I bought this guitar in Perth, when both it and I were a long way from home. I've played it in Australia, Singapore, Ireland, England, Morocco, and France, as well as home here in the U.S., and passed around a good number of campfires along the way. Just about everyone who plays it loves it. It doesn't sound as good as my 000, and no one should expect it to, but I love to play it.
As for the negative reviews, it may be that they make some lemons, or that some instruments are damaged in shipping. It may also be that some people abuse their instruments. Protruding fret ends and failing glue joints happen when a guitar gets too hot, too cold, or too dry. Treat it like it's alive, and it won't die on you.
It's a travel guitar with the same features as many full-size instruments.
Some people are put off by the non-wood top, but I like it. It's a formica-like material, with spruce bracing. It's a great choice on this instrument. A body this small with a wood top would almost certainly have terrible bass response, unless a great deal of care was taken in carving and thinning the top. A piece of redwood could do the job, but it would be fragile and expensive by comparison. The formica top has a naturally bassy sound that would be too dark on a full size instrument, but which balances well on this little body.
I've been playing mine for six years, with no problems.
I can't think of a better guitar at this price.

This sounded like such a good idea, a small guitar that I could take anywhere, even on a plane. It sounded surprisingly good in the store but the true test is getting to know any guitar over a period of time. Then the weaknesses start to surface. First, the sound rapidly deteriorates as one plays further up the fretboard. Yes, I know it's just a small guitar but the buzzing is excessive. Next, it is not made clear that this guitar is not made from wood. Yes, the bracing is spruce but the back, sides and neck are some synthetic material. The sales guy honestly thought it was wood as I did only to find out later what it really was. Not a big deal because the sound is unusually full for a small guitar. I had someone look at the setup and he agreed, it was set to low and would require some warrenty work to get it right, not something you want to hear after purchasing a new guitar. I tried another model but found the same problem. I ended up returning the guitar, couldn't get used to the fret buzzing. So, I would give it below average ratings for overall quality but above average ratings on sound IF you play below the fifth fret. Above the fifth fret is a below average rating for sound.

Comments about Little Martin Series Acoustic Guitar:
I love this little guitar. I tried 2 other travel guitars and hated them. I play this one all the time even at home. It's easy to grab and go with it. I put a K&K pickup in it and it sounds great plugged in. I love Martin Guitars - this is my 3rd one. I will probably play it live just for fun because it is so easy to play and it sounds surprisingly great. I have 7 other acoustics and I really am very happy with this Little Martin.

Comments about Little Martin Series Acoustic Guitar:
This was my second guitar, I got it mostly for Traveling, but have found myself playing it more than my Full Size Fender. I love that it has a full neck, so you can practice, then play on a Full Size without having to get used to the proper finger placement. The action on it is really good as well. No tweaking was needed!

Comments about Little Martin Series Acoustic Guitar:
Debated over the lx1 and lxm for a long time. I wasn't able to try before I buy. I went with the koa lxm (lxk2). I love it! At 1st I hated it but it was because I was screwing the chords up with it being scaled down. Once I got used to it.. It's all I play. Very comfortable. I own several guitars and the other just sit now. This thing sounds great. Good for strumming, great for pickin! Well built, u can tell the wood is fake, but its not too bad. Very satisfied, definitely recommend.

Comments about Little Martin Series Acoustic Guitar:
I've been trying to learn guitar for years but could never seem to get it with my first guitar. I decided to research a good starter guitar and found great reviews on the Little Martin. The reviews were spot on. This little guitar is wonderful. I have actually learned more in the first couple of weeks using this guitar than I had in an entire year with my other guitar. Very happy with this guitar and would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Comments about Little Martin Series Acoustic Guitar:
I bought this guitar two years ago, as my first guitar. I am smaller in build, so I needed a guitar that would fit me better than a full size. This guitar is durable, made beautifully, and is a great price. I would reccomend this guitar to anyone, but especially those who are just starting out or need a smaller guitar with a pretty full sound.

Comments about Little Martin Series Acoustic Guitar:
My girlfriend wanted to learn how to play, but all of my guitars were much to big for her small hands. Martin has the answer! I purchased this for her and immediately she began playing with ease. The tone is incredible, sounds just as good as any full sized guitar. Best news of all, it's not too small to play for guy with big hands like myself! All around great buy.

Went on a 2 week road trip and lugged around my daughters electric guitar and amp. Thankfully my mom purchased this sweet little peice and wow! It is so light and easy to carry around. My daughter just wears it like a backpack and uses it all the time. Couldn't be more happy. Especially for the look, sound, and feel.

Comments about Little Martin Series Acoustic Guitar:
Being in the army and having been deployed quite a few times (currenly in sand land)I've been mulling over purchasing a guitar that would be feasible to be my travel companion. After narrowing my choices down between the bacpacker & little Martin,I chose the latter. Not disapointed at all.The sound is phenomenal for a 3/4 size. The HPL composite body is ideal due to the fact that I don't think a spruce top would be too resilliant in such extreme climates.I wish that I would have gotten one of these years ago!I chose the black model, the dark minimalist look is pretty sharp.(huge Cash & Danzig fan)The neck is very comforatable and action is nice.If you're shopping around for a quality 3/4 size guitar...look no further!
