Comments about Jasmine S-34C Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:

Though I bought this guitar for strictly for travel, I find myself playing it quite often now, even though I own very fine and more expensive acoustics made by Martin and a Larivee, among others. The only weak feature on this guitar (besides the replaceable tuners) is the laminated top, which is what you expect from an instrument of this price. However, the e S-34C has a surprisingly good sound and it's easy to play since it's set up very well at the factory. It makes a great travel guitar since it sounds good and is easy to play in nearly any acoustic style—blues, country, Celtic, folk, etc. Yet replacing it, in the event of an accident, is not a major setback, as it would be with my other much more expensive guitars. I even find myself playing jazz chords with a good response on this instrument. I should add that I build guitars and violins, and I'm impressed with the quality of this instrument, not as a fine piece of handmade artistry, but as a very playable and well made factory instrument with a surprisingly decent sound. (We can't keep cutting trees down just to make workhorse instruments for home use or for travel.) Thus, every guitarist should have one of these just for fun, even if you already have some more expensive instruments. This would also be great for a beginner, as the intonation and response are good.

Comments about Jasmine S-34C Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:

Nice smooth gears on the tuning pegs. Great quality all around.

I removed a factory installed shim under the saddle, and loosened the truss 1/2 turn, now the action is great. I also replaced the strings right away.

Comments about Jasmine S-34C Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased this as a gift for a beginner. I feel that this is a great beginner guitar for the money, but the one I got did require setup to be playable. The action was extremely high and I had to adjust both the nut and saddle. Once setup the intonation was good even with light strings.

Do yourself a favor and order yourself a set of strings when you order the guitar. The strings it comes with are not really usable.

Even with new strings the sound was a bit dull. I expect that will improve as the guitar ages.

I own lots of guitars. This has to be one of the best values on the market.

Buy one. You'll be amazed at how beautifully the guitar opens up after a couple of weeks. Plus, it's a surprisingly nice-looking instrument.

Comments about Jasmine S-34C Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:

I so happy with my purchase. I never thought it would be this beautiful guitar. Good craftsmanship, fast neck and low action right from the box. Sound is rich better with those other entry level guitars and you can still improve it by changing the strings. Overall, this is a steal for its price range. Get one and see for yourself.

Comments about Jasmine S-34C Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:

Long story short: really nice guitar after a small amount of work, would NOT recommend high-tension medium strings, go light.

First impressions when opening the box: super light, good feel, strings need immediate replacement (don't know if they hang out in a warehouse for a few years before getting shipped, but they were corroded beyond belief) and the action was terrible.

I spent a total of 20 minutes and it's now a really nice guitar! Put a capo on the 1st fret, unwound things enough to pull the pegs and set the strings aside. Then pulled out the saddle (don't be shy newbies, it's not a $5000 martin, learn the instrument!). Sure enough, there was a spacer down there. Pulled that out and tried again, but it was still too high for my taste. So I sanded the saddle down a few millimeters and voila, much much better.

The only new strings I had on hand were elixer phosphor bronze mediums that I use on my Guild f50 (beast of a guitar), so I decided to give them a shot. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HIGH TENSION OF A STRING ON THIS GUITAR! The pegs don't really sit down and I was pretty nervous about the tension on the neck. Ordered some Martin lights and unwound things a bit.

Comments about Jasmine S-34C Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:

As other reviewers have stated: this is lot of guitar for the money. I did adjust the truss rod, sand the saddle and change the strings and it plays beautifully with good tone, but it was definitely playable right out of the box with good intonation. Fit and finish are quite nice and it is amazing that MF sells them at this this price. I am very satisfied with this guitar.

Comments about Jasmine S-34C Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:

First let me say don't buy this guitar expecting the sound of an expensive Takamine. With that said, if you need a player guitar...something to learn on or take on vacation or around the campfire or send with a kid to college...then this is the guitar to get. I would recommend to everyone that you spend another thirty or so on top of the cost of this guitar and change out the strings and tuners. A good set of Elixir Nanoweb coated strings and some good quality closed tuners make a huge difference with this guitar's sound and its ability to stay in tune. The S34C has a nice full sound and deep tone. There is no pick up so keep that in mind if you're looking for something to plug in. All in all...this is a great guitar for beginners and experienced players alike.

and wow! Could not believe the feel and sound of this guitar not

This guitar is great for practice or taking with you, it plays ok but needs some work to make it nice. The frets are sharp on the ends, the neck needed adjustment, but overall great value for the price. If you are looking for Martin quality, you will be disappointed, but if you are looking for an inexpensive strum that sounds decent, this one can not be beat.
