Phenomenal tone with righteous resonance and show time visuals!
The PRS Guitars Custom 22 Guitar is great for almost any kind of music. Amazingly responsive resonance comes from the flawless joint between the wide/fat mahogany neck and mahogany body with carved, flame maple top. The resonance is further enhanced with a wraparound stopbar bridge/tailpiece, providing the most direct transference of string vibration to wood possible. All that resonance is translated into soaring sustain by covered Dragon II humbuckers with a coil-tapping 5-way rotary selector. The fast, silky rosewood fretboard features a 10" radius and 22 large frets. PRS includes a hardshell case with your Custom 22 Guitar.

I have had my Custom 22 for about 5 months now. I have owned and gigged with various guitars and played many more from Gibsons to Music Man to Ibanez and virtually every other major company around and I have to say that not one guitar I have ever played compares to my custom 22 in any aspect. This guitar's action is so smooth it practically plays itself. Its tone can only be described as "creamy" and warm. The sustain is amazing, the wrap-around stoptail bridge is comfortable and convienient. Each position of the five way rotary offers a unique yet somehow familiar tone that you are sure to fall in love with. I do agree with the first reviewer's statement about the DragonII pickups being more bassy than his EMG's. If metal is your thing then you may want to put a set of aftermarket EMG's in. I personally would do not want to alter anything on this instrument so I just through a bit more treble into the mix when playing the heavier stuff. I would recommend getting the bird inlays which I have on mine. They look great and in my opinion they are a statement to the guitar's quality. Awesome instrument, my go to guitar.
I kept and played this guitar for 4 years to write this review just to have all of its characteristics fully observed. The feel of this guitar is great, and it is incredibly light and easy to play, but the tone is just mid ranged. Don't buy this guitar and expect a LP or strat, it just wont do it. The stock pickups and pots are very low quality, and even though upgrading them is possible, after spending > 2,000$ I don't think that it should be necessary. the looks are worth the money, but not the sound. Sorry Paul
I have owned about 30 guitars, played many more. In my opinion its the best I have ever owned and played. PRS really makes it right! With todays pedels, amps, etc you can just about plug anything in and get the sound you want(or close to it) but if you play guitar for awhile and then put one of these in your hands you start looking around the room with a smile on your face. The pick-ups are truly fantastic. My custom 22 stays in tune very well. You can bend all you want and you wont be tuning this string or that string. My only problem is that its so nice and plays so well I am over protective with it. Don't reach for my Custom 22-its mine! Downside-I contacted customer support one time and it was not a very professional person I dealt with but then again that person did not make my guitar. Still I would buy another one without hesitation. ROCK ON PLAYERS
This is the greatest guitar I've ever owned. I've had my Custom 22 (emerald green) for 6 years now and I'll NEVER part with it. I've owned numerous guitars from strats to les pauls to Ibanez. No guitar is more versitile. Metal, Blues, Rock, jazz, country, you name it the Custom 22 can do it. My search for the Ultimate guitar is over!
I have several axes: US Gibsons, US Fenders, a Ric and two PRS models. I always heard you could get a good or bad Fender and Gibson. PRS, however, is bulletproof. My Hollowbody II was ready to play out of the box. Same with my Custom 22. I have an artist 10 top. I probably would not gig with this one, because it is so gorgeous (and valuable), but it does everything my Gibsons can do. They're bulletproof beauties...
I have a 2003 prs custom 22.I have owned a Les Paul standard and a 56 goldtop.I have a fender strat,A peavey evh wolfgang and a Martin acoustic.I have played many guitars over 25 or so years and the prs custom 22 is by far the best ever! It stays in tune no matter how hard you bend or beat the strings. The action is low with no fret buzz at all.The wraparound stoptail bridge is the most comfortable I've ever played on.The wood is perfect, even if you don't have a ten top, there's not any difference that I can see.The 5 way rotary switch gives you so much diversity. The only guitar sound you can't get from this is a telecaster but who cares, telecasters sound too bland for me anyway! These are pricey, but you do get what you pay for with this baby! This is about the same price as a Les Paul standard and in my opinion this blows away the Paul, and I love Les Paul guitars, they are great too but this is a step further in quality and in sound. If you want a guitar that does it all then here it is. Try one and you will see for yourself.
Ive had this guitar for 3 years now and i have to say that there is nothing that this guitar cant do in my opinion. Although I wouldnt risk damaging it onstage at a screamo concert, it could be a real dream in a studio setting. I would definitly buy another one if this one were to leave me somehow.
I had a PRS Custom 22, but recently fallen in love with a US Fender Deluxe. The PRS C22 has a powerful, yet very well rounded tone and can play any style well. Definitely, you cannot go wrong with this guitar...although, I have realized now that it can't beat a Fender when it comes to a Fender sound and it can't beat a Les Paul when it comes to a Les Paul sound. B/c of this simple fact of wanting it to be something it's not, I sold it in trade of a Les Paul Standard. Should I say that didn't like it b/c it was almost too perfect?
This thing is good. I mean really good. I wanna be friends with it. This is the best sounding guitar I've ever played. Such clear distortion, incredible cutting leads, and beautiful clean tones. What are you waiting for. But it!
I have the black cherry 20th anniversary and it is the most wonderful thing I have ever owned. Mine features the toggle switch and the push-pull pot allowing for a whole range of sounds from warm tele to screaming les paul - it's all here. PRS takes great pride in making a great insrument, and this thing rocks. I heard somewhere that a guy thought this axe wouldn't suffice for gigging - wrong man, just wrong. This thing is built like a tank. There is only one word to describe this guitar: decent. And in my book, decent means excellent.
