I have had 2 DXK2's over the years. I just sold both of them to buy another. It produces a sound like no other. I put bone in my last bridge because the strings cut into the plastic pretty easy, but there again, I play EVERYDAY. And, I don't think the sound is as crisp from about the 7th fret down. Also the decorative "inlay" circling the sound hole becomes worn off at the bottom a little quicker than I would like. Could just be the way I pick. I bang it pretty hard, sometimes breaking strings. I actually attached a solid mahogany pick guard to one of the guitars. Don't get the wrong idea about the negative things I mentioned. All in all I would, and did buy another one. It will take abuse and you simply can't beat the deep tone for this price, and I have had lots of different guitars over the years.

I bought this guitar a year ago and thought i had got a great deal. But after a few months the laminate body started to seperate from the inside frame. Now the guitar is worthless and barely playable. Next time I am sticking with good old fashioned WOOD!

nice guitar

By Orionstar

from MA

Been playing for 30 years. Best guitar I've played under $800 I have a DX-15 mahogany as well. The DxK2 is more percussive and has great bass. The neck plays like an electric. Highly recommended- wish ny first Omaha was as good.

It's Haunting Me

Ask me a question

I tried this guitar at a local shop and have visited it twice since. Incredibly true Martin sound. Beautiful finish. It rings. It sings. I am a bit freaked by the HPL finish (quality concerns)...but, playing it over-rides my brain. I own a bass & 3 electrics (all good to great quality). I am having a hard time justifying the purchase...but this Koa Martin is Haunting Me. Maybe on the next visit....

Great Guitar!

I've had the guitar for around 3 months now. A simple guitar with a great sound. You can't find a guitar that sounds and feels this good for the cost. While the guitar is made of HPL it still has that warm Martin sound and clarity. It sounds amazing recorded.

Superb Guitar

So happy I bought this guitar. Its look is incredible, it has the classic Deep Rhythm playing Martin Guitar Sound, and it smells awesome. Seriously. The smell of a fresh Martin should be made into an air freshner. Anyway, if your interested in this guitar, just buy it.

GREAT ACOUSTIC!

I recently got this guitar as a birthday present.. best present ever! The fretboard is incredibly smooth, and has a great feel. Personally, I'm not one for finishes, so I love the natural look to the guitar, and how it feels. The strings stay in tune forever!! My only complaint is that the A string (2nd string down) seems to be a bit overpowering.. But not too bad. In one word: phenomenal.

fabulous

Mine is one of the "made in the USA" models, and it is fantastic. It has great tone and playability, and the build quality is really good. I had a choice to get either the "display" model, which was a USA made one, or a brand new in box model, which was made in mexico. I chose the USA model and couldn't be happier. The HPL is not a detraction, it is a positive, as this guitar will not warp ith humidity, etc. This is a real CFMartin and is a very fine guitar.

Best Value

By Happy Martin

Where else can you get a brand new Martin for less than 500$ ? This guitar is simply the best you can buy for the cost. I've had mine for over 3 years, and it's still just as good as it always has been. I could not be happier with my purchase, and to date, I have not found an acoustic guitar that I enjoy playing more than my Martin Koa.

A hot look with a great sound!

By CrystlClear21

from Harrisburg, PA

I saw the pictures, I read the reviews, and I had to see for myself if the Martin DXK2 Koa was as good as everyone said it was...and it is! It has such rich sound and a really tight look to it. Everyone I've shown a picture of it to has said that it's a hot guitar, so it's gotta be true! Whether picking, strumming, finger-picking, using harmonics, whatever...this guitar sounds so good. I'd recommend it 100%!

Solid no-frills guitar.

By LynnMassGuy-IrXFj

Great solid no frills guitar. Like any acoustic guitar, don't judge it until you get a fresh set of strings on her. Suprisingly great tone especially considering it's made of HPL. The neck is an absolute 10. This neck has no dead spots. I can't put it down. I may even throw a pickup in it. It's made in PA whereas some of the other "DX" Martins are made in Mexico which was also a selling point for me. I have absolutely no regrets. Great guitar.
