the negative reviews on this guitar can be summed up by one thing. people bought it thinking it was solid wood and found out its not. whoopdedoo. i played this guitar for the first time and fell in love with it and also bought it not knowing it wasnt wood but it plays, sounds, and feels great. youre gonna love this guitar if you give it a chance. you cant go wrong with a martin/fishman combo.

i have had this guitar for over a year now, I play it quite often. for the money it is a great buy but if you're looking for that "Martin" projection you need to spend more money and get the 16 or anything with solid wood sides, this one has composite wood sides and projection is compromised. all in all it is a great guitar for rhythm but it won't stand out in a group setting.

Good party guitar

By DXME owner

from Texas

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a nice guitar for the price. The action is a little tough and isn't exactly a booming dreadnought, but it gets the job done. It has turned into my party guitar because of it's durability. I've owned (and thoroughly bumped and beaten) this guitar for 9 years, and there isn't even a ding in it. For acoustic-electrics in this price range, the Martin DXME or the Taylor 110e are great buys.

Not my Fathers Martin

By Tazman2001

from San Diego

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I went to a music store yesterday and saw this guitar sitting on a stand. Something about it looked peculiar so I picked it up and was checking it out. I looked in the sound hole and noticed it was made in Mexico. The salesman then told me it was made out of some kind of laminate. Not made in USA, not wood, is nothing sacred anymore? When I "thought" of Martin, I thought of made in the US of quality wood guitars. Disappointed to say the least!

Excellent Guitar for the price.

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this DXMI one and a half years ago. It was made in mexico. The sound is perfect but not to record music. good to make a gig, and partys and stuff. Sounds excellent for acoustic playing only. Too quiet for lead guitar playing. But an excellent guitar for the price. Recommend it very very mutch.

Best Value and Sound

By Anonymous

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Plays and sounds like a $1500 Martin. Better tone than any Taylor/Breedlove/Seagull. Action is Great and low. Neck is smoooooth and FAST. Setup was perfect. Bought it, and took it to band practice at church the same night. Fishman Classic 4 sounds great through my Fender Amp. Very versital. From Praise band to serenading the wife at dinner.Buy it.

amazing guitars with few drabacks

By debeneto

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I absoulutly love this guitar. I have had it for a year and I don't have many complaints about it at all. The only piece of advice that i would give someone who was getting the guitar would be to get a HARD case for it. I got a soft case for it and i was about to play a gig when i droped it out of the trunk of my car and the whole bottom piece seperated and i had to glue it back together. don't learn the hard way like i did. i would rocomend this guitar to anyone who wants tone and warmth and all around good guitar this is the one for you... i love it and you will too.

Great Guitar, Just a few drawbacks

By Mikejames

from Florida

Comments about Martin DXME Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

First of all this plays beautifully. The sound is very warm and I love it! People always complement me on the looks of the guitar. I love this guitar, but there are a few things you should know. 1. This guitar is very quiet. 2. The action is very high, I had to sand down the bridge to make this guitar playable. But after I did that it is pretty good. 3. It does not have a cut away, so if you ever want to hit some high notes its going to take some effort. Plus if you want to play lead, with another acoustic guitar accompining you. No one will be able to hear you this guitar is really quiet. I guess what I'm trying to say is it won't stand out in a crowd. But on the other hands if you like to play rhythm, this guitar is perfect! The sound is amazing and I would HIGHLY recommend this guitar for rhythmic purposes. Once again this Guitar has a warm sound and it sounds great. AND its a Martin, so you can't go wrong.
