A versatile guitar enhanced with a new neck and new finish.

513 stands for 5 pickups and 13 sounds, achieved with an easy to use integrated electronics control package, which includes volume control, tone control and two blade switches. One blade switch is a 5-way pickup selector, and the other is a 3-way mode switch that allows you to select between the singlecoil, clear humbucking and heavy humbucking modes. One of PRS' most versatile instruments, the 513 now comes standard with a maple top, V12 finish, and Pattern Regular mahogany neck with an East Indian rosewood fretboard.

V12 Finish
Finish should enhance the look, sound, and feel of a guitar by accentuating the wood's inherent beauty and feel without hindering its natural resonance. And PRS Guitars' new "V12" finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, "V12" is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. "PRS models with this new finish feel like old instruments," said Paul Reed Smith.

Pattern Regular Shape
Neck shapes have always been a high priority for PRS and a hallmark of PRS quality. A guitar should feel comfortable, like "home," as soon as you pick it up, and the neck is paramount to that connection. The new "Pattern Regular" neck shape is similar to the traditional PRS regular neck found on guitars made in the late 80's at PRS's former Virginia Avenue location.

This new neck shape reflects modern tooling and programming that allows PRS to even more preciously shape and consistently reproduce their necks.

Amazing Guitar - most versatile axe!

About Me Experienced

Comments about PRS 513 Electric Guitar:

I'm 49, an engineer, and a weekend guitar warrior for 30+ years.
The PRS is hands down the most versatile guitar you will ever own. I play through a Mesa Mark V & Rectifier 2x12 cab. There is no tone this combination cannot nail 95%. The 513 will get you Gibson through Stratocaster tones and even some Tele sounds. I literally cover tunes from clean to gain covering Van Morrison, Tommy Tutone, Rick Springfield, Luke Bryan, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Van Halen, and many other popular covers that everybody likes to dance and party to. I hate changing guitars, plus I get better consistency in my playing by sticking to one axe (I need to maximize my return on time I spend practicing!). I've played Strat mostly for 20 years, and this easily nails those tones (SRV, etc.). And the 513 obviously nails the Gibson tones. I bought my 2011 513 lightly used, and this guitar just rocks. I also have PRS Custom 22 as back-up (in fact, the the Custom 22 was my number one but I wanted a bit more quack out of the single-coils and the 513 delivers). I even pull off some Paisley tones in single coil position # 2. This axe will be with me until I am no longer on this earth (as will my Mesa Mark V). Again, if you want versatile, this is the best set up. If you want to specialize in a specific style, then you need specific gear for that. But I doubt anyone can tell my AC/DC cover on the PRS into Mark V (Edge Mode) from Angus's playing his Gibson SG into a Marshall. Of course, a lot of tone comes from the fingers, attack, muting PLUS the amp set up. I also like country-rock and it is interesting that so many country players use PRS guitars (Luke Bryan). You CAN NOT POSSIBLY GO WRONG WITH THIS GUITAR.

Comments about PRS 513 Electric Guitar:

Great guitar, amazing feel to it, and it sounds amazing. The tone switch/humbucker switch really add to the versatility of sounds you can get. Looks beautiful, sounds even better. High quality guitar that you can play for life if you take good care of it.

Great for professional musicians who need a high quality tool for recording that can handle clean / distortion. Same goes for the professional who needs a versatile instrument for live shows.

    This is my favorite guitar.

Comments about PRS 513 Electric Guitar:

I've got the PRS Studio with the regular pattern neck and absolutely love it! So I had zero issues about how this guitar should feel, it's basically the same format just different electronics. I find that PRS guitars are usually quite tonefull and the craftsmanship is always impressive. The single coil mode is crisp and quiet, ideal for recording. The other two humbucker modes are nice as well. If I have a grievance it's the lack of dual humbucker mode for the guitar. PRS has an option to install a push/pull that will give you this option, but for the coin you're putting down it should already be on the guitar. Other than that, it's a great guitar with incredible tones. Yeah, you're going to spend some coin on it but, it's worth it.

      PRS 513

Comments about PRS 513 Electric Guitar:

One of the best sounding guitars I have. The playability is second to none. Everything I play just sounds a little better on this axe. neck and fret board are like buttah. nearly endless tonal possibilities. Cleanest clean and the dirtiest dirty are all possible. Bell chimes to wicked controlled feedback. Awesome guitar. I will be looking for another PRS soon. I wanted something that would do it all and this one does.
This rig is a beauty to look at but has loads of sounds too. Many switching options. Locking tuners are a plus
Top notch product. Highest quality woods, construction. Definitely one of the best out there.
You get a lot for your money with PRS guitars in my opinion. I looked at a lot of guitars before buying this one.

Comments about PRS 513 Electric Guitar:

Great guitar, action was a little high but did a quick truss rod adjustment and it was fine. Beautiful finish. I have the faded blue burst and it is very nice. Clean sound is very good and smooth but its still a solidbody. Rock and dirty sounds are excellent. Very fit and finish overall and looks and sounds great.
      13 different sounds
      Flawless finish
Pretty expensive but hey, its a PRS

Comments about PRS 513 Electric Guitar:

I just received my new 513 yesterday and I was blown away. A little nervous ordering a guitar without playing it but I found I really had nothing to worry about. Out of the case this guitar played so smooth and so easy I was overwhelmed with joy. The guitar's playablilty and feel were incredible and the tone was awesome! If you want a versatile guitar that can play clean country to the dirtiest dirty, this is your axe. Thanks PRS!!!
