Martin

Gorgeous Martin guitar with Fishman F1 Aura onboard electronics, sounds as spectacular as it looks.

The Martin Performing Artist GPCPA1 acoustic guitar was built to blend Martin's legendary acoustic tone and appointments with player-friendly features for outstanding playability and tonal performance. This wonderful Martin acoustic guitar features a solid Sitka spruce top, 2-ring rosette, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, solid ovangkol binding, 25.4" scale length, 1-3/4" width at nut, solid black ebony bridge, and gold tuning machines enclosed with large buttons.

Articulate, yet powerful, the integrated Fishman Aura electronics system delivers stunning realism and projection in an easy-to-use onboard preamp system. With only 2 low profile knobs and a single LED display, the F1 Aura system offers advanced features in a minimalist design, unobtrusively top-mounted. It includes a digital chromatic tuner, volume and blend controls, independent 3-band EQ for both pickup and image signals, compressor, phase control and an automatic antifeedback filter with up to 3 notches. The genius of the F1 Aura is its ability to replicate the sound of 9 different world-class studio microphones. Fishman engineers have captured the distinctive audio "image" that these high-quality microphones "hear."

The F1 System is paired with the legendary Martin Gold Plus undersaddle pickup, known for its natural response. The Gold Plus is sensitive along its entire length, eliminating string spacing problems. The Delmar tortoise pickguard tops off its gorgeous embellishments.

After 30 years of miking a Sigma DR-28 I bought this upon retirement.  I'm driving a Fender Acoustasonic 150.  The 150 to me seems to overshadow the F1 Aura.  I suppose if I plugged the Martin directly into a PA system or an electic guitar amp the Aura would be useful.  I don't seem to be getting any real mike imaging like I did from the four on the Gibson J-165 EC or J-185 EC.  I liked the Martin workmanship and acoustic sound much better than the Gibson, so I got the Martin.  Unplugged it sounds even better than the Sigma (go figure).

Have owned over 100 guitars...this ranks right up there!!! I had to set it up to my taste, filed the saddle down (dropped the action and tweaked the truss road a quarter turn). Bingo Perfect Guitar. Great Elecronic Options...BUT do not beleive there will be a 5:00 section in time in "which you get"! Its complicated, but I would not switch it out whith anything else on the market. Bravo!!! Enjoy!!!

Not a guitar for second guessing. You will know the second you plug it in. The Aura F1 makes adjustments for performing live extremely flexible and VERY dynamic. The perfect guitar for a solo singer songwriter, having such a charming sound on the fingerstyle all the while strumming heavy and hearty solo's hold true to the sturdy nature of Martin guitars. The satin finish neck feels sticky at times but this is a easy fix. The pearl CF Martin logo gives it a classy touch in comparison to the dorky gold lettering of other Martins. I highly recommend finding a place that sells anything from the Performing Artist series. They are a sound to be reckoned with. Anyone with a knuckle for a brain will know the difference.

I've waited a lot of years to purchase my dream guitar-this is it.  The craftsmanship is flawless, the sound is amazing, and the F1 pickup system is all that they claim it to be.  It is NOT difficult to use.  Although there are only two knobs/buttons, it is very intuitive.  Martin supplied a dvd with mine that shows you how to use the sound system that takes all of about five minutes to learn to use. This guitar sounds amazing, and as with all quality guitars, will only sound better with time.  I am completely happy with this guitar; it will be a life long friend.

This guitar is simply amazing. The only thing that is a little discouraging is the daunting task of figuring out the Pickup controls, but they provide a book that explains all that. The guitar is simply amazing. It is the best acoustic electric that I have ever played, and it sounds amazing plugged up. Pick this thing up if at all possible. Sure, the price may be a little steep, but you will not be disappointed.
