Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series DCPA3 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Great package overall. Only gripe is with the case, and the factory setup but I don't think its Martins fault probably the guitar shop. I'd recommend this guitar to people looking for that Martin sound in an extremely playable package that shines on stage. I'll be playing this one in front of over a 1000 people on a regular basis.
This is a great bang for the buck US built acoustic guitar. It sounds better than a lot of the standard model Martins unplugged and plugged in its quite impressive. I've owned a number of really high end instruments and I kind of bought this one to be a workhorse stage guitar but it really sounds great unplugged also in its own way.
The quality is good I see no issues with the build quality and everything works good. It needed a little truss rod adjustment because it came loose while hanging in the shop for a few months. It corrected the action and made it more comfortable to play with .013's. I do wish they gave a better case with this package. Its a sturdy 3 Ply 3 latch flattop Martin case. Something with an arched top and more latches would be nice. I will be upgrading that soon. The pick up is top of the line but a bit hard to understand. You need to spend time plugged in with the manual in hand before you get on stage for the first time. Once you get a good understanding of the pickup its quite versatile and it really sounds great!!!
For under 2k this guitar is a fine instrument. It sounds better plugged in and unplugged than a lot of guitars costing up to $1k more IMO. I'd take this over a Standard D-28 or D-35 anyday and it smoked all the Taylor Dreads my shop had. Those comparisons were without plugging in I might add. The hybrid bracing pattern gives this guitar a really nice voice unplugged.

This is my Dream Guitar!

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series DCPA3 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a great sounding Guitar. I also have a Takamine that I've owned for 15 years. I have never found a guitar that sounded better than my Takamine, until now. I have always wanted a Martin, but never found the right one except for now. The DVD I got with it telling about the F1 system, was a little confusing. I found a You Tube site that better explained it. The sound coming from this guitar plugged or unplugged is amazing. I did have to get the action lowered a little bit, but no biggy. It is perfect now. I also upgraded the case. The case that comes with it is very heavy and is ok. I just wanted something better. I played in my Praise Band at Church this weekend and I am in love with this Guitar. I even love the smell of it.

this one just rung

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series DCPA3 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

In shopping I tried every Dreadnaught on the wall including Taylors and Gibsons. WIthout amplification this guitar sounds fantastic, and it was the best sounding electronics in a A/E guitar I have ever heard so far. The Fishman Aura F1 electronics are a little fussy for live preformance but once dialed in it cant be beat.
Im not so thrilled with the Richlite fretboard and bridge, but its perhaps more for sentamental reasons as I like the idea of an ebony fretboard and bridge. I will say that despite the Richlite this guitar sounds and plays amazing!
This guitar was perfect right off the wall! The action and setup was perfect
I will be honest what I paid for this guitar was the most I ever spent on an insturment in my life. But by the looks of things so far I am pleased with the quality of the guitar and do not forsee a replacement in the future.

WOW !!!!!!!!

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series DCPA3 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Have owned this instrument for about three months now and it has not let me down once. The tone that comes out of this for the price is amazing. The electronics take some getting used too but they are great once dialed in. I play mine thru a Fender Acoustisonic JR and it sounds 100% acoustic no tone or sparkle loss what so ever. Looking for a good Acoustic this would be a great choice for any genre

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series DCPA3 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I recently bought the DCPA3 after a lot of research and a lot of playing of Taylors and Martins. I've been playing Takamines for 35 years and always wanted a Martin. Luck would have it that I finally got the cash to make the purchase and I don't regret it one bit.The electronics on this instrument are incredible. The sound through my acoustic amp with this instrument is soooooo much better than my Takamine 6 string and I was really happy with it. The construction is excellent and it plays great!Buy this guitar and you will be set for life!

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series DCPA3 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased a Martin GPCPA1 guitar and wrote about it as my dream guitar and I love it. But I find I also like a dread too, especially for band performance. Well, this model may be a lot less than the Martin's fancier version, but it is no less a quality guitar. This guitar is flawless. And I like it's look just as much as the more expensive model. Loud crisp projection, perfect craftsmanship, and great looks. I love the off set position markers. With your eyes closed, you won't know the difference from the DCPA1. I love this guitar, and love to play it as much as my GPCPA1.I wasn't planning to get this guitar, but with the model in its first production year, I thought, now is the time. I do not regret my decision because both my GPCPA1 and my DCPA3 are tremendous guitars that I will cherish for the rest of my lifetime.Okay, that may sound sappy, but it is true.
