Purchased as a backup axe to my Fender Strat the RG quickly became my main gig guitar. The RG is solidly made & features I needed were the hardtail bridge & big frets. Took me awhile to get used to the 14" flat fretboard & wide neck but it got comfortable to play after 2 shows. Pickups need more oomph. Overall the RG is balanced in playability & tone. I've been told it looks rockin' on stage & sounds great with my Marshall amp. Great buy for me!

Great Buy! Fixed Bridge. Stays in Tune Excellent! I did change the saddles out to ferra glides!!

NO more broken strings... Thninkin of changin to demarzio super disotorion pups although the factory Pups are very nice for the Metal sound! I just like to customize!

24 frets too plent of room to play the bottom of the Neck. The volume control is in a good spot!

doesnt get in the way. Had it for a couple years, seems to be very good quality. Frets are solid. never had a problem with the tuners.. I like th dot inlays too.

It's a nice lookin Guitar I"m sure it would look great on Stage!!

Gets a few scratches without a pickguard but minimal..

Great Deal!!

Simply Amazing

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

Amazing, if you are looking for a budget guitar that plays like a Telecaster and built like a rock, don't look any further then this guitar.
I love the fact that this guitar is non-trem. I was looking for this type of guitar because a trem is just distracting. I gave it an eight because the PUPs aren't the greatest, but they still rock.
Hands down the best quality for this price range.
I've played dozens of guitars and own half a dozen, this is by far my favorite.

RG2EX1 is great!

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for a little over a year. When I got it the setup from the factory was perfect. Low action perfect intonation. The finish is awesome. The pickups sound really good for passive pickups. Although after I put an EMG 81 in a guitar I restored, I can certainly tell the difference and may replace the V7 and V8 with a 81/85 combo. The neck is very thin and very easy to play. Overall this guitar is great! I would recommend this to anyone. After more than a year this thing still looks and plays like it is just out of the box. The only thing that I would suggest is a replacement of the electronics. Otherwise, It's perfect.

Great Beginner's Axe

By cbrez84

from Fresno, CA

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

I got the RG2EX1 a couple years ago as my 1st electric guitar. For a beginner's electric, it did not disappoint.I took this guitar back out recently and thought I to write a review. The neck is FAST! I was used to my Les Paul's painted neck and I flew up and down this guitar's neck. Decent tone, though the neck pickup a bit on the bassy side. It looks great, but mine's black and fingerprints show up like crazy. If that would bother you, get white. The guitar I have is the older model and does not have the IBZ V7 & V8 humbuckers, it has the "Designed by EMG" ones. The v7 and v8 come on some of Ibanez's more expensive guitars, so they probably sound better.Mine came set up pretty well out of the box, except for some fret buzz on the 5th and 6th strings. I marked it down the quality because of cosmetic flaw, and one of the screws to the truss rod cover was entirely stripped and sticking way out. Features =4.0, Really simple.Value=4.5, Really good value.Great guitar for a beginner!

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is an awesome metal guitar, but it cleans up really nicely also. I can play all sorts of music with it and the pickups are pretty hot. Pinch Harmonics squeal with little to no effort. I have it in white, and it looks AMAZING. The only problem with the color is, if you Dog/Cat/Pet sheds, the pet hair shows up. It is very lightweight. My only small issue is there is no tremolo, But thats kind of a given. This guitar can only be defined in one word...Awesome.

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

This is the perfect guitar for beginners and intermediate players. The EMG designed passive humbuckers don't sound as nice as the real EMGs but they're ok. The neck is extremely fast. Great Guitar!

It needed the action set when I got it. After that it was great. It took some time to get used to the neck, but it's really fast. I highly recommend this guitar.

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

I bought this as an inexpensive second guitar and I can't put it down. I am a seasoned jazz player and I have to say for the money, this guitar can't be beat! It has a wide neck and the intonation on mine is wonderful. Even the pick-ups sound almost awesome, very good clarity and you can even get that single coil blues twang. Love it!

Pretty good for the price

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a pretty good deal if your a beginner or intermediate. If your at an advance intermediate level and you play lead guitar you should save your money and get something better, your not going to get any sustain on this guitar. The pick ups aren't the greatest, but you can always get new ones. They may have that emg design but it doesn't have that sound. I've had this guitar for a while now and it never gave me any problems. Overall it's not a bad.

Amazing for the price!

By Chimpskabz

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

I was amazed. So I had to plug it in and wow! The pickups are EMG's. They sound heavenly. The tone on it is gnarly! The 24 frets makes it insanely awesome to play. It's so easy sliding up and down the fretboard and you can pinch harmonic so nicely on it. Not to mention, the white body color and black binding looks amazing with the black hardware. I was disappointed that it didn't have a Floyd Rose bridge, but for the price, it's not going to get any better. Overall, Ibanez did a great job designing this guitar for amateur players.

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

I've owned it for over a year. I own over a dozen guitars from Gibson Les Paul Standard to American Fender Strat to Jackson SLSMG Soloist. This is my second favorite behind my Jackson DK2M. Definitely my favorite non-trem guitar. Worth every penny.

BEASTLY GUITAR!!!

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

Well let me start my saying, AMAZING. I looked at countless guitars for months and when I found this one I had to have it, I got the black. It is a very shinny guitar, almost like a mirror, and it looks very very nice in person(better then the photo). If you turn the tone down all the way you could make it sound almost like a synth, but otherwise I recomend keeping the tone all the way up. And I like the 3 way pickup seleter because I like to switch the sound durring the middle of a song. And the pickups that come with it have some of the best tone I've ever heard for stock. ( note I have the EMG disingned pickups). If you have the monny and your looking for a good guitar at a desent price, then this is the guitar you should get.

AMAZING GUITAR!

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

This gutiar is absolutely amazing for the price. I bought this guitar a year and a half ago, and have gotten a couple guitars since then, and this is still my favorite. I was thinking about putting EMGs in but I'm not so sure I will anymore, since the ones in it are already pretty good.

Awesome guitar for any level

By DMetal

from Massachusetts

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

This is an awesome guitar. It was my first serious guitar after the starter Squiers and such, and I've been playing it for about 3 years now. It's just an awesome guitar, and the price makes it even better. The stock pickups are crap, so they were the first to go, I now run a DiMarzio Super3 in the bridge and a DiMarzio D-Activator in the neck, enhancing it's amazing tone. I also threw some grover locking tuners on this beast and it's good to go. The sound is great, the playability of the Wizard II neck is legendary, and the tone it puts out is just great. I'd recommend this guitar to any level player.

Comments about Ibanez RG2EX1 Electric Guitar:

I had a Squire Strat, and I needed to get a new guitar. I looked around, and in a used guitar shop I found this guitar. I picked it up, played it for 5 minutes, and bought it. I got home, and realized how much the strat was holding me back. I played this for a week and noticed more improvement in my skills than I had in my year with the other guitar. I have had it for over a year, and every day I play this thing I love it even more. I just got a Jackson King V, but I still like to play this more. The pickups are decent for metal, but the clean sound has too much bass. I rarely use clean, so I love this guitar!
