OVERVIEW

A more affordable Randy Rhoads model!

The strikingly designed Jackson RR3 Rhoads Pro Electric Guitar is a great guitar for its price. Alder body (with flamed maple top on the transparent finishes), maple neck, compound-radius rosewood fretboard, jumbo frets, Floyd Rose-licensed double-locking tremolo, Duncan Designed Detonator humbuckers, volume/volume/tone with 3-way switching, and chrome hardware.

Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better!

FEATURES
  • Alder body with flamed maple top under transparent finishes
  • Bolt-on maple neck
  • Compound-radius rosewood fretboard
  • Sharkfin inlays
  • 25-1/2" scale
  • 22 jumbo frets
  • 1-11/16" nut width
  • Floyd Rose-licensed double-locking tremolo
  • Volume, volume, tone, three-way
  • Duncan Designed Detonator pickups

Let me begin by saying that I've spent (or should say wasted lot's of money) on other high-end guitar's including a Gibson '57 Goldtop Re-issue (big time piece of ****!). It will be selling on EBAY very soon. This guitar, while being Japanese made, was a much better purchase. The quality of the guitar is excellent. The fret work and action on this guitar is superior to my Gibson (piece of ****!). I've replaced the pickups (DiMarzio PAF Pro and Super Distortion) and replaced the tremolo (Original Floyd Rose). Needless to say, this axe plays and sounds wonderful. Even with these changes (including the case) I've spent about a third what I spent for my Gibson and this guitar plays and sounds much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm just as patriotic as the next person, however, "Made in the USA" doesn't always mean better, but it always means more expensive. It's a real shame. This guitar is a great bargain!

When I first tried this guitar, I was blown away. As soon as I took it home, however, I was thoroughly dissapointed. I understand that it is a lower end model, but the pickups are HORRIBLE. If I would have known that I would need to spend an additional $200+ on new pickups, I would have never bought it. I am planning on changing them to two EMG 81's, which are of much greater quality. Also, when I took the guitar home, I noticed that one of the screws in the bridge was totally F-ed up, so I'm stuck with a faulty bridge. If I could, I would take back the guitar, but now it seems as if my only choice is to sell it. I could use the $500 for a Peavey 5150 Combo anyways... Basically what I'm saying is, if you can afford it, step up to a better guitar; you wont be sorry.

This guitar will kill your guitar!

    By fast fingas

This guitar is great, period. Except the truss rod is a little crappy that the neck being so thin and fast but this guitar shreds. I highly recommend it because I was blown away at the feel and comfort of it (standing up). Buy this if you can handle it.

    sweet metal axe

One of the coolest guitars i've played. it's light and the duncan designed pickups have a great tone. this guitar is for people who play metal, not the best clean guitar.

I was amazed how well this guitar stays in tune after a scream, the looks are killer, great feel for sitting and standing, and incredibly fast action. I love everything about this guitar, it's worth it.

    Great Guitar!

    By Anonymous

I recently played this guitar at Guitar Center and I loved it. The neck is really fast and the pickups are pretty good( the distortion can get mixed in, making it hard to hear what your playing). Right now I own a Gibson SG and this guitar is right up there. The Floyd Rose is also a great addition. The only reasons not to get this guitar would be the pickups ( I the seymour duncan jazz and distortion or the EMG ZW set) and the lack of cool paint jobs ( The RR5 pinstripe for instance).

    Fast as Kirk's

I recently got this guitar for Christmas and love it. It's as fast if not faster than my KH. It's easy toplay sitting down if you are a taller person (6'2") or taller. The pickups are sweet and heavy. The only complaint I have is that there is alot of Hum even when the volume is set at 0. If one pickup is at zero and the other at full, there is a slight hum on the pickups set at zero. I think the plating on the pickguard is creating a short somewhere in the circuitry. Other than that it is a great guitar and I would highly recommend buying one.

    AWESOME AXE!!!

