Perfect for powerful rhythm playing or standout soloing.
Martin Guitar & Musician's Friend joined forces to create the "Carpathian Cannon" Custom D. They're in stock and they're knocking down walls!
Martin's Custom D Series Carpathian Cannon Rosewood acoustic guitar is a 6-string dreadnought, perfect for any musical arrangement. Whether playing alone, with your buddies, or random festival-goers in the parking lot, Martin's Carpathian Cannon guitar has got you covered.
Built on the Dreadnought platform, the Carpathian Cannon features tremendous sound, balanced from lows to highs, with a full, robust midrange. It starts with a rosewood body offering full, balanced tone.
The new "Kinetic Synergy" top and bracing are inspired by early 1940's Martin Dreadnaughts, long famous for their great balance, reactive response, and power. This Custom run of guitars is limited to 25 Rosewood pieces and will not be repeated.
The Carpathian Spruce soundboard is milled to prewar dimensions, which sets it apart from its current counterparts. Relatively new to guitar makers, Carpathian Spruce is quickly proving itself as a premier tone wood with just the right stiffness and density for maximum responsiveness. Combined with the special "early '40s position" bracing pattern, but with ?" bracing & tone bars, the "synergy" created allows more top vibration while remaining very balanced and not overly "boomy".
The thin, stiff, lightly braced top creates a magic tone that prompted the name "Cannon."
Featuring a select hardwood for the neck and fastened with a traditional dovetail neck joint, this Martin guitar is set to grow as you do, and stand the test of time, with a tone that will keep getting better and better.
The Martin Carpathian Cannon Guitar's ebony fretboard and bridge produce clear, defined sustain, while the low-profile neck shape offers comfort and dexterity, allowing you to dance across the 20 frets. Gotoh nickel butterbean tuners continue the instrument's neo-classic look, while offering precision tuning.
Featuring nickel hardware, trimmed with beautiful lined binding around the top, and dressed in a nitro finish, this gorgeous Martin acoustic guitar sounds as good as it feels, and will pique the interest of anyone in earshot of its beautiful projection. Includes case.

It has the punch of a D35.Really bright also. Ebony fret board proves smooth. Definately a 21st century D28 at a better price, Well worth the money. USE MARTIN STRINGS
The Custom Carpathian rivals the Martin D28 Maquis for sound. I have both guitars and did a comparison and the Cannon holds it's own with the up scale Marquis. If my budget would allow I would but the mahogany to add to my collection!
I'm thrilled with this guitar. First off the setup was great. No buzz even with hard strumming and the action is fairly low (easy barre chords). Secondly, the sound is just wonderful. Whether I'm strumming chords, doing some boom chuck or playing some melody...... this guitar excels at whatever you play on it. The bass is plenty strong but it doesn't over power the rest of the sound. When playing individual notes or double stops the sound is just sweet and silky. I'm in love.
I just love the ebony fretboard. It just feels so nice on your finger tips. When compared to the other Martin options, this guitar has all the things you want and comes in less expensive than comparable models (D-28, D-35). I was worried about spending this much money on a Martin that was not a common name model (D-18, D-28 you get the picture) but I'm glad I got past that. One thing I will note, this guitar is lighter than the usual Martin. However, it's well put together and can be as loud as you want it to be.
If you have been eyeballing this guitar and are on the fence about it, get it. You won't be disappointed. As I'm writing this, there are only three left. I'd assuming all the rest of the guitars are as good as mine. I played a bunch of Martins today at Guitar Center (including a D-35) and none of them compared to this model.
Believe me, this is not anything like the Custom D that were out there. This is not anything like the MMV model. This is not like a D-16RGT. This is a legit true real deal big boy Martin in terms of build, features and most importantly sound. By the way, love the nitro finish. Okay, I'm done gushing.
Carpathian spruce top, Cool open back vintage style tuners, Special top bracing. Solid rosewood back and sides. Ebony fretboard and bridge. Volute on back of the neck/headstock. Dove tail neck joint All kinds of goodies on this guitar.
Everything on mine is perfect.
This is a special guitar. It's like an HD-35 and a D-28 got together and had a baby. I've had an HD-28 and a D-35. This model is cheaper than either of those two and in my opinion it's better. But that's one person's opinion.
