I'll start off by saying this is an excellent guitar for them money. I have owned 2 Ibanez electric guitars and this one plays better than both of them. It stays in tune one heck of a lot better than my previous Ibanez RG series guitar w/ floyde rose. I bought this guitar, because it looked nice, didn't have a Floyd rose tremolo, and had great reviews. The fret board is excellent, the finish (walnut) is also very nice and attractive, and the tuners do their job.Now for the cons. This guitar does have a couple cons though. For one the tone knob is terrible! It's either on or off. Clean, or extremely muffled, no in-between tone. Personally I always leave it clean, so this is not really a problem for me. But I have heard of some replacing the knob.Second off the neck pickup is really terrible. It is not worth using anything but the bridge pickup, even a combination sounds terrible when playing clean or with metalish distortion. The bridge pickup is quite good on the other hand. I personally am going to order Duncan or Dimrazio pickups and have this guitar really own it up.And lastly, quite a minor detail, but it comes with no manual. So I have to go online and search on how to adjust the action, as I'm getting a tiny bit of fret buzz on the 1st fret and sometimes 2nd. This should be no problem to adjust.I searched and was seriously considering several ESP's in the same price range, and an Ibanez that was a little more with EMG designed pickups, but I fell on this one, and think I made the right choice!Other than that it plays like a dream and I would recommend ordering the guitar with some better pickups, and it would make a wicked guitar. Thanks for reading and good luck with your guitar search!

The Schecter Oman 6 is nearly worth what you have to pay for it. I've had a Fender Squire with single coil pickups and mini fret board and this guitar completely blows it away(obviously) . Be careful when choosing the Walnut Satin finish though...when i got it, it was a rosewood(redish) color not the shiny black finish in the picture, aka very ugly! I had to call the headquarters and swap for a black finish! Idk if they have fixed this issue or not so be warned lol. The black finish is very nice, and it has chrome knobs! Playability is nice, and you can do harmonics with ease! I would only recomend switching out the pickups for better ones but other than that this guitar is a pretty good buy!
Black finish is nice, chrome knobs.
    Needs better pickups..

Best cheap guitar for tinkering with.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 Omen 6 Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for a little over a year, and i sort of have mixed feelings for it. First off this is a cheap guitar, it will eventually have it's minor flaws such as lose wiring, lose cable jack, etc. Second, this is one of the best playing guitars I have ever played on!!!!! It is very versatile for me, as I play anything from contemporary music to thrash metal. The stock pickups are....eh. I switched out with a pair of dimarzio evolutions and wow!!! It plays beautiful piano clean tones and I can get some of the nastiest, snarling, screaming lead tones I can think of!!!! Really my only major beef about it is the old school neck joint and the cuttaway, seing as I have rather large hands, it makes it difficult for me to play some of the higher frets. But if you want something that's versatile, can be experimented with, and has a low price, this is the way to go.

    Good guitar...

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 Omen 6 Electric Guitar:

Buy this if you are starting out, I did when I was starting out and I am still happy to own this guitar, I have made modifications, but the guitar itself is a great design!
I have owned the Schecter Omen 6 for several years now. It is really a great cheap guitar. You will not be dissatisfied with it, if you are just starting out, and want something you can customize to your liking. The only complaints I have in this guitar are the factory pots, they are cheap and invariable. This limts the tones the guitarist can get. With the factory pots it is either all or nothing, in terms of gain and clarity. I have done modifications on my Omen 6 because of this, but my syle of playing is the main influence for the changes I've made. I have upgraded to a Seymore Duncan Sh-6 bridge and neck set, and have rewired to exclude the tone knob. Currently, I also am using non-stock pots, these are pots I had on-hand but tested to have a different, and more favorable resistance, to acheive a bright and punchy sound that I was looking for. The fit and feel of this guitar is wonderful, the neck plays smooth, the frets are accurate, and the sound is respectable and bold. I own a Schecter Hellraiser C-1 with the FR. The EMG pickups in it sound like turds, in my opinion, and the sustain is terrible. My favorite guitar, the one I practice on the most is the Omen 6, I would buy another one and paint it RED, then customize it!
    Ok
    Great!

    Simply The Best!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 Omen 6 Electric Guitar:

Plain and simple, their is no better guitar in this price range that is even close, maybe-just maybe a Dean Razorback(which I also own)but I find myself playing the Omen because it is comfortable and plays any kind of rock I want to play, EXTREMELY well. I have the Razorback strung heavy and use it for drop B&C, and use the Omen for everything else.Seriously the Oman is the best guitar in the $300.00 price range and is capable of blowing away much more expensive guitars!

    OMEN 6-STOLE!!!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 Omen 6 Electric Guitar:

I own a little over a dozen guitars-high end, low end and everything in between, some bought right here at Musician's Friend. I picked up a Schecter Omen 6 at a competitor (? owned by the same company that owns Musician's Friend-so I'm told) nationwide chain of axe centers. I grabbed a slightly used one for an unbelievable price of $129.00-actually I should say "I stole it ". Checked it over very carefully- no hidden repairs. This thing plays like a dream and sounds great! Extremely low action with no fret buzz. I can play this thing for hours on end with no fatigue and have a really hard time putting it down. While I have a few much, much more expensive guitars this one has quickly become one of my most favorite. Now after the Schecter C-1 with Floyd Rose. I thought that the ESP/LTD 351FR would be my dream guitar until I picked up a Schecter.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 Omen 6 Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for almost 5 years. Its a great playing guitar. Nothing fancy here, this guitar has everything you need. My only complaint is the stock pickups (poor tone, poor power). I replaced them with EMG 81/85, and now I would trade this guitar for anything.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 Omen 6 Electric Guitar:

i just got one of these about a month ago. this is a great guitar!! if you want something that sounds like a lespaul but doesn't have the back breaking weight, then this is a great buy! i traded an old washburn 10-VT for this and it was totally worth it, it sounds just like my lespaul but it has some bonuses: it has a fast neck, 14 frets, light weight, and it has really nice clean tones when the neck pup and bridge pup are blended together and when the neck pup is on, and then you can get really heavy w/ the bridge pup when you kick in the overdrive. it also has great sustain for when you're doing epic solos. buy it now!!!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 Omen 6 Electric Guitar:

I own this guitar and ohh boy, let me tell you this guitar rocks. It blows me away with how comfortable this thing is when you hold it. The neck is supper thin and fast. Both colors are equally as stunning. The guitar is also very light and manuferable. The pick-ups are pretty good for stock pick-ups but to my own tastes, I will shortly be replacing them with Seymour Dungan JB/59' humbuckers (which are also on the Schecter C-1 Blackjack guitars). Other than that little up grade there is nothing wrong with this guitar. The tunners keep the guitar in tune very well. And overall a masterpiece of a guitar. Can play pretty much any style of music and I would recommend this guitar to anyone, starters, intermediates, and experts alike. The best string size for this guitar would be 11-48 guage (in my opinion).
