Comments about Manuel Rodriguez C Cedar Top Classical Guitar:
When I was in Las Vegas last December, I went into a guitar store and tried out every classical guitar they had. I discovered that the sound quality of the guitars appeared to be a function of the manufacturer and not a function of the price. That is to say, ALL the Rodriguez guitars sounded better than ANY of the other manufacturer's models, irrespective of price. After discovering that, it was just a matter of how much I was willing to spend. I didn't buy one from the shop, because all they had was display models and I wanted one that was "brand new". If it was to have any scratches, I wanted to be the one to put them there! I bought the Model C because it was a medium priced model.
I lived in San Diego, CA for several years. I was (and am!) a great fan of the Romero Family, who lived nearby. I knew that they used Rodriguez guitars (at least when I saw them!) and that's what initially drew me to that manufacturer. However, that alone would not have convinced me to buy one (Sorry Angel!) but the sound quality and just the look and feel of the guitar did convince me. And I haven't been disappointed!
This is my second Rodriguez guitar. My first one was an FF Model Flamenco. I like the C Model much better eventhough it's much less expensive but that's not to say that the two should be compared. The C Model's action is exactly where I like it- the FF Model seems to be too high. The tone on the C Model is great and it's very easy to play. I have several other classical guitars but now I play only the Rodriguez. Just like a good horse can make you look like you're a better rider than you really are- a good sounding guitar can make you into a better sounding guitarist and the Rodriguez Model C does exactly that!
The quality is excellent- I couldn't find any flaws and I am particular!
I got the Rodriguez Model C on sale after Christmas, so I saved a few dollars but I think that it sounds like a much more expensive guitar than it really is!
Comments about Manuel Rodriguez C Cedar Top Classical Guitar:
I bought this as an upgrade from the 1950s Yamaha (Nippon Gakki Ltd.) C-60A Ive been using for the past fifteen years, and I am very impressed. The first thing I noticed is that its about half the weight of the Yamaha, and extremely playable, much easier and more comfortable. Its sound is amazing, and the smell of the cedar is awesome. This thing is a true piece of artwork, and I wouldnt hesitate to purchase another Rodriguez guitar.
