I've owned a DCX1KE for many years now, and I'm now writing a review because I finally feel as if I know this guitar and what its capable of.

Guess what, the neck might bow or unbow slightly. This is a fact of life for guitars that aren't made of rock.. Luckily, guitars have been made with trussrods for decades.  Give that puppy a quarter or half turn now and again if you have a buzz, or high action problem.
Humidity is the nemesis of the DCX1KE.  As such, buy a "Damp-It" and keep this guy IN THE CASE when you're not playing.  This isn't the kind of box you hang on your wall if you expect it to play well when you do pick it up.

The acoustic tone is to be expected.  Solid spruce top goes along way, though "NASA-Designed crazy composite" backs and sides is another word for cheap, so don't be fooled.  The guitar is a bit boomy, especially if your mic'ing for a recording session.  Not much you can do about that.

The Fishman pickup isn't half bad, there's a certain "texture" about the sound of the pick-up could drive some players up the wall.  Live, it works well enough, thats about it though.

No bells or whistles on this piece, which I actually prefer.  The corian nut can pinch the strings a bit, which can easily make (Fine) tuning a nightmare. A decent Martin for the price. But play seriously, and you WILL grow out of this guitar.

I would not believe anything you read with these reviews.  I selected several different types of martin guitars rangeing from really expensive down to the cheap.  And guess what everyone of the reviews were from the same people?  I guess their loaded and able to purchase any and all guitars.  I will never buy a guitar from this company since they seem to think this is a game.  The truth hurts.  anyway Martin guitars are great from top to bottom as are most manufactures.  If you want an honest review call the companies and they will set you straight.

When I got my Martin, I was pleased with the sound especially vs. the price. But in a very short period of time, I found the guitar was having problems. Some of the joining of the body to the sitka top seemed to be loosening and the neck warped just enough to cause fret buzz on the E & B strings. I was looking at this as a practice guitar and an open mic type of instrument where I wouldn't care if it got dinged in use as long as it sounded okay, because the price was right for that. But the fret buzz got to be so bad and annoying that while practicing with my friends, I got so fed up that I trashed it. I really should have just gone with a similarly-priced model from another manufacturer, but no, I HAD to have a Martin. I didn't get 6 months of performance out of the instrument, money not well spent. I guess that their high end stuff is still worth it, but I won't venture to find out. I'll stick with something that I know works.

This is really a great guitar, and i'll tell you why. Its made from a crazy composite that NASA helped Martin & Co. develop. The sides are made from wood shavings and composite, and that really makes it a lot more durable than your average dreadnaught. It has a spruce top for signiture martin tone and smell. Oh god, the smell... it smells soooo good. The pickups arent bad either. Good, low action. Excellent bright tone. No buzz anywhere on any fret. Capo sounds good as far as it will stay cliped. It was made in North America (Mexico), which is about as good as your gonna get for the price and quality. A GREAT BUY, I record acoustic music and this will be my guitar of choice until it's to broken to repair.

I've used mine several times a week ever since buying it about 2 and half years ago.  It is great for playing.  The electronics are first class for performing with an amp or PA.  Nice bass sound for playing live without a mike.  On-board EQ is a life-saver for quick fixes on sound while performing.  Has held up well traveling and playing.  For live recordings with a mike, it does have a little extra bass sound, but you can EQ that out.  Great for note picking with the cut-out. You can play it like an electric guitar.
