Duncans and made it a fixed bridge instead of a floating tremolo (I do many tuning changes and floating trems don't like radical tuning changes). After all the use and abuse I've dished out, it is still my favorite guitar that I have. Nothing crunches like my Kelly. The Poplar body/neck and quilted maple top add great midrange bite to the tone. Great for drop and lower tunings. The Kelly handles all string gauges and types easily. I have stainless 12-65's on mine (straight B tuning, B-E-A-D-F#-B) and it sounds so amazing. The neck is an awesome 17mm thick neck. Perfect for lightning fast leads and runs. The Kelly can be set for super low action too. I highly recommend this guitar for the ShredMaster or the still kicking MetalHead.

Really Great Guitar, BUT...

By RoninDH

from New Orleans, LA

I really love my Jackson Kelly, but I do have a few complaints about it. 1st - the trem, as it hits the volume knob. 2nd - the locking neck no longer locks down. One of the screws became stripped somehow, then when I had the repair guy at the local Guitar Center work on it, he stripped all 3 of the screws and refused to offer me a refund. That's really about it complaints why. But when it comes to the sound and playability, you'd be really hard pressed to find a better metal guitar.

Great Explorer-style guitar for the money

You can't beat the price on this bad boy. Once it's set up, it's a great guitar. The trem is nice and responsive, the action is fast, and the looks are super-cool. Can't say anything about the pickups, since I replaced them the day I got the guitar (but that's more my personal taste than anything else, I replaced the Duncan Designed pickups with a Screamin' Demon at the bridge and a Distortion at the neck). Do yourself a favor and grab it. If you like metal/shreder guitars, you can't go wrong.

This Guitar is awseome. When i first picked it up and played the first riff on it it sounded like heaven. I use it every day and the floyd rose tremolo and super fast neck makes it even better. I really recomend getting the fender straplocks with it.
