An arched mahogany body with maple top, Seymour Duncan pickups and a Floyd Rose bridge.

An arched mahogany body and 3-piece mahogany set neck with Schecter's Ultra Access heel contour makes the Blackjack ATX C-1 FR Electric Guitar so comfortable to play, it almost becomes an extension of your body.

The ATX electric guitar features USA Seymour Duncan active Blackout Humbuckers. These are 9-volt pickups designed for aggressive playing styles; especially good for old school metal, garage, punk, thrash, drop tunings, and other heavy rock styles. The Blackouts' balanced inputs capture the tone that players want in an active design, providing more lows, more highs, more tone — period.

The ebony fingerboard features an Active Bolt inlay at the 12th fret, like a warning label for just how much power your axe is packing. Grover tuners and the Floyd Rose 1000 series tremolo bridge allows you to make it talk without knocking it out of tune. Aged mulitply binding is an excellent frame for the high-class aged finish.

    Grover tuners
The Blackjack ATX C-1 FR features an original Rotomatic with an improved higher ratio gearing. The 18:1 ratio provides for finer tuning and greater stability. The finer gears provide smoother tuning and a higher degree of backlash elimination.

    Ebony fingerboard
Ebony has a snappy, crisp attack with the density of maple, but with more brittle grains, oilier pores, and a stronger fundamental tone than maple. It has a tremendous amount of percussive overtones in the pick attack, that mute out shortly thereafter to foster great, long, sustain

Seymour Duncan Active Blackouts AHB-1 pickups
9-volt active humbucker for aggressive playing styles, the Blackout AHB-1 is recommended for old school metal, garage, punk, thrash, drop tunings, and other heavy rock styles. Capturing the tone that players want in an active design using balanced inputs. The result is 12dB to 14dB less noise, plus more lows, more highs, and more output.

    3-pc Mahogany neck
Made with 3 pieces of mahogany for extra stability. 3 piece necks can withstand the test of time. Where standard necks may show aging defects from temperature and moisture changes throughout the years, the 3 piece neck will stay nice and straight for a lifetime of playability.

    Bridge
    Floyd Rose 1000 Series
The Floyd Rose Tremolo System is used by more professionals throughout the world than any other. No copy can duplicate the patented double-locking design of the Floyd Rose Tremolo System that allows you to lock your guitar in tune at the nut and at the bridge. The Floyd Rose Tremolo System is engineered like no other tremolo system.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Blackjack ATX C-1 FR Electric Guitar:

I own several guitars including Fender, Gibson, and a couple of Schecters. I bought this guitar because of the pups and hardware and was looking for a certain sound. The guitar played beautifully. Nice feel. Fantastic tone with a big sound (Hughes & Kettner tube and Marshall 4x12 Vintage cab). The problem I had was the finish. It was a matte finish and the quilted maple top looked like a print vs. real wood. I couldn't get past it. If they just left the top mahogany I would've kept it. Someone else may love the look. I will say the quality is Awesome.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Blackjack ATX C-1 FR Electric Guitar:

To put my review in perspective, I am a bit well-rounded guitar player. My live playing experience is on heavy metal, grunge, and alternative. I am into melodic solos (fast or slow).

This is my dream guitar come true. The pickups shine on this guitar. I have another similar guitar with EMGs and I can feel the difference, even after the "honeymoon" period. Awesome on high gain and can shimmer on cleans. I have put the Floyd Rose on its paces and it is quite solid.

The only quirk is the electronic controls. An earlier review is spot on, the controls can get confusing; i.e. which knob is for what pickup. Also, the knobs are non-concentric, which is weird. But if you can get past that, as I did, you will just want to keep on playing and playing.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Blackjack ATX C-1 FR Electric Guitar:

It's a very well made guitar but I found problems with 1 or even 2 of the tuning keys and mostly didn't like the way the volume dials were arranged with the pickups. The top volume dial was for the treble (bridge) pickup and the 2nd (bottom) volume dial was for the rhythm (front) pickup. I'm to used to the reverse order on other guitars I've played and/or owned. I wasn't sure it there was a wiring error or... if that's how the guitar was designed to work.
