The PRS goal: "Uncompromised tone, playability, and beauty."
The PRS 25th Anniversary Santana Electric Guitar boasts shadow bird inlays, a headstock eagle, purfling strips on the body, Santana pickups with covers, and the patented PRS tremolo.
The year was 1976. Carlos Santana was in his dressing room waiting to play a gig at the Capital Center in Washington D.C. A tall, slender 20-year-old Paul Reed Smith with abundant curly hair and wire-rimmed glasses made his way backstage with a guitar he'd just built for Peter Frampton. This was the start of a lifelong creative partnership between Carlos Santana and Smith that has done much to shape the destiny of Paul Reed Smith Guitars.
To celebrate this pivotal alliance, PRS is proud to present the 25th Anniversary Santana guitar. Appointments include a 24-1/2" scale length, 24 fret bound mahogany "Santana" wide fat neck, and a rosewood fretboard.

I've been playing over 45 years and was looking to get a new strat to hot-rod. I absolutely love my vintage strat that I've been playing since early 70's but wanted something else. Was at the music center just playing different strats & tele's looking for one that felt just right when the salesman handed me a PRS Swamp Ash Special.. Was totally blown away at how right the guitar felt, tried a couple other PRS guitars and couldn't get over the quality, feel & sound of these guitars. Almost bought one on the spot but wanted to price them online. While looking online I noticed the 25th Anniversary Santana Electric Guitar.. From the moment I tuned it there hasn't been a doubt in my mind that this is the finest playing guitar I've ever touched. The action is perfect, the frets are so smooth and the guitar's sustain is awesome..
The guitar in many ways is a no frills guitar.. simple 3 way switch, 1 tone & volume control.. but everything on it is top grade. As soon as you hold it you realize this isn't the bolted on neck guitar you've been playing since high school.. binding on neck & body is beautiful.
Expensive but will own it forever.. well worth the cost..
I had wanted one of these since they first came out and I have heard them played and they are amazing. My wife got me on for Christmas and it was even better than I could have imagined. Everything on this guitar was perfect out of the box. The tuners are smooth and the finish is amazing. I plugged into my Mesa 5:50 and the notes are clear and the sound were just incredible. I could not be happier. The finish is amazing as well. I have the sapphire smokeburst and it is brilliant.
Simply THE finest PRS made in a long time .. I have seen heard and played many guitars but this is by far the most superior guitar ever made. Maybe only the Fender EJ strat is a close one, in terms of build, sustain and tone ....
- Was this a gift?:
I play mostly rock and metal. And I can tell you, I only wish I could afford one o these. But, I had a friend, that had one, and damn; this thing can do it all, from blues, to metal, to southern rock, to Pink Floyd. I've just never seen anything, this well-made. Never. And oh my lord, the playability is unsurpassed folks.
