i have had this guitar for over a year now, I play it quite often. for the money it is a great buy but if you're looking for that "Martin" projection you need to spend more money and get the 16 or anything with solid wood sides, this one has composite wood sides and projection is compromised. all in all it is a great guitar for rhythm but it won't stand out in a group setting.

Good party guitar

By DXME owner

from Texas

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a nice guitar for the price. The action is a little tough and isn't exactly a booming dreadnought, but it gets the job done. It has turned into my party guitar because of it's durability. I've owned (and thoroughly bumped and beaten) this guitar for 9 years, and there isn't even a ding in it. For acoustic-electrics in this price range, the Martin DXME or the Taylor 110e are great buys.

Not my Fathers Martin

By Tazman2001

from San Diego

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I went to a music store yesterday and saw this guitar sitting on a stand. Something about it looked peculiar so I picked it up and was checking it out. I looked in the sound hole and noticed it was made in Mexico. The salesman then told me it was made out of some kind of laminate. Not made in USA, not wood, is nothing sacred anymore? When I "thought" of Martin, I thought of made in the US of quality wood guitars. Disappointed to say the least!

Great Guitar, Just a few drawbacks

By Mikejames

from Florida

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

First of all this plays beautifully. The sound is very warm and I love it! People always complement me on the looks of the guitar. I love this guitar, but there are a few things you should know. 1. This guitar is very quiet. 2. The action is very high, I had to sand down the bridge to make this guitar playable. But after I did that it is pretty good. 3. It does not have a cut away, so if you ever want to hit some high notes its going to take some effort. Plus if you want to play lead, with another acoustic guitar accompining you. No one will be able to hear you this guitar is really quiet. I guess what I'm trying to say is it won't stand out in a crowd. But on the other hands if you like to play rhythm, this guitar is perfect! The sound is amazing and I would HIGHLY recommend this guitar for rhythmic purposes. Once again this Guitar has a warm sound and it sounds great. AND its a Martin, so you can't go wrong.

Plays and sounds like a $1500 Martin. Better tone than any Taylor/Breedlove/Seagull. Action is Great and low. Neck is smoooooth and FAST. Setup was perfect. Bought it, and took it to band practice at church the same night. Fishman Classic 4 sounds great through my Fender Amp. Very versital. From Praise band to serenading the wife at dinner.Buy it.

amazing guitars with few drabacks

By debeneto

from portland, me

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I absoulutly love this guitar. I have had it for a year and I don't have many complaints about it at all. The only piece of advice that i would give someone who was getting the guitar would be to get a HARD case for it. I got a soft case for it and i was about to play a gig when i droped it out of the trunk of my car and the whole bottom piece seperated and i had to glue it back together. don't learn the hard way like i did. i would rocomend this guitar to anyone who wants tone and warmth and all around good guitar this is the one for you... i love it and you will too.

martin DXME

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

ok 1000 characters limit ... here goes... this guitar is the sweetest playing instrument for the money hands down you wont beat it... action is very smooth up around the 10-15 fret ... string depth is great.... i got an epiphone for christmas ... it was the JOHN LENNON limited edition.... acoustic/electric it was a very limited ADDITION.... had to send that one back... to many nickle dime problems...i put 100 dollars more into buying this guitar... and brother let me tell you something ... the DMXE and DMX are made in mexico not nazzarath pa. HOWEVER!.... i get this ax and i look at it... looks like a counter top its laminate with a spruce top... i reaaly wasnt to impressed until i realized how well this resists warpage due to temp extremes... it is winter and the heat is on high in my house... so humidity is very low ...and all my wooden guitars reaaly are sensitive to the humidity fluctuations.. this DXME is by far the best guitar i have and damn sure not the cheapest... my gibson is so sensitive to humidity i have to keep it in the case.. it will curl up if i dont... and thats what changed my mind on the laminate construction... this guitar and take a hell of a knock and there is no visible damage.. do that to my gibson..a ding is a ding...and tone of this guitar just absolutely rings... and very easy to play.. the string pressure to produce chrisp tone is minimal..and the temp resistant construction is really a benefit if you hang you ax on a stand and it out all the time so you can just pick it up and play... also holds tune REALLY well... good quality tuners that hold position..( for the most part anyway the variation is minimal )...get short on letters here.. if you want a acou/elect this is definately pound for pound a contender it will out play damn near anything.. they have a straight acoustic version the DMX .. (nice) however i would for the price difference get the Dm-1 .. another sweetheart... and short money on the price difference... im am 110% pleased with this instrument... I LOVE IT ! as a matter of fact.. its my primary weapon and i have other guitars that cost in the 1000's .. price is not always an issue... performance is... dollar for dollar your not going to find a better choice and if you did the difference is going to up to the beholder.. i have nothing bad to say about this fiddle ... buy it and see!

Excellent Guitar for the price.

By Daniel Theriault

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this DXMI one and a half years ago. It was made in mexico. The sound is perfect but not to record music. good to make a gig, and partys and stuff. Sounds excellent for acoustic playing only. Too quiet for lead guitar playing. But an excellent guitar for the price. Recommend it very very mutch.

martin magic

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was hoping from the moment I ordered that it was what I wanted. Martin has the magic. This guitar, like others have mentioned, is a solid great guitar. I base my remarks by the "F" chord. If it's easy to play that open chord it's a winner. I like the spound acousticly, but it really shines through an amp, nice and warm. I thought I was going to have to pay big bucks for a full bodied electric Martin but this has what it takes. Some say it's a student guitar, but I use for coffee house gigs and it does the trick nicely. I live in new york state so I'm happy with the HPL technology. Kudos to Martin for quality and price!

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is great for finger picking through an amp but without one it?s a bit to quiet. Has that classic martin deep tone and is great for blues.

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

"I bought the left-handed version of this guitar yesterday, and already i've fallen in love! It's tone is warm and thick, and it's body is beautiful and distinctive. This is the best purchase i've made so far....I'm a songwriter and this axe matches my passion. Thanks Martin, for making such a beauty."

What more could you want?

By ohpraisetheone54

from Hendersonville, TN

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This Martin is a great buy and for the money there is nothing even close to it. The DXME sounds so nice and clean, the Fishman Pickus work real nice when plugged up to an amp.I read that many people said it wasn't that loud unplugged, but I put new Elixirs on it and it rings. In a Bluegrass setting it stands out,it has such a killer tone that when you pick it up you just wanna play it for hours. The neck is so fast too,I can play very fast and difficult runs much easier with this guitar. Bottomline,This is Great, Do not Pass it up.

It's been good

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for over four years now. I just got a new Breedlove, and it's very nice but the Martin served me very well. I'll keep it or pass it on and I recommend it to anyone. It has a great, distinct sound and an awesome bass and richness to it you wouldn't expect for the price. Great guitar, disregard the laminate wood.
