I bought this expecting something that I would have to work on to, maybe, make it playable. All I wanted was something that could set out and be played by grandkids or non-players, something that would keep my "good stuff" out of the hands of those too young or too inexperienced to handle carefully. Whether I just got lucky, or this guitar is indicative of overall build quality I can't say; but, I got one darn nice sounding, easy to play guitar. Vastly exceeded my expectations. Has been setting out for weeks now and I have hours of playing time on it and I'm still waiting for something bad to happen, something to fix...I don't even have a complaint about tuning--holds as well as my much more expensive guitars. All that being said it's not a Martin or a Taylor, nothing like that kind of tone. However, it adds an interesting texture when played along with those high-ends. I'll live with the scuffs in return for an inexpensive knock around that I did not have to work on or set up, that others can pick up and ding without giving me a coronary, and that sounds and plays good enough for me to keep its older brothers in their cases when that sudden urge to play hits me.
A basic, no nonsense slightly smaller knock around guitar.
There were cosmetic issues: some scuffs from packaging and a couple in the factory finish. But the neck was straight, the set up was good out-of-the-box, it took and held a tune and, overall, it sounded better than expected.
For the price (stupid deal of the day), great bang for the buck.

Pay for the next Rogue up and right now it is the same price and the one above it is a dreadnaught and it survived a tour in Iraq and is now used in a church in Uganda. Awesome piece of art.
It's that, a starter guitar. Like the other raters said, some got good action some don't. I ordered two, one had good action, the other did not. I now see cracks in the back finish giving the impression it is not solid wood or plywood even, it is particle board and veary easy to break. Both guitars have chunks broken out of the back of the guitars and hardly even used. I put them in my classroom and my students are rough on them, but one looks like it was kicked, but I didn't see it. The back of the guitar is fragile and proven when a chip broke off the back of the second guitar with just playing for five minutes. The students are afraid to play them because they fear getting blamed for the crumbling backs.
CHeap is cheap and these are cheap. I had a Rogue guitar free with guitar strings and thought these were like that one, but not so.
High action and fragile wood.

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:
This guitar was dirt-cheap [on sale] & is totally playable. It's 7/8th size makes it perfect for stowing in a full-size locker and it's great for practicing. At this price-point, you don't expect a great-sounding instrument, but this one sounds relatively good and I can't imagine any other guitar giving you more value for the money.

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:
I am a beginner and I bought this guitar to play in class and to practice at home. First of all, it beautiful! I got the walnut color and I LOVE IT! The more I like it, the more I am willing to play my guitar. Second, I didn't expect the sound to be so good because it's a cheap guitar. I must say I am satisfied with the sound, I have nothing to complain about. It also stays in tune well. Another thing I must mention is that as a beginner I bought the nylon strings separately and thought I would replace the steel strings on this guitar, so it wouldn't be too painful to play, BUT I found these still strings great and decided not to replace them.

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:
I bout this guitar thinking it was going to be smaller. I thought it would be a great starter for my toddler. When I received it, I couldn't believe it. Nice tone, fun to play. The boy loves it. And for the price, I couldn't even find a children's guitar.

This was shipped within 2 days. I couldn't believe how fast it arrived. And was very happy with it. I love the colour of this guitar. Beautiful and bold. I am just beginning to learn and this is perfect to use and to hold and handle. The sound of this guitar isn't my favorite, but to learn on its absolutely perfect. Appreciate this instrument!! <3

Brought for students at a local church, found guitar to be the right size for the average 6 to 10 year old. The low action makes learning a lot easier.

Comments about Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar:
The guitar will need several simple tweaks out of the box. First make sure the tuner screws are tight, then lower the action to make the guitar playable.Use the adjustment wrench that comes with the guitar to tighten the neck truss rod. Turn it clockwise until you get some resistance, and then another quarter turn. Then lower the bridge by sliding the saddle over (it only slides one way) 1/4" inch. After you tune the strings up,they are stretched out, and the neck adjustment settles in,it is palyable. At some point a new set of quality strings would also be beneficial.