This guitar is awesome! It's my favorite over my Les Paul!!! I really actually wish I had the RR1, but when I bought this I was a little low on cash, and couldn't afford the other guitar. Anyway, this guitar is my main axe, and I'm glad to own it. Definitely get the case if you get the guitar! Must buy! Great guitar, from a great company!!

    Superb value

    By RR Croatia

Pickups could be better, and a neck-through body construction isn't available - Floyd Rose is licensed. It has everything, but it's only a shadow of what is supposed to be. Close to the ESP, Maverick, Dean - as it can be for that price.

    Incredible Guitar!!!!!!

I got mine used, and it's a strange one with a reverse headstock. It's currently my favorite guitar, and it plays wonderfully. The floyd-rose stays in tune just fine, the guitar doesn't sound like the holy grail or anything, but it sounds good, and it's a great guitar for the money. If Randy Rhoads designed it, it's gotta be the greatest metal guitar of all!!! /m/

    Just Great

    By Anonymous

K Honestly ne of they Ne-Sayers are either deaf or just plain stupid. The Floyd Rose is amaing and keeps the minimal amount of detuning possible by a tremlo. it looks awesome but the paint does chip easily. I replaced the pickups on mine with an EMG 60 at the Neck and an 81 at the bridge and it is better than ne guitar I've ever had or seen. Also the Double volume feature is amazing.

    Good Guitar

Alright, i have had this for about a year, and i have made what i find to be necessary upgrades to it. When i first got it, i loved it, but the pickups start to wear out, i dont know if they do physically, but the sound gets to be a little plain, so i added a dimarzio super distortion in the bridge. It doesnt have too many features, a neck-through would be nice, but i love the guitar, so i would recomend it to anyone, don't think twice about buying this guitar , if you're looking for a guitar in the price range, its great.

This guitar ROCKS!!! I kept the same pickups but added a 10 band EQ in front of an MXR Dist+ pedal and the guitar is PURE METAL!!! Action so fast that playing legato is much easier!!! I play an SG for chorus oriented music but the Rhoads is made to be played like a madman

    Mehh

I played this at a music store the other day. It has some ok electronics, and it looks very cool. What I didn't like is that the strings seem verrry far apart and the neck is pretty wide. The shape is cool, but the reflective piece around the knobs temporarily blinded me, causing me to lose balance and impale a small child, which was cool, but I would replace the neck on this guitar if I planned on using it. Feel free to email me if you got questions.

    Awsome Jackson

    By JAKE101

My friend has the guitar and it is wicked. I love it. It has just great sound and it comes with awsome pickups. The only thing kinda bad is the shape. It is hard to sit down while playing. And not a good idea to walk around the house with it because the long V hits every wall.

    Crazy Beast

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

This guitar is a killer beast. I bought a black colored one the other day and could not be happier. The neck is fast and not too heavy, and the Floyd Rose is perfect for dive bombing notes. The first knob on the guitar controls the 3 way selector, and I have mine as a kind of on/off switch so when I toggle it back and forth it sounds cool. The pickups are Duncan Designed Detonators (made to be a less expensive version of the Seymore Duncan Invaders)are actually not that bad, but I am probably going to save up my money and throw in some DiMarzio X2N's.The only complaints that I have is that the long V shape end of the guitar chips easily, so you have to be careful. Also, the guitar collects dust and fingerprints easily, but if you just dust and wash it everyday it will be fine. I recommend getting a Jackson hardshell case for it.

i just got my rr3 yesterday in teh transparent blue. the finish is extremely nice and the top is very nicely flamed. this guitar absolutly screams. the pickups are very versitile and sounds good on my 15 wat fender frontman or the marshall stack i played it on in the shop before i bought it. the floyd rose is very stabela s far as tuning goes and is great for divebombs. this guitar completely blows my old squier start out of the water. i recomend this to any player ......beginer or pro
